GiGi Brazilian Body Hard Wax A Non-Strip Formula for Sensitive and Delicate Areas 396g

Really good product. Thought I would give DIY waxing a go as professional waxing is so expensive, and in my experience not always that good. I am by no means a professional but didn't experience any of the problems that some customers have listed below e.g. flaky wax, difficulty in removing wax etc. If you have never had a professional wax then I wouldn't advise to try this as your first attempt because there is a technique to it which I picked up from watching what my beautician was doing. I used the Mylee wax heater and this tub fitted perfectly inside. It took around an hour on the hottest setting to fully melt so allow yourself lots of time. Once the wax has properly melted turn the heater down to medium to stop the wax being too runny. I applied talcum powder to the area I was waxing which is meant to ensure that the wax doesn't stick to the skin and just catches the hairs which stops it being too painful (it definitely was still painful but that is to be expected!) I applied the wax in the direction of the hair growth using a wooden spatula and did very small sections at a time leaving a 'handle' at the bottom. I waited about 30 seconds for the wax to go hard and pulled it off against the direction of the hair growth. It pulled almost every single hair out leaving your skin really smooth and pulled all the hairs from the root. It took me a really long time to do the whole area but that's the price you pay for waxing yourself, hopefully I will get quicker as I get more practice in. Overall a great product that will save you a fortune if you can tolerate the pain / have the time

I purchased this wax as I was sick and tired of shaving daily. Gigi wax was recommended to me by a friend who does waxing professionally and to start with I was quite sceptical as to if this wax would give me the same results as I had previously experienced at a salon. Well I can tell you that this wax is absolutely AMAZING. To start, I have super course hair, that normal Veet wax will not remove, but Gigi removes every single hair in the area that its placed. The great thing about this is that you don't need to mess around with applying paper or material sheets to pull the wax off, you simple flick over a corner when set and pull off in one go! TIPS: I would highly recommend that before starting the waxing process you wipe a very small amount of organic coconut oil onto the skin, VERY sparingly as you don't want to ruin the contact between wax and skin. Don't allow the wax to get to dry and brittle as its very hard to remove and hurts like hell. You should wait about 30 seconds after applying to remove the wax. Apply the wax in an even thickness, this ensures it catches all the hairs and comes off much easier. I can honestly say I will continue to purchase and use this wax, in fact I have just ordered another 3 pots so I don't run out! =D

Ok firstly a little bit of background, I have used warm wax before and it wasn't very effective, so therefore thought hard wax might be better. I didn't have a wax warmer so heated this wax by putting the tin in a saucepan of boiling water for about 10 minutes **warning! if you do this don't let the wax get into the saucepan because it is very hard to remove**. I used it on my bikini line. It did not come with a applicator so I used a stainless steel knife which I used a lighter to melt off the remaining wax after So I will say it does remove hair (not all but most) but it is the most painful thing you will do. It doesn't come with strips because you just peel of the wax when it is cooled. Be careful not to leave it too long or it becomes brittle and hard to remove about 2-4 minutes is about right depending on the thickness you spread it. I would suggest having it fairly thick as it helps when you are trying to rip it off. One thing I will say it is messy really messy. If that wax gets on fabric it is near impossible to remove, I found that the best way was to put a thick plastic bag under you which you can reuse. Also left over wax is very hard to remove from yourself, I find a hot shower works the best, you will also be a little red in the waxed area so I normally do it the day before the event I have waxed for. I've found it takes about 5 days to start growing back the more you use it the more time it will take to grow back. Basically it does work if you can handle the effort All in all it does work

I used to spend best part of £30 a time having my bikini & under arms waxed every 2 weeks. Having decided to do it myself (like most of my beauty routines) I invested in this wax to use with my wax pot. It’s easy enough to use - highly recommend you oil yourself first, apply reasonably thick (doesn’t have to be inches thick, but if you spread it on too thin then it won’t come off in one go) ensuring you have a bit of a bulky edge to use to grip. Once it’s started to set & is not so gooey to the touch I highly recommend you use the “pat” method & tap the wax for a good few seconds to unstick it from your skin, so when you pull it off it’s not adhered to your skin as well as the hair. This will help to reduce the pain as well as ensuring the wax comes off easier. Pull against the direction of hair growth (so if the hair grows downwards, pull upwards). I invested in some wooden spatulas, almond oil, cotton wool pads and some old towels as part of my waxing kit. If you heat the wax too much it will be hard to apply more than a really thin layer and will burn you, so ensure your temperature is set correctly to get the best consistency. You’ll need to turn the temperature down as you get down the wax otherwise again you’ll cook the wax and in turn burn yourself causing damage & peeling/blistering to your skin. Basically, for less than £10 I can easily get 2 waxes out of this which covers a full Brazilian, under arms and any other little bits such as eyebrows or toes. I have tried other brands and have come back to this one time and time again.

