Bulky
IWB/appendix variations are bulkier than my other holsters; makes concealing difficult w/o a jacket or oversized shirt. OWB/hip variation is quite nice though.

Good but not great
1. Quality, material, workmanship = really good.2. Adjust'ability for cant on IWB appendix and OWB belt slide configuration = does not exist. You can not adjust holster cant of the IWB appendix carry configuration or the OWB belt (loop) slide configuration because those have the belt "interface" (the clip or loop) attached to the holster in only one spot so when the belt is parallel of course the clip or loops are also which means the holster will always be vertical.3. Paddle configuration = sticks out really far. Its nice but is really hanging out there, so unless you are in competition or really really into open OWB carry, this option is useless. This configuration is not for concealed carry. If they included a paddle version for concealed that was adjustable in can't and height it would be really great.4. Not complicated to configure out, but functionally could have been better = Ok I think for the idea and concept of a "modular holster" its good'ish. But its not great because there is a lot of "looks cool" and "over engineering" and some wasted improvement-opportunity going on, and a lack of functionality adjustability for some configurations. For example; The aliengear "alien head" paddle "looks cool" but does not fully stabilize the OWB paddle holster configuration against the body and belt and due to its shape and size it focuses the "wear" into one smaller spot against the body instead of distributing the bearing load to stabilize the holster more. Then not being able to adjust the cant and height on two of the most popular concealed carry configurations, the IWB appendix and the OWB belt slide, detracts from about 50% of the core carry pack usefulness for two of the most popular concealed carry holster configurations.5. Despite the implication from others or reviews or the company marketing language the core carry pack is still only focused on the 4.0 IWB carry with the large backing and the adjustable clips. In this aspect its good, and comfortable (subjectively) - but still has some issues; The holster configuration is really intended for a 4 - 5 o'clock position behind the hip bone because the 3 o'clock position on the hip bone although there is contact with the backing against the body the hip position causes the holster portion (with gun holstered) to sort of pivot on one spot along the horizontal axis. This 3 o'clock position issue is a result of the holster portion (with gun holstered) not having actual full "firm" contact vertically as it begins to ride on the pivot point provided by the shape of the hip bone even though it may feel like it does have full contact because of the backing.Overall: A lot of configurations but it only does one well which is the 4.0 IWB carry with the large backing and the adjustable clips, but then only really in the one body spot 4 - 5 o'clock position behind the hip bone. The IWB appendix carry and the OWB belt slide are functional, but their usefulness is dwarfed by the lack of adjustability of height and cant leaving them with "just gotta accept it and move on" so for IWB appendix carry and OWB belt slide, or even the OWB "paddle" configuration, I'd recommend holsters specifically made for and designed for that use because the alien gear "one size fits all" "modular" concept although functional lacks in these areas.

Missing part. Excellent holsters.
This is my second aliengear holster. My first one was used daily for years. Mowing the yard, shopping, everyday life use. I would 5 star if the box wasn't already opened and had a missing part. The push button for the outer carry configuration was missing from the package. I have now used 2 of the 4 configurations and love this holster, probably more than the earlier version. It's the shapeshift core box.Edited. I was immediately contacted by customer support. I was asked which parts were missing and told they have been expedited to my address. Will update when parts arrive. I am very pleased with the customer service from alien gear. Their reps are just as high quality as their products. Customer for life. Thanks again.

Great quality and versatility
I have had a few holsters now since buying my 9mm S&W Shield Plus Performance Center however they just weren't right for me. I bought this shapeshifter holster, primarily looking for a level 2 thumb release and also looking for more versatility in a holster not knowing exactly what I like yet in a holster. After a few uses, I am very pleased with the quality of materials and versatility, especially for those who don't know yet how they like to carry. This assures great passive retention for your gun. The holster so far has held up real well for normal everyday wear and the back padding for IWB is very comfortable, as is the IWB paddle. There are a lot of parts and does take some getting used to assembling the various options. My biggest disappointment with this so far is the thumb release. I am not sure if it will just need breaking in or not but when testing the thumb release out, the release did not release the pistol and actually got jammed or is just so tight in there around the trigger guard and had to get my husband to get it out. He nearly couldn't get it out either, I thought we were going to break the thumb release pushing so hard. Trying it again with the half shell, it appears the release just has a hard time getting around the trigger guard on release. The thumb release also covers what feels like so much vertical distance for my thumb it doesn't seem practical then adding the stiffness/difficulty it already has to release the gun.I don't think I'll be using the thumb release which is disappointing as I really was looking for a holster with this option and was so excited when I realized the shapeshifter had it. Overall, I would highly recommend this brand but I would not buy it solely for the thumb release (which is removable).

Pretty good.
Comfort is ok, could be better but it is versatile

Not What I Expected.
Advertised, the package seems awesome! When i received, I was disapointed at what I saw And felt. Tried putting together, two pieces did'nt match to fit. Not to offend, but this set up felt more for airsoft or paint ball, not for firearm field or edc. The material for firearm shell was of a brittle'sh plastic, I was being careful not to break it while trying to put together, but pieces were not coming together properly either. The backing for the shell mount felt like just a really thick flexible piece of tire tube lined with soft material.Sorry guys I had to return.

Great way to try many holsters at a decent price
I bought this for my M&P shield not long after I bought it to CC more comfortably. The combination of a smaller gun and a padded holster is great and it helped me to carry it more. I start with the in waistband with the two belt hooks but I switched to the one they call an appendix carry because it only has one hook making it easier to take on and off. I have didn’t like the paddle holster but I want to retry it sometime and I haven’t used the belt holster at all but I think that would be nice for open carry.
