The Book of the Cat: Cats in Art

As other reviewers have stated, this lovely book has several cat art images I have never seen, even with an extensive art history education, being an artist myself, and a collection of ‘cats in art’ books.The images are sometimes accompanied by perfectly wonderful quotations about the cat.Enjoy!

A book of wonderful paintings and drawings of cats - totally charming - and many I have never seen before in any art book. Fun to peruse, especially if you love cats and/or art. I keep it on my coffee table and look at it often. Gave one to a friend and she loves it too. The photo is of my cat, not from the book.

I was really impressed by this compilation. There is quite a lot of recent pieces from the 2000s, which I didn't expect, but they are mostly pretty high quality. There are a lot of pieces that capture the unique personality of cats, and I feel like extra credit should be given to the authors who curated the pieces for this collection. It's not just a general book of cats in classical art, but the majority of pieces have a little extra character, feeling like they come from an artist who has at some point in their lives, known and loved a cat. It just felt a little extra special to me.

The Book of the Cats is light reading and is a joy to cart lovers.

If you can’t find something to get a cat lover try this book. It has many short stories and pictures of cats and it should go over well with a cat lover makes great coffee table display book!

This is amazing, beautiful and intersting book. It has an extensive compilation of masterful artpieces. I give 4 stars because the book covers are very fragile. The front cover's edges started peeling backwards. I was able to fix it with a little of glue, but still, not good.

Saw this in a museum and thought is was a great gift for a cat person. The reaction told me this is a 5-star item. :-)

This is such a great book that I have already given it early as Christmas presents. Great art and , although I am an artist who has taken many art history courses and read bios of many artists, I found much new information that I had not encountered before. It is also a great browsing book for the coffee table.
