Excellent, Fun Drone For Beginners!
If you looking for your first drone to learn how to fly or just for something fun to fly, then the Soma X5C is an excellent choice to consider and its very well priced.Firstly I've read some of these reviews, and some people mentioned that it did take a while to come however I ordered my quadcopter and it came within a week. It arrived very well packaged, in a strong and well presented box, so it would make an excellent gift for a loved one. Its a ready-to-fly quadcopter, so it requires very little assembly. The propellors come already attached to the drone, so just simply attach the propellor guards (if you want these on), charge the battery and insert 4 AA battery into the remote and your pretty much ready to go, its as simple as that. Also just so you know before buying, the 4 AA battery do not come included with your purchase so you will need to provide these yourself. Even though this quadcopter is easy to set-up, it’s defiantly worth reading the instruction manual before flying to fully understand the operations. If you've never flown a quadcopter or drone before, then it will take some time getting used to flying the Syma so you will find yourself crashing quite a lot. But once you've gotten the hang of flying, you will find the Syma X5C really fun, and enjoyable to fly. And its probably one of the best drones to learn in. There are two flight modes on the Syma, standard mode (mode 1), and advanced mode (mode 2). If you're a beginner, stick to the standard mode and then when you feel more confident move up to the more advance mode as you can fly faster and perform loops (without the propellor guards and camera attached). The Syma quadcopter handles light wind conditions well, however it will really struggle in strong winds, so its recommended to only fly when its fairly calm outside. You can also fly indoors, however I would recommend adding the propellor guards when indoors.I was also really surprised at how well the Syma X5C handled crashes, even crashing into the pavement, the propellors or body didn't break or crack. If any of the parts do break, the spare parts are very easy to find online and replace when required. The battery on the Syma X5C will last around 7 minutes, so you will get 7 minutes of flight time with the Syma quadcopter. This is very good for a quadcopter of this price range, and its rare you will get a quadcopter at this price range lasting any longer than 7 minutes. My DJI Phantom 3 (at £1,200) only last 23 minutes per flight. You can buy extra batteries if you want longer flight times, and they are cheap to buy. The Syma's battery takes around 90 minutes to recharge again, and the charging cable is included. There is also a 2MP camera included on this quadcopter, it produces fairly decent pictures and all the footage is stored on the SD card for later viewing. You cannot view any live footage on any apps with this quadcopter, just so your aware of that. Overall the Syma X5C is an excellent beginner quadcopter, which is really fun and enjoyable to fly so I could highly recommend it to anyone.

The good bits are it's a £40 drone
I have mixed opinions on this... The good bits are it's a £40 drone, that is very easy to set up and fly, very robust, good fun and has everything you need to fly except the controller batteries in the box (it even has a screwdriver and some spare rotors). The not so good is that it's really a bit big for flying indoors but too light/not powerful enough to fly in any more than a light breeze outside. This means that you reach the limits of the drone quite quickly as a light wind easily blows the drone onto an unpredictable course or out of controller range quite quickly. When the drone is away from the pilot, it's quite easy to lose track of which way the drone is pointing (it has no live camera view - I certainly don't expect this for the price, it's just an observation). If you buy this make sure you buy the extra batteries for the drone. As one battery gives about 8 minutes flight time.Overall I think it's terrific value for the price, a good starter drone.

What a Surprise!
Utterly surprised! I wanted to purchase an entry level drone but not pay too much for it. This drone fitted the bill perfectly but I was suspicious that something this cheap would be any use or sturdy enough. I read all of the reviews and decided to purchase this drone and some extra batteries for the model (also from Amazon). When the package arrived from China, in reasonable time, I couldn't wait to try it. Quickly unpacked - batteries charged & fitted - then my first flight! The manual was easy to understand and I managed to get used to the controls fairly quickly - the drone did fly into the ceiling, doors, furniture, me & windows while getting used to the controls but without any damage! I felt confident enough to take the drone into the outside world - the day was fairly still, so from the confines of my small garden off I went. I had to rescue the drone from the neighbour's a couple of times but was fairly pleased with my first outside effort.Over the next couple of weeks I took the drone outside as much as possible (weather permitting) including a couple of fairly blustery days - I am now fairly confident of using the drone, can make it fly at any height and in any direction - I was surprised to find just how far the drone can be flown from the main controller & how high it could achieve! I have used the camera quite frequently and the video quality is surprisingly good - the one shot camera picture quality not so good but this is a £30 drone & camera!I know I'm using the word surprise an awful lot but that's how I feel about this drone - the fact it comes with all the necessary accessories to view the 4GB mini SD card (fits into a small plastic USB reader) - the small Phillips headed screw-driver + spare blades (not used as yet) all for such a fantastic low price.People may be amazed that I have given this product 5 stars as it does have some failings - battery life (approx. 7 mins); camera quality; not being able to see what you are looking at when filming; but this drone is just over £30! and for that price you cannot fault it - I reckon my adult son now wants one for Christmas & quite a few people that have seen the videos I have taken & been told about the drone want one.My advice - buy now (before they realise this is a perfect starter kit & put the price up!).Pros - PRICE; Easy to fly.Cons - At the price none - but buy more batteries to extend the time you can fly.

Sum up - Good for beginners
This product offers a wide range of functions for the beginner drone pilot. First of all, ot flies easily. The drone has a well made controller that comes with many features to improve the flying experience: Motion/thrust LCD indicator, 3 axis trim, 360 flips and a few other things. Not only does the drone fly well, but it is accompanied with a 720p camera. This camera is not what you want if you need quality, compared to a DJI drone's footage, this is 1700s tech. But, if you are not to fussed about cameras (or you want to see that ball on your roof) then this is the drone for you. Please note: This drone is not FPV, which means you cannot see the footage on your phone during flight. Please be warned, the flips wear down the motors quickly, if you are not careful the motors will burn out and the drone will be useless. Overall, its a good buy for a beginner
