Was hopeful, but let down.
Auto temp will not turn heat on. Adjusting the temp with Alexa just turns off the thermostat instead of adjusting the temp. I've talked to "support" (laughable), they verified that with my settings, it all looks good & the heat should be coming on at night. (Side note... the schedule only allows you to set the temp you want when you wake up & Go to bed. So if you'd like another temp, let's say when you come home from work, well you better set that manually.) Other than that their only other advice was to return it. But that puts me in a crappy situation because it's now my only thermostat. Also, let's say I did have the foresight to remotely cool the house down before I return from work... the app has completely stopped working. It says I have no internet (not true). I tried it on & off WiFi. I even uninstalled & reinstalled. I guess I just got one of the bad ones.In a perfect worked, Lux would send me a new thermostat (just the thermostat itself), I'll pop mine off the wall & pop the new one on them return this one. If I HAVE to unhook everything to return this one I WILL be going with a different brand. This whole experience has been very disappointing because it's such a handsome unit. The only one with this style. & although it lacks in only a few features that the others offer, it promised many nice features but with an elegant design. Looks like I might end up with another 'tablet' on the wall.

For strange areas like the mid-Atlantic that start off chilly and end up ...
This thermostat does one thing I haven't seen so far. For strange areas like the mid-Atlantic that start off chilly and end up sweltering, the Kono is able to switch back and forth between heat and AC to maintain desired set temperature, instead of being stuck on heat to bring the unit up to temperature and then being powerless to bring the temperature back down to that point as it increases during the day.I also like IAQ mode as a fan setting- this runs the HVAC system's fan every so often so you get filtered, moving airflow but without it constantly running. The only challenge I had was in trying to change to a different wifi network SSID. I never really figured out how I did it but it was basically starting the setup process all over again meaning I had to reprogram it from scratch. Doesn't look like there's a way around that, even if you change your password.

Great thermostat for someone that knows what they want.
I don’t trust a thermostat to try to figure out what’s best for me. Some of the learning thermostats try to do that. I think I can do better. This thermostat has all of the benefits of a programmable thermostat with the ability to override it remotely. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I can set a program that fits my lifestyle and save a lot of energy by turning the temperature down to 50 degrees when I’m at work. Even during our MN winters it normally doesn’t run until it’s warming up the house when I’m returning home from work. The downside of this setup is when I come home early it’s uncomfortable in the house. With the Kono I can use my phone to raise the temperature before heading home early. There are some features that set this thermostat apart from others:1. Price. It’s one of the lower priced smart thermostats.2. Control. I can override the programmed temperature like many thermostats, but I can also tell it how long to hold the over-ridden temperature. That prevents it from resetting when the next programmed temperature change happens, so it resets when my hold time is expired.3. Control. I can set the temperature swing value to cause the furnace to run less frequently saving energy and wear and tear on my furnace.4. Converter included. Most of the smart thermostats require a C wire connection with added expense which can be a problem for older homes. This thermostat includes a converter in the box. Youtube videos walk through the installation process of the converter.5. Internet programming. I like the ability to set all of the initial time/temperature settings on a website that is friendlier and quicker than other options I’ve seen.6. Energy reports. The smart phone app and website allow we to see when is running and how long. It’s a great way to get feedback about how well your settings are working. This was the right choice for me.

Elegant design, highly functional, easy to use & in my opinion at least one definite advantage over the Nest product...
This is a great Thermostat! I was looking for a smart WiFi capable unit that wasn't overpowering in size, like the Honeywell, but provided full functionality... This unit fit the bill & frankly I think it has a significant advantage over the Nest unit. I noted Nest has a built-in rechargeable battery & so, since they have a useful life, I contacted their technical support & they said they "do not replace" the battery, so if the battery fails outside of the warranty period (2 years), you need to get a replacement unit. The Kono does not need a battery.... I sure am not buying a thermostat expecting to buy another one in 3-5 years.... Also, the Nest unit is much more expensive than the Kono. Some would say it does not have a system that automatically programs a schedule for you, but I think I would find that "over-kill". I did contact Lux Products customer support for help with set-up & they were very responsive!