The wax is nice and thick if a little problematic. You need to put a very very thick layer on and work fast, once the wax is cold/ cooler it WILL crack. I found this a little awkward but I am not a professional and I think with a little practice this will be great. You will need pre and post wax lotions etc to make this easier. On a massive plus I found that this wax didnt irritate my skin at all.

I love home waxing but this is by far the worst product I have ever used. If you plan on using this with strips I would not buy this at all. The wax dries rock hard making it impossible to get off. When I did my legs the wax dried so hard that when trying to peel it off it crumbled instead as it was so brittle, so I had to pick it off which was very painful.. you really have to put it on and peel it off STRAIGHT AWAY otherwise its a nightmare. don't use this in your lady parts its absolute torture. and I used this months ago and some of its still on my bathroom floor as when bits of it dropped on the floor it is impossible to clean up as like I said before it dries to a concrete hard consistency. Hard wax like this I find incredible painful and I'm going to stick to my soft wax. BTW it did certainly get the hair off in the end as when it dries so hard and I had to pick it off the hair ripped out (ouch!) and it did leave a clean area however it is not worth the hassle.

Why did I wait for so long before buying it? This product is fantastic!! I didn't buy the wax warmer, so I put the tin inside a pot with gentle boiling water (coming up mid level) and then I waited I would say a good 25 minutes before being able to apply it. I used wooden sticks and followed the instructions. For most of the time I have also used paper strips, but I could see that the wax can be easily taken off even if you don't use any strip (just apply a thick layer in a small area and wait 30 seconds).Well, I was expecting to suffer 10 times more than the pain I usually feel when I go to the Spa, but actually it was soooo smooth and I felt just a little pain. And all in the comfort of my house, no need to assume awkward positions in front of a stranger and much, much cheaper. Yes, at the end I had some bits left here and there, but I used some almond oil and they came easily off. I would definitely recommend this product.

I hate the hassle, expense and tedious small talk of getting waxed almost as much as I hate an untended lady garden, so like many other reviewers I decided to give DIY a go. I'm so glad I did, and I'm so glad I chose this wax for my maiden waxing voyage. I purchased this wax along with a wax warmer and bulk pack of wooden spatulas, and I'd advise you to do the same if you're considering the DIY route. It took quite a long time to melt thoroughly, at least an hour, as the packaging states, but that might be due to the cut-price wax warmer I went with. I thought it would take me a while to get the hang of it, but using this wax was really very simple: I applied in small, thin layers, like putting jam on toast, let sit, then ripped off. It wasn't at all painful, which surprised me. The whole procedure, discounting the melting time, only took me about 20min, and I reckon I can do it faster as I get more experienced. All in all, a satisfying little bit of DIY that's saved me both money and dignity.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: “waxing was a mess, drips was everywhere, the experience was painful and not so great”. UPDATE: I have stopped using it after a long time and decided to give it a second try. Now my opinion radically changed. This time, I applied wax oil in prior . And it worked wonderfully. It perfectly removed painlessly all the hair without pulling. My method of applying hard wax also improved so there is no more reaidue that was hard to clean up, and no more dripping. Advise: you have to use only wax oil, any other oil won’t work

