The Needle's Eye: Passing through Youth

Incredible
A remarkable piece of writing. I've liked Fanny Howe's work for years, but this is my favorite yet. A brilliant, utterly masterful book. Page for page, a total wonder. A fascinating journey through Simone Weil, Saint Francis, the Boston Marathon bombers, the Loudun possessions, and a raft of other subjects. I kept shaking at my head as I read -- how in the world did Howe pull this off? She skips effortlessly from one subject to the next, leaving the interstitial connections beneath the surface for the reader. A book that gives you a jolt and wakes you up to the wonder of the world. Highly recommended.
