Q: Is there any way to protect the brake cable?

Protect the brake cables?? What is your concern? The cables are inside the usual "rubber tube" cable sheaths. They are flexible'; protected from bumps and nicks and abrasions.. I wouldn't use them as handles to pull or lift the walker.

Q: In the video, the rims look to be metal, or are they plastic?

I can't tell for sure, but they appear to be steel or aluminum. They don't sound like plastic when I tap them with a knife. My biggest disappointment is the "tires" are made of such hard rubber (or possibly plastic) that they don't afford any traction when applying the brakes -- they skid on cement and carpet, and even slip sideways on vinyl floring. However, I have used mine daily for two months, walking abouts a half mile a day, without any problems. Except for the poor brakes I would give it five stars because it is so sturdy and otherwise well designed. Hope this helps.

Q: How do I Adjust the brakes, they aren’t even touching the wheels?

There are small gnarled adjusting things at both the brake and the hand brake pull. It should have been set up from the factory.. Also, you can read the instructions.

Q: Does this walker fit through an average home door as you go from room to room?

No it does not fit thru normal doorway in a house.
