So I purchased this book and it was my “ Go to “ for gems before I took my gemologists class. I often read it and it still has the best information, images and descriptions of each gem . Definitely recommend this for anyone interested in gemology or as a reference to help identify.

A wonderfully written book with so much relevant information for both novice and accomplished gemologists. There is a wealth of reference material in tables breaking down the many different classifications of gems. The only criticism (hence 4 stars instead of 5) is that the imagery of stones could be better when trying to educate the reader on things such as inclusions or the identification of man made or lab created stones. Using the internet as a supplementary source of such detailed imagery would be recommended when reading the book.

Great little book covering all aspects of the subject. If someone wanted to know more they’d need to do an apprenticeship!

Great book excellent text on Gem stones together with easy accessible information and beautiful photographs. Its quite hard to get this book in the UK. The Seller ( company) was excellent , I had a small question and it was answered very quickly. It had to come from America but still arrived 2 weeks ahead of time.

Has everything you need to know about gemstones. There is even a section on using them for healing. Some of the terminology takes a bit of getting used to but a fascinating read about gemstone production, history, type, where found and loads more. I also like that it is hard back and small enough to carry. Also packed with colour photos. Recommended.

Enjoyed this book, it is very informative on all different gemstones, even lesser known ones. The pictures look great and you can view the gemstones in a variety of cuts. It is ones of those books that you can refer to and re-read over and again. Well put together and thought out, loved it!

Love this book, it is like a mini encyclopedia about gemstones from A to Z, the quality of the pictures are not that great

This most recent volume has updated my little research library. Each new edition has new stones and this one can stand alone as complete. It was listed as used in good condition. It is perfect and ThriftBooks.com got it to me quickly.

Liked the book
