Powers Garmin DriveTrack GPS, and RECEIVES TRAFFIC DATA!
Works with my Garmin DriveTrack, including getting traffic data!My problem is that I need to power two or three USB devices in the car and can't afford to have my Garmin GPS using up the cigarette lighter plug just for itself. However, to receive Garmin's Traffic data seemingly requires that their car cigarette-light plug power supply (TA-10 or TA-20) be used, as it "contains a traffic antenna." After using one of the monstrous multi-cigarette sockets for a while, it was time to try and find a small compact solution that wouldn't interfere with my car's gear shift lever. After a bunch of testing, I found that the APPHOME unit works just fine with my Garmin Drive Track unit...INCLUDING RECEIVING TRAFFIC DATA. However, as a note, Garmin makes a large variety of GPS units that use a variety of different Traffic signals. Thus, my positive experience may not relate to your unit....but it may.Since there seems to be a lot of mixed info on the Garmin GPS traffic reception requirements, I've summarized below the results of MY tests with MY Gramin 7" Drive Track unit:1) If I plug my Garmin into a conventional USB cell phone charger unit (typically with five wire data cable), the unit displays a cautionary banner that traffic can't be received without the proper cable, meaning a Garmin car unit (TA-10 or TA-20).2) However, the traffic signal is received just fine with a 5 foot (five wire) USB extension cable inserted between my Garmin DriveTrack unit and my Garmin TA-10 charger.3) The traffic signal isn't received (caution banner is displayed) if I try and run my GPS off its internal battery with no plugged-in power supply.4) Once the Garmin is started up with the TA-10 or TA-20 charger AND traffic reception received, the unit can be unplugged from the Garmin power supply and the unit will continue to receive traffic data...even with nothing plugged into the GPS's USB power jack. Thus, the cable check is just at startup and before traffic signal acquisition..5) In cutting open a Garmin TA-10 power supply, I found it uses just a 2-wire connection (5V and ground) running between the GPS and the power supply. This is the same as what the APPHOME unit has. I didn't see any signs of an antenna or antenna loading.6) In looking at the power signal quality (amount of high frequency EMI present on the 5 V DC) of the Garmin and APPHOME units, I can't see any noticeable difference. Both very clean.7) Since my GPS unit doesn't have a traffic signal strength indicator, I can't tell if the signal strength is the same or not with the two power supplies. However, I'm located in a fringe reception area and haven't noticed any difference between the power supplies.Bottom Line: The APPHOME unit works great with my Garmin unit and receives full traffic data...everything I wanted. I've used the APPHOME unit on one long trip so far and I'm pleased as punch. Small, compact and provides power for my Garmin GPS as well as my cell phones, etc.Highly recommended!

Mounts nicely on the Left Side of Driver's dashboard.

Works on my Garmin Nuvi 67
Works perfectly on my Garmin Nuvi 67 and gives me extra use with up to 2 USB charging spots. The only thing negative that I can say, is that it connects in the opposite direction which is not a really big deal as there is enough length in the cord to fold it and so it doesn't make much of a difference... Great Deal, it Works and I would recommend and buy again!

Good design, works fine with Nuvi.
This charger is a nice balance of design considerations if all you want to do is power your Garmin GPS and also power two USB devices. It does not support the "Traffic" function on Garmin GPSs because the power cable does not contain the traffic "antenna" that is contained within the original factory cable. If you want to use the traffic function, you need to buy the Garmin inverter, sold on their website for around $25. That (Garmin) design is a piggy-back extension of the original factory cable that provides two USB plugs on the side. By piggy-backing the original factory cable, the antenna is still there and the Traffic function is unimpaired. But Garmin's piggy-back design is long and unwieldy, and this unit is short and compact. However, if you don't use "Traffic," then this is a sweet design. It isn't long and unwieldy, and it routes the cable nicely to the passenger side, it's compact and it gives two USB plugs surrounded by a pleasant blue light, which is not nearly so bright blue as the product photo might suggest. The cable is Garmin-compatible and doesn't trip any "unsupported cable" alerts, and it doesn't make you wait for the maps to appear the way a direct USB connection would. There are two small negatives in addition to Traffic not being supported: For the Garmin Nuvi 2500 series at least, the mini-USB connector is upside-down of the orientation used by Garmin cables, so you need to make a small loop behind the GPS to direct the cable downwards toward the dash, rather than upwards towards the windshield. This is easy to deal with. The other negative is that this cable is 2 meters long, more than 6 feet, which might be necessary or convenient in a large SUV, but too much cable in a small sedan. These are minor quibbles. Overall, this product seems to nicely balance a lot design requirements at a good price.

Causes "No traffic" warning popup on DriveSmart 6.5
I bought this charger in 2021 and it was a perfect replacement for the OEM version. I bought it again at the end of 2022 and now when it's plugged in, there's a modal popup dialog box every time the GPS starts warning that the cable does not offer traffic. (I don't care about traffic, but turning off that feature doesn't make the warning go away).

Worked well at half the price
I travel with a Garmin GPS along with the window mount and charger. After plugging into the cigarette lighter in the car, and driving through the Nevada desert for Utah - the Garmin gave an error that I was using a non-Garmin USB cable and would not charge. I found this very dangerous and shame on Garmin for forcing this issue. I was able to continue via the GPS on my cell phone and reached Utah, but immediately ordered this non-Garmin (they did say Garmin compatible) which was half the price of buying it from Garmin - and it worked. That Garmin would risk someone's life by putting some sort of chip in the cable and not charging is a disgrace, I'll give my money first to a competitor.

Works as expected!
I purchased this model to replace a similar one that became damaged. I like that the charger cord comes from the side of the charger. Makes it so much easier to plug in cables to the other two ports. The cord is long enough to plug into the outlets in the console storage. The fit in outlets in some vehicles is a bit tight, so there is no worry of it sliding out. USB ports don't appear to be quick charging, but the still get the job done. Definitely a good choice!
