Shimano SW-R600 Di2 Climber Satellite Shifter

This thing is so awesome. NOT WORTH THE PRICE THOUGH. But I am keeping it. It actually shifts faster and better than my levers - don't know why, don't really care, but it really works. Just be aware that you will have to purchase the 5 junction box if you have the R785 levers which come with the R785 brake calipers (ICE Technology). The R785s do NOT have junction ports in the levers. That adds on another $100 to the setup.Is it worth the cost? Probably not, but I built up my dream bike and this was part it. I really want the drop shifters - those little buttons that are buried under the bar tape.

I wanted a satellite shifter for climbs because I tend to grab the flats on inclines. It does what it's supposed to do.I just wish Shimano gave you better installation instructions with these things because this came with some parts that I had no idea what they were for. For some reason, they leave that in the "dealer's manual," which is not included but is available online.If you are like me, you are wondering what the two rubber squares are for. These are the "rubber sheets" and meant to go on the bar, aligned with the slotted section on the back of this switch. These "grip" the sheets and prevent it from slipping, along with the included zip ties.

Very useful (though extremely expensive) extension to the Shimano Di2 system. Can't imagine it costs Shimano more than $5 to make this plastic gadget, so you can't help feeling ripped off paying $150+ on it, but after you fit it to your bike and give it a test-run, it's easier to forget what you paid for it because it works very well and you start wondering how you could have lived without it for so long. 5 stars for the device itself, but I really have to deduct a star for the cost which seems to be so completely unrelated to the manufacturing costs that it's insulting.

I am giving this shifter 5 stars because the company refunded my money after I discovered it would not fit my bike. Make sure you check your control input attached to your shifter to make sure you have an available input for this climbing shifter. I have a 2016 S-Works Tarmac Di2 Disc (Dura Ace shifters) and looked on YouTube to see how this shifter would install. Seemed pretty simple, just plug it into the control box on one of he existing shifters. I then did a quick check of my control box by pulling up the rubber shifter/brake lever cover and it looked like there was an available input just as the YouTube tutorial described. Unfortunately, when the climbing shifter arrived and I tried to install it I discovered that the second input was a dummy and had no hole to connect the wire from the climbing shifter. My fault entirely since I did not check closely enough before buying but they refunded my money since It would not work. On the item description it only lists a prior model Di2 that is not compatible but it does not state that you should verify that you have an extra input in order to hook it up (from what I read they all had two inputs). They probably figure that would be obvious, which it probably should be:)

Oh man...if you have a road bike and like to climb with your hands on the top of your handlebars...this is a MUST. Sooooo nice not to have to reach down to the levers to switch. Used this twice and it is great. Wish they would make something that would be smaller as it is kind of bulky, but it is worth it.

Bought it for Tri bike, and does not work. Should be clear this is for road bike.

a must with a di2 setup!

I have a pair of these Satellite Shifters on my Cervelo SLC-SL with first generation Dura Ace Di2. Left one controls the front derailleur, right one the rear. Works flawlessly. Once you have shift capability as you ride the tops of the bars you don't want to go back. I recently picked up a Cervelo S3 with Ultrega Di2 11 speed. Time to add a pair of Satellite Shifters. Oops. On Ultegra 6870 Di2 only one Satellite Shifter will work to control shifting the rear cassette. It appears the second remote shifter will not communicate with the front derailleur. Most shifting involves moving around the gears on the cassette anyway so it's not a big deal.