Ignore any negative comments you’ve read about this product. The wax is amazing, and any trouble that arises with it is all about temperature and technique. I’ve been using this for years, and I’ve perfected the technique over time. Believe me when I say the trouble is not the wax. You will NOT be an expert the first time, but it gets easier and faster each time. That being said, the first time I used it, I thought I might be walking around with great globs of wax attached to my hoo-ha until I had them surgically removed. It was bad....REALLY bad. So know that I have experienced everything that can go wrong with the wax, and I still say it is not the fault of the wax. To help others avoid the pitfalls, I’ve decided to share some pointers. *Supplies you’ll need: paper towels or an old towel, a mirror, warmer and wax, wooden spatulas (tongue depressors work too), baby powder, baby oil, scissors if your hair is long, and No Bump to apply to freshly waxed skin *Before you do anything else, trim your hair to about 1/4 inch. If you don’t, it’s going to hurt more, be more difficult to remove, and potentially pool in a way that makes it almost impossible to remove. *If this is the first time waxing, or if you’ve had difficulty in the past, make sure you’ve got a couple hours to devote to the waxing process. (This doesn’t include time to heat the wax.) *Heat your wax. While this sounds simple, it’s one of the most crucial steps to success. It takes the warmer a long time to heat the can of wax when it’s new. Be patient. I turn it on high until it’s hot, then turn it to low once it’s heated. The consistency of the wax when you apply it is so important. You’ll need a wood spatula (they come in the kit) to stir and apply the wax. When you dip the spatula in, the wax should not run off like water. If it does, it’s too hot and thin and won’t provide good coverage. It might also crack, making it really difficult to remove. If it’s too thick, like honey, you’ll not only waste a lot of wax, but it will take longer to dry. The consistency should be somewhere between water and honey. It is far better to have it somewhat closer to honey than water. *Take a couple Advil about 20-30 minutes before you apply the first bit of wax. It really helps. I have forgotten before and could definitely tell a difference. *Spread a towel or paper towels on the floor to catch any drips. I either stand or sit on the floor for the waxing. *Get out the baby powder. It is your new best friend. Some people use oil at this point, but I had trouble getting the wax to stick to the hair. Anyway, I liberally apply baby powder to the spot I’m getting ready to wax. The powder keeps the wax from sticking to your skin, but dries the hair so it sticks to it. I also dump some into my hand and rub it all over both of them so there’s a coating on them. This will keep wax from sticking to your hands when you either drip it on them or try to pull wax before it’s completely ready. Now it’s time to start waxing. * Dip your spatula in and get a glob of wax on it. I hold it above the warmer for a few seconds and run the bottom over the edge of the can to scrape off drips. Apply the wax to a small section, maybe 1 x 2 inches. I always start on the outside and work my way in. Run the wax in the direction the hair grows, from the root to the end. You want the wax to be dry enough to peel, but not too dry. Since my hands are always coated with powder, I gently pat the wax a couple of times. It should be dry enough to remove within just a few seconds if your temperature is right. (When you apply the wax it should feel really warm, but certainly not hot enough to hurt you.) With your free hand, hold the skin taut above and below the waxed patch. With your other hand, grasp the bottom end of the wax. Technique is important. Imagine you’re peeling the wax off, not pulling it. This can be achieved by keeping your pulling hand close to the skin as you peel back toward the base instead of pulling upward. If wax drips somewhere, or if you got it on you fingers while peeling, it’s a good idea to let it dry before attempting to remove it. *Powder the next section, and maybe your hands again if they need it. Keep doing small sections. I like to leave the landing strip until last, because it’s the most painful part of the process. *They tell you not to go over the same section more than once, but I’ve never had trouble with a second application to get straggling hairs as long as I powdered the area again. *When you’re completely finished, you’ll no doubt have some wax on your hands, and some bits left behind. Before I ever get in the shower, I pour baby oil into my hands and remove it and the wax bits with a paper towel. Next I pour more into my hands and rub it everywhere the wax touched. I feel for stuck bits as I rub it across the area, scraping gently with my fingernail to loosen them as I find them. I then wipe that all off with another paper towel. I shower using ivory soap on the waxed area which cuts through the oils very effectively. *After showering, I apply No Bump to avoid ingrown hairs. It’s a good idea to use it after every shower, but it burns like fire the first time you use it after waxing. If you keep up with waxing, it’s faster because your hair doesn’t all grow in at the same time. It takes me around 50 minutes to wax now.

LOVE this wax! I suffer from PCOS so I have coarse dark hair. I also have very sensitive skin and Ive found that soft wax irritates as sticks to my skin and doesn't remove much hair. Hard wax lifts off my skin as it cools and removes every hair it comes into contact with (so be careful not to drip this onto any hair you want to keep; like eyebrows) I don't use this for Brazillian so I can't comment on that, but this is excellent for facial hair. I use the Gigi warmer on medium which I find heats the wax to the perfect temp. It's important to not let this cool too much after applying as it will harden and be difficult to remove. Because of this, I do only one area at a time. Even so, it takes me less than 5 minutes to do my face; above, below & between each brow, left & right upper lip, under chin X2, 1 centre neck, 2 'sideburns'. 13 in all with very minimal plucking after (I sometimes miss a cpl on my chin). It leaves behind very minimal residue, and my sensitive skin is only slightly pink for about an hour. This usually lasts 2 weeks for me as my hair grows very quickly, but waxing this often doesn't irritate my skin at all. A friend asked me to do her brows (about 8 or 9 hairs lol) and she couldn't believe that it didn't leave any redness whatsoever. When she has it done with soft wax at the salon, she's left with red welts around her brows for at least an hour after. A tub will last me quite some time, and, as usual, it's cheaper on Amazon and you get it delivered at home!

Love using gigi wax for years now, it is applied easy and main thing is that it comes off skin easy. It captures all of your unwanted hair. I still haven't found any better wax.
