Product Description jowika Granulated Natural Erythritol and Stevia Sweetener / Sugar Substitute jowika Granulated Sweetener is a natural, calorie free alternative to Sugar made from Erythritol and Steviol Glycoside (Stevia). Erythritol, a polyol (sugar alcohol), is granulated like Sugar and tastes very similar, without the bitter aftertaste associated with many other sugar substitute sweeteners. jowika Granulate has approximately 1.5x the sweetness of Sugar - in Japan Erythritol has been commercially used since 1990 as an ingredient in sweets, chocolate, lemonade, chewing gum and yogurt. The harmful bacteria in our mouths can use sugar for energy that helps them grow and multiply and erode our teeth. But Erythritol is different; it cannot be metabolized by oral bacteria, and like Xylitol does not cause cavities. Erythritol’s caloric value of zero calories per gram (GI = 0) and high digestive tolerance distinguishes it from other polyols like Lactitol, Sorbitol and Xylitol. Humans don’t have the enzymes to break down Erythritol and as it is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream from the small intestine, without being metabolised, and eliminated by the body within 24 hours, laxative side effects sometimes associated with excessive polyol consumption are unlikely when consuming Erythritol containing foods. As Erytritol is not metabolised you can omit the stated carbohydrates when counting calories meaning it is ideal for a low carb diet and also suitable for diabetics as it does not affect the blood sugar level. I found that when I baked with this - even though I added less my foods came out super sweet. I am still trying it out - I just need to work out how much to use without having that stevia aftertaste (a sickly sweet almost chemical aftertaste). If you are used to using stevia then it won't be a problem for you. Overall this is a great product at a great price. If you are new to either of these sweeteners then use less in baking. Stevia is mega sweet and erythritol of used in very large quantities will give a tingly almost menthol after taste.

Very happy with this product
Very happy with this product. The taste is good, unlike some Stevias maybe due to it being mixed with Erythritol .This may also explain the price. I would definitely recommend this product and feel it represents good value for money!.

Expiry date
Expiry date was of only one month which means that a large part of the packet would have to be discarded. This makes it very expensive.

Not sweet at all
I had many erythitol/stevia sweetners and this one is hands down the worse. There is no sweetnes to it yet alone thats 1.5 sweeter than sugar. Total waste of money

Improved natural sweetener with a good natural flavour
I am a big fan of Stevia, As it is one of the most natural ways to sweeten foods without the use of harmful chemicals and GMO. In the past this mix of erythritol and Stevia was not sweet enough, But i bought another pack years later - only to find that the recipe had been improved and now tastes great. The new version tastes natural like sugar, But without the chemical aftertaste that most other sweeteners have. This is low in calories and low in sugar, Which is perfect for my new healthy diet. Overall I'm impressed with the improvement with the recipe as it is tough to diet when you have a sweet tooth. This allows me to get my sugar hit without the sugar consequences.
