Literal Life Saver
A stray mama cat brought her 5 babies to my yard to live in my shed. I was able to trap Mom with a larger trap and get 4 of her 5 babies by trapping them inside their shelter made out of a tote. The last kitten was VERY elusive! Nearly 24 hours later and the baby finally got hungry enough to go into the trap. We used a little trail of tuna juice and small bits of tuna, placed a towel over most of the trap, which helps the kitten from panicking too badly (you cannot cover the area where the trigger bar goes out). Put a little towel on the bottom of the trap, so the baby isn't feeling the wires underneath and felt more secure walking in. The end of the towel rested gently on the trigger plate with a clump of tuna on it. This trap literally helped us to save the little kittens life and reunite it with mom and its siblings. Now, they call can be fixed, vaccinated, socialized and have a beautiful life ahead of them. So thankful for this trap and that it worked so well. My husband assembled it and said it was quite easy to put together and rig up.

Similar to an earlier version
Trapping feral kitties who set up their tiny trio on my porch for TNR. Set up two traps for the mother daughter duo. As the stray, meaning dumped male, Sylvester, asked to come in the house to the kennel rather than walk into the carrier. He’s had a successful vet appointment. For the traps, set two up next to each other. The cats are use to me calling them for food. Upon working in their habits since November to make trapping easy. Today’s the day. Cat walked in this trap. Toward the wild caught sardines. Trap didn’t close. Cat walked out. As though she suspected something. Despite the traps being outside tied open for a month until we could get an appointment. Trap hack for quick release, add Vaseline to the hinge when set. Experienced trapper taught me this to help. Compared to the older version this trap is a little harder to close leaning on the floor panel. Upon setting have tested the trap a few times. Compared to the other that’s not been used yet this one requires more weight. Added wild caught tuna to the older trap. It closed easy peasy. Easily nabs the little lady. She feels so safe on the porch from working on grooming the cats for this event she didn’t wince when it shut. Kept enjoying her tuna. Meaning less stress for her. She didn’t freak when I walked up to cover her with a baby sheet. The only thing that the trap, old or new, doesn’t have is a clip to hold the gate closed. A friend lent me a trap that has a clip. Used a piece of wire to tie it shut. Since Tschuss tried to slip out. Her name means goodbye in German. The kitties aren’t very hefty despite eating well this winter. This one kitty probably weighs about eightish pounds and is less than a year. Maybe nine months. Tschuss was on the panel that should have helped shut the trap. Added more Vaseline and hoping this new trap works for kitty number two by tomorrow night for their Thursday appointment. Happy with the trap configuration. Like that the back opens and has a wire clip to create a sturdy back end. Easy to set. Only issue is the trap requires a little extra pressure to close. Hoping this next kitty will full court pressure the panel to help the cage close. Good deal. Should work long term when nabbing other kitties when they show up for TNR.

Caught 2 adult squirrels in 3 days
Put it out back and didn't get any "hits" for a few days. Peanut butter was the bait. Then - one early evening - checked the trap and it had a guest! That night - well after dark - I drove with the the entire contraption in the car trunk about 30 minutes away far into the country/woods and released. 2 days later, caught another adult squirrel, this time in the attic during the day. Moved the cage to the garage waiting for night to re-unite the friends. Thanks to an IR webcam in the attic, I was able to determine another critter was visiting/living there. What that photo doesn't show is that the raccoon won't fit or even get too close to the cage. Raccoons are much smarter than squirrels. My reading says that raccoons usually come into an attic for babies and if a mother is removed from her babies, she will easily break into the attic using all necessary means. Basically, if we can't get the babies out and lead the mother using them, expect $500-$1500 in damage as she gets back inside. This cage was completely ineffective for smaller chipmunks. Don't know why they avoided it. Because it was perfect for squirrels and worked well for that, I'm satisfied. Looks like a multi-faceted solution will be needed here - chemical, relocation and blocking access once all the critters are out with refreshed chemicals every month or two will be needed. We enjoy watching wildlife in the back woods from our porch. We just don't want them breaking into the house and causing damage, disease, and helping mold grow. Should note that the cage closure is dependent on gravity and can become off-set/stuck in some situations. Mounting it in over an exit in the soffit won't have it close. It needs to be horizontal on a mostly flat surface to work. The cage was sturdy for squirrels. They weren't able to bite through the cage.

Would buy again
We bought this one and then a different brand. We've caught a full sized brown squirrel and a chipmunk in within four days of having it set. Its worked real well. Really easy to relase them too. I keep having to rebate the other brand of trap we bought its not working.

Dangerous, flimsy piece of junk.
Warning: This trap is the biggest piece of junk I have ever ordered from Amazon and a death trap for any animal captured in it. It is flimsy, hard to assemble and cannot possibly worked as described. I have used other traps of this type and there's no way this one works to safely trap feral cats or other animals of a like size. I have to wonder if this is a bait-and-switch situation with this product and this manufacturer. The photos included by other purchasers in the description look nothing like the trap I received. I am sorry that I cannot give it no stars. The wires of the trap are smaller and flimsier than the wires on my bird cages and bend readily with just finger pressure. The trigger plate in the bottom is about the thickness of two layers of aluminum foil and bent at a 90 degree angle the first time I tried to set the trap. Additionally, the "hinges" (material bent around a wire of the trap) on this plate are so tight the plate does not move when pressed down but the plate readily bends in the middle whenever pressure is applied. The rear door does not close properly and will allow struggling animals to get heads or limbs stuck under or around the sides of the door. The wires are sharp, jagged and cut my arms in several places while I was trying to assemble and set this trap. A trapped animal would be badly injured while struggling in the trap. Unfortunately for me, when this order arrived I did not immediately open the box and look at the product. I assumed this trap would be at least functional and I put it away until I needed it. Therefore, I am stuck with this piece of junk and cannot return it. I cannot stress enough how dangerous I believe this trap is to the animals captured in it.

Peewy! I caught me a skunk
No complaint really but whatever I caught kicked the door right out of it. And yes, they are big enough to catch a skunk so you might want to set them up off the ground on some blocks unless the skunk is your quarry. Easy to load bait I added a little cardboard tray to make the critter walk across the trigger.

Rat trap
I purchased a similar trap to this one. I caught 2 squirrels & a possum. The problem with the older trap was the door. I believe the squirrels were positioning the tail so the door wouldn’t completely close. I applied a small magnet to the door to add weight. I see the new trap has a heavier door so magnet is not needed. We currently have a rat problem that these traps are excellent for catching these rodents. I bait the trap with birdseed. No, I don’t release the rats.
