Great for uneven and rocky ground.
I like the added stability when walking on uneven ground. The only think I dislike is one of the tips may be defective. The metal teeth emerge will emerge without my turning the mechanism and I have to stop walking to turn the mechanism by hand to hide them. Itโs a problem when walking on wood floors and tile.

Works quite well for me
I suffered a tibial plateau fracture which will have me using crutches for 3 months. I'm a caregiver for my 94 year old mother, so I was looking for better tips with more grip and stability. Also I live in Michigan with winter on its way. They work great on tile and hardwood floors and grass and concrete. The retractable spike will unlock after a time using the crutches. The reason is that they grip very well to all surfaces. So to alleviate this issue, I loosened the screw and removed the spike mechanism while not needed for ice., and reinstall when being outside on ice. The weight is perfect for swinging the crutches while carrying plates of food and drinks which is excellent. Also a bonus with the cross footprint is you can hook and grab things with them. They are pricey but worth it if you are an active person with crutches. They fit very tight to the aluminum hospital crutches I was given. Good product

Performance bad, expensive and hard to manipulate
I have used Ergobaum crutches for three years. Am a new amputee from motorcycle accident. Love love love the crutches. Have terrain caps now. Have had couple falls lately that left me with sprained ankle. First time frightening experience in that I am not mobile unless I crawl. We figure the tips are worn. They are not the original tips. Putting on mtn tips has been bad from the start. They were incredibly difficult to get on. One spike circle broke off. Got them on best as I can but they are not on same as previous tips. The one spike circle will not stay up. Every time I put them up they end up back down. I can tell by the sound of the crutch when I walk. Even trying to put them in up position is hard to do. In fact I am not able to move the inner piece at all, my husband has to do this. For such a tried and true product, I have to go to another company for tips that are super slip resistant, that donโt break, and are easy to put on and to move in/out on spike piece. Have to say that this whole experience surprises me in that the crutches are amazing. I have purchased three pairs of crutches and am due for another set. Thank you for opportunity to share this experience.

Solid base, insecure teeth.
Great quality. But needs a slightly better way to retract and lock the spike/teeth ring.

Good for Ice and snow.
I live in a state where we get snow and ice and that can make it tricky to get around in the winter. The texture is grippy enough that i donโt have to worry about my cane slipping out from me. I didnโt use the pop out feature this winter so I canโt say how well that works. The head itself is a bit bulkier than i expected so it took some getting used to. Overall I would say it was worth using as it gave me confidence while using my cane.

A great addition to my crutch
This is a great crutch tip, keeping me stable in mud, snow and rough terrain. My only issue has been keeping the spikes tucked in when not needed. I have removed them until next winter. I have had to learn to watch when I walk to avoid the long ends from getting stuck under doors, this prevents the edge from getting stuck and tripping me. This is not hard to do and is easier than slipping and sliding in snow and mud. I have cut my number of falls each week sharply since I began using this tip.

I have someone with a 3-D printer making me a tool to help with locking and unlocking the cleat.
It works amazing well in the Wisconsin winter. I do struggle with getting the cleat to retract once I get inside.

Excellent
Absolutely amazing: so much grip and provide safe assurance at every step. It is the second time buying this after using first ones for two winters.

Not suitable for the elderly.
I purchased this for my elderly mother thinking it would help her in her winter outings, unfortunately, she canโt retract the grips when she enters a building. Not practical for the elderly with restricted hand strength.
