Almost Perfect - but needs seal to prevent leaks
Makes excellent, strong cold brew coffee with just a bit of sediment in the bottom. Easy to use and clean, with all parts dishwasher safe. Much more convenient and less messy than other options, while making coffee that is just as good.I've tried the Toddy (for many years), OXO, BOD BodyBrew, and several of the pitchers with filters. The Toddy is large and unattractive, isn't sealed, and can be messy when extracting the brew. The OXO was basically a smaller, more attractive Toddy. The BodyBrew leaked no matter how tightly sealed up and was pretty expensive. The various pitchers were just OK, but didn't seal so the water couldn't be circulated well around the grounds. The Toddy is the gold standard for processing cold brew coffee. The extracted brew is strong and smooth, and benefits from the water being in direct contact with the grounds for the full brew cycle. To achieve the same results with a fixed filter, it's necessary to circulate the water around/through the grounds a couple of times during the brewing process. You can accomplish this by gently tilting the jar back and forth a few times. However, this kit, as shipped, will definitely leak if you put in any position other than upright. To fix this problem a seal that goes around the top of the filter edge, like the "Replacement Seals for County Line Kitchen Cold Brewers" is needed. Those seals fit this filter perfectly and completely seal the mason jar up with no leaks. If a seal had been included with the kit I would have given it 5 stars.

It works really well. I still do a pour over with paper to get it really pure.
Bought it to cold brew coffee. Im really happy with how it works. This way 99 percent of the coffee is filtered out and when I pour it over some paper filters it dosnt clog them right up and take forever to drip. This is a great first filter method and if you don't mind a little bit of very fine dust like coffee grounds then you don't even need to paper filter it after. For some reason when I make cold brew I like it really pure. With hot coffee I don't think I care as much considering I just use a re useable coffee filter in my drip coffee maker which also lets a small amount of grounds pass through. Bottom line this jar is well worth the money. My only concern with this would be if I ever brew loose leaf tea in it. Typically tea leaves have stringy strands that get stuck in filter mesh a bit. The filter on this thing spans the entire half gallon jar pretty much so I could see it being pretty hard to clean cause of how deep it is. I just rinse mine with hot water for a while right after I make my cold brew and its nice and clean.

great for experimenting with cold brew
Great size for just me. I wish the jar had a handle as it is a little on the heavy side and is sometimes hard to grasp with arthritis. I was afraid the basket would not hold up, but is much stronger than I expected. This could also be used to infuse plain water, but with the weight of the jar and no handle, I will not be buying another. One downside - some of the grounds come through the filter basket and create a nasty sludge at the bottom. Not sure if this happens with all filters, or if this one isn't fine enough.

I've been wasting so much time! THEN THIS
For the past few summers I've been making cold brew. I've tried cheese cloth, but found it to be too gross. The method I landed on was steeping the coffee grounds in a jar then dumping it into a french press, then back into a clean jar. There was always a mess and french presses suckkkk to clean. Finally pulled the trigger on getting one of these bad boys and I AM NEVER GOING BACK. Cleaning this thing takes less than 30 seconds. It's amazing. The coffee is amazing. People keep talking about sediment, but every cold brew is going to have that, there are no grounds in the final product. Just delicious cold brew at a fraction of the cost of any coffee shop. (Pro tip, add plain unsweetened almond milk when you drink it. suh gud).

Greatly simplified my previous process to making cold-brew coffee
I love love love this product! I can't speak yet to durability, but it has really simplified my process for making cold-brew coffee. I previously put coffee grounds, fairly fine grounds, into a large kitchen prep container, filled with water, and let sit for 8-12 hours before filtering. I've used cheesecloth with strainer to filter as well as my coffee press to filter. Both of those processes took time to filter the volume I would prepare, and the cheese cloth method was messy. This cold brew kit makes it super simple to prepare, and I love the feature of just removing the filter from the jar and storing the jar in the refrigerator. Both pieces are easy to clean. I use the Pilao coffee which I get from Amazon for my cold brew which is delicious!

Simple, Easy to Use, Makes Great Cold Brew
I love it! I'm on the road in rural towns that very rarely have coffee shops, and 100+ degree summers. I mix up a batch of this before bed, it's ready for my travel mug in the morning, and gives me plenty of caffeine to fuel the whole day. I'm prone to breaking things and we've got limited kitchen space so I didn't want to invest in a fancy pour over rig. This is perfect.Don't bother buying a pour spout lid. It pours pretty easy from the jar lid (just remember to take out the grounds + filter). The only draw back I've encountered is that the filter is a little difficult to clean and pretty thin so it bends easily, I have a bottle brush that works pretty well with it.

Easy to use
I'm a caffeine junkie and wanted to stop pouring so much money into energy drinks. Decided to make cold brew at home for much less. This kit is super easy to use, just scoop in the coffee, pour water in, let it sit for 24 hours.I've made I don't know how many jars of coffee with this now and the mesh insert is still fine after many washes and uses.

Simple yet Effective
This is so simple to use to make great cold brew and super easy to clean. There is usually a very small amount of fine coffee grains at the bottom but not enough to be noticeable when drinking the coffee. The filter does seem like it could be punctured, if not careful while cleaning but if you are careful, that isn’t an issue. I like the setup so much that I bought a second one to have a little more capacity (and this way can always have coffee ready).
