Want this for my son’s school bag will it leak if laid down ?

No as I leave mine in my gym bag in the boot of my car and it’s never leaked. Just make sure you screw lid in tight.

If I put it in the freezer will it make the water become ice?

Im not sure, id imagine it would. However its unnecessary, i just fill it the night before, refrigerate overnight and the water stays really cold for hours. I took it to the beach recently, and despite the sun being on it all day, the water remained really cold. Highly recommend this product.

does the water come into contact with any plastic or silicone?

This is a stainless steel water bottle so there is no plastic

CAn I fill with sparkling mineral water?

You can fill with any type of drink sparkling, still, hot or cold it works well with all
