10kW heat kit with circuit breaker for select Goodman units (HKTSD10X1)

Really happy with this heat kit. It fit my Goodman system perfectly, and the built-in circuit breaker is a big plus. The install was easier than I expected, and the heat kicks in fast and evenly. Overall, it did exactly what I needed. Glad I bought it and I recommend it.

Installation is pretty straight forward though you should have some sheet metal screws to affix the breaker mounting bracket to the case of your air handler (my air handler was from the ARUF series). Screws are in the kit but they are larger than needed/desired for the breaker bracket (would need to drill out both the bracket and the case holes. Be mindful that there are minimum fan speeds associated with Emergency Heat (Aux Heat) so if you install a kit your air handler should list on its name plate and/or instructions what the minimum fan speed is for you particular air handler to ensure the heat kit gets the proper air flow. In my case, that was to move the motor tap to High (different air handlers will have different means so check YOUR specific unit. Remember too, 10KW is like powering 100 100-watt light bulbs, at once! So you don't, necessarily want to use a heat kit any more than you have to and you also don't want to oversize what your needs are. You can use the various temperature rise charts associated with the heat kit in various Goodman air handlers or you can also use your fan speed as a guide (how fast do you have your fan tapped (presumming a mult-tap system) and size the heat kit to work at that fan speed.

Great product no problems

This Goodman is a replacement for my 18 year old Goodman R22 unit that was past its prime, but never needed repairs except a leak on the evaporator line that was covered under warranty, years ago. Thanks to Bob who helped me from purchase, delivery and filing the warranty. Jim

This may cause problems . The pin connectors are not right I burned mine up need to replace it.

This was a very easy installation and by using electrical heating elements, you don't have to have any special ducting to ventilate out the carbon monoxide that gas central systems require. The cost was very competitive too! I am using electrical heating units for all upgrades to my rental houses so that I no longer have to worry about carbon monoxide leaking into my houses and causing anyone from getting ill or possibly dying !
