Definitely a 70's Gem!!! Takes you to "Different Worlds"
This is definitely a 70's gem!!! I am so happy this show made it to DVD. It had lasted only 2 seasons, but had a lasting impression with me. Angie (played wonderfully by Donna Pescow) plays an Italian woman who falls in love with a rich man (Robert Hays). Angie has a sister (Debralee Scott) and an overbearing mother (played perfectly by Doris Roberts). I think why I clicked with this show so much when I initially watch the show, is because the characters reminded me of my mom, aunt and Grandmother (Same type of mannerisms in their relationship as the characters in the show). The theme song is also such a catchy song ("Different Worlds" by Maureen McGovern) I had to download it from ITunes! (and yes, it's very 70's as well)I know the tag scenes have been edited out, because it does seem like the pace of the show storyline goes a little fast, but honestly, because the series had such a short run, and it was from a very long time ago, you really not going to remember all that much of what is missing. Also on the plus side, you get to see some great special guest stars, like Danny DeVito ("Taxi") appear in one episode who plays a similar "Louie" character he did on "Taxi". And Richard Dawson ("Family Feud") in which the one episode actually features the characters playing "Family Feud". This was also a Garry Marshall production.....so the platform for how the show runs is very similar to "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley". And Doris Roberts, plays a very similar "mother" character as she does in her best known "mother" character in "Everybody Loves Raymond". She is a real treat to see....and most of the time, makes the show. Overall, I highly recommend this DVD set of an excellent series that has been somewhat forgotten.

Underrated Gem ((UPDATE))
It's a 3 stacked disc case I'm not happy with, so I bought a 3 (not stacked) disc case and now satisfied. I was 9 when this show aired in 1979. Watched with my mom back then, she passed, so now I'm collecting our shows we watched back in the day, Angie was one of them. 😁👍 ((UPDATE)) Missing Episodes, Joyce's daughter Hilary played by Tammy Lauren had none of her appearances on the Incomplete Collection.

EXCELLENT SERIES - WORTH THE 40 YEAR WAIT FOR THE DVD!
Angie was one of those shows that was grossly underrated during its run, mainly due to the fact that it bounced around ABC's schedule during the 2nd season. The casting couldn't have been better - Donna Pescow and Robert Hays had a great chemistry and Debralee Scott & Sharon Spelman had their characters nailed! It's a shame that Diane Robin & Tammy Lauren didn't make it to the 2nd season or that the show itself didn't get a 3rd...but that's TV.Some of the reviews here have mentioned the quality of the episodes and that they seemed to be the syndicated versions. The latter is obviously correct when you look at the run times, but I personally don't think that it affected the stories. As for the quality of the 'prints' ... it's like going back to 1979 and watching it on a TV with excellent reception. It's not Blu-ray quality by any stretch of the imagination, but they are excellent prints given the fact that it was recorded 40 years ago. If you're someone like me that has waited for this to be released on DVD, you will NOT be disappointed! It was very well worth the money and I have no complaints about the quality, seller, shipping, etc.

A hilarious classic.
I love this show. Other reviews compare Theresa Falco to Doris Roberts' other famous role Marie Barone. In truth, this they couldn't be more opposite. Marie was a total narcissist who cared only about herself but Theresa is much more reasonable and sympathetic. She's always happy to go out of her way to make her daughters happy, plus she gets along very well with her son-in-law. Although she does always criticize her younger daughter Marie Falco (Debralee Scott). However the bumbling and somewhat naive and dimwitted Marie brings it on herself by making a lot of really stupid mistakes. One time Theresa let her run her Newstand. Marie proceeded to lose money (she insists it was because she was robbed). However in an act of pure stupidity she gave the robbers all the newspapers too. When her mother said she was supposed to sell the papers, Marie replies: "What and get robbed again?" Sharon Spelman is truly despicable as the main antagonist of the series, Angie's snobbish selfish sister-in-law. Robert Hays is fun to watch as Angie's husband Brad. Finally Donna Pescow is a delight as Angie Benson (nee Falco).

Great Sitcom
Its always hard to sustain a comedy very long anymore. Angie was a rare example of a good effort. Donna Pescow was great as Angie. Robert Hays was fun as her suitor/husband & Doris Roberts was her usual charming self as Angie's mother. I had seen some criticism of the transfer onto DVD as far as quality goes. It seemed to be fine. If you are a serious retro tv collector as I am you will want to add this GREAT SITCOM to your video library.
