Avantree Wireless Portable TV Speaker & FM Radio 2-in-1, with Low Latency Bluetooth TV Transmitter, Ideal for Seniors, Hard of Hearing - Audikast 4860

This is a small, sleek, well designed radio with great sound and a strong, consistent, reliable Bluetooth speaker connection. Although this is an older model, its better than the later Soundbyte T model, which has a Bluetooth connection problem. This model works and works well. I also like the fact that it uses the universal USB-C type charging cable. I highly recommend this.

I bought this for my 97-year-old mother whose hearing has diminished over the years. Easy setup with the TV and absolutely no lag between what you see on the screen and what you hear from the speaker. Audio quality is excellent, and volume can be pretty loud if you want it to be. Battery duration seems to be good and lasts quite a while before needing a recharge. FM works well too. The size is smaller than I was thinking but it really packs a punch. All around nice speaker/radio!

I have a hearing problem and this little speaker is just the right thing to hear the audio clearly and you can take it from room to room if you so desire I like it and recommend it

Update 4/19/25:I'll end up keeping it, but it has unpredictable BT connectivity. I have to bring it within inches of the transmitter to reconnect. A PITA!But ... I learned that if the BT is turned off in my phone which is in close proximity to the Avantree, it will finally connect to it's transmitter. If the phones BT is on, it will not connect.Update 3/9/25:Bluetooth cuts off for unknown reason 8 feet away line of sight. A couple times I unplugged and repowered the BT transmitter and it reconnected. If this problem continues I will remove another star and return it.Original review: "Punches above its weight" applies to this speaker/radio. Can get VERY loud. Connected to the supplied BT transmitter instantly. The audio lag is very slight - might want to turn down the tv speaker volume to reduce the very slight echo effect. The radio picks up lots of stations in my neck of the woods. One particular weak FM station is picked up as well as or better than a $200 radio next to it and it uses an external antenna. I love the simple as pie station presets.

I have several other Avantree products and have always had great success with them. They are reliable and work great. This is no exception.I would have been happier if it did not have an FM radio built in, because I don't need it. But what I do need it for works flawlessly.Basically if we are watching TV in bed, this makes it really easy to hear with low volume. Speech is easy to understand for us Gen X'rs.Then if my wife decides she is going to sleep, I simply plug my headphones in the jack on the side and continue watching without disturbing her.Latency is very low... this is the same for all Avantree products. The latency is not detectable.I love that you can just recharge it with a USB cable. The battery lasts weeks. ANd the transmitter is powered by the standard USB port on the side of the TV.One thing to note is that if you use optical out on your TV, which i use, you usually cannot also play through the tv speakers. This is not a problem for me because this essentially replaces my TV speakers for my use. But it you have a soundbar or something like that, or want to listen using the TV speakers as well, this may not be the right product for you.

This was the easiest set up! Audio is strong and receiver is half the size of all others I've had. Plus it is also a radio.

the QR code for instructions did not work. Youtube video's were not for this exact model. i followed the written instructions but product would not connect. Factory re-set did not work. Waste of time

This is a passable small FM radio. Reception is OK sound quality is fine for talk shows not great for music. Certainly better radios available for the price.The key feature of this device is it has Bluetooth and comes with its own Bluetooth adapter to attach to a TV or other device. But, at least in may case, the Bluetooth unpairs on average once a day, which requires power cycling the adaptor at the TV to reconnect. For me this makes the 'wireless' aspect of the speakers worse than useless.
