Olfa RTY-2DX Deluxe Rotary Cutter, 45 mm, Yellow

Already had a cheap cutter which didn't cut properly so decided to spend a bit more and by a half decent one as it is very frustrating trying to cut material for patchwork with a blunt cutter. I read the reviews on this and it seemed just the thing. However, I think this is a cheap copy of an OLFA cutter. The plastic is very thin and disappointing. The blade worked really well- twice. After that it kept leaving little bits of material attached and finally, after only a dozen at most tries, it hardly cuts at all. Very disappointed. My local craft shop have offered to have a look at it next time I go and to try one of the genuine blades in it for me. They wondered if it was my cutting mat causing the problem but apparently not as I do have a high quality one. The only plus to this item is I did find the grip easier as I have arthritis in my hands. It seems my quilting is doomed as I just cannot get a decent rotary cutter that actually cuts!

Although it is easy to hold the blade is rubbish and it doesn’t cut cleanly through the fabric (a single layer!) Very disappointing as it was supposed to make cutting out easier. I tried to find out how to get a replacement but your site only explains how to do returns. Not impressed at all

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE "OLFA" ENGRAVED ONTO THE BLADE THROUGH THE CLEAR PACKAGING. I didn't even get around to opening it. The pack is not the same as in the seller's advertising and more specifically does not refer to the new longer lasting Endurance blade with the infinity symbol which was in the photos. I went back to check the reviews and A LOT of people are complaining that the blades are dull and of very poor quality. Well when I looked at mine close up, it wasn't even OLFA branded, old or new. So it is going straight back.

Brand new Olfa rotary cutter only partially cuts fabric. Looks like part of the blade is not cutting so end up with useless partial cut only - see photo. Purchased for gift for Christmas, only just used for first time but as 4 days after 30 day return there is no way to contact Amazon or supplier to raise comment. Was led to believe Olfa made high quality quilting products. Clearly not if my experience anything to go by. Faulty product, no support.

Absolutely useless. I got this on recommendation but it does not even cut paper properly. I use a proper cutting mat behind what I am trying to cut and what I usually end up with is a ragged edge. The cutting wheel revolves - perhaps it should but I could get the same type of cut using my Bread Knife. I have now gone back to my Scalpel that I have used since time began and it works every time. Don't waste your money on this device, just buy a Scalpel and some Blades and replace the blades regularly.

I thought this rotary cutter would solve my problem using scissors but I was very wrong. This “cutter” just doesn’t do its job. It cuts a bit of material then misses a bit and so on. I then have to use scissors on the missed bits or keep going back and forth over what I was trying to cut 😡

bought this item few months ago when it came blade was completely blunt but did think it was me that was not using it correctly so tried again blunt !!! sent for replacement blade which was really sharp and i was impressed - unfortunately after cutting approx 6 pieces of material blunt again !!! what a load of rubbish i have spent approx £17 and ended up with a useless item - would have thought the blades would have lasted at least 2 or 3 months - very very disappointed !!!

Was very disappointed with this cutter. He doesn't cut my material. I have changed blades and bought new blades and still won’t cut.

Estoy muy contenta con el cúter. Es muy seguro porque a diferencia de otro que tengo, la cuchilla sólo permanece fuera mientras se aprieta el mango. También he notado que pesa menos que otros cúters. El corte es fino y totalmente uniforme y no requiere de una segunda pasada para hacer efectiva la separación de telas. Además funciona genial para el corte de papel y cartón, por lo que lo aconsejo para ser usado por niñ@s, siempre bajo supervisión, puesto que no deja de ser una cuchilla. Debo decir que todavía no le he dado excesivo uso, por lo que no puedo opinar sobre la durabilidad y/o desgaste de la cuchilla. La única pega es que la cuchilla recoge residuos de tela al cortarla, al menos con tejidos de algodón, por lo que requiere un mantenimiento más constante. Aún así mi valoración sobre el producto es de máxima satisfacción.

It's a good purchase, received the blade today and tested on some cotton fabrics with folded in 8 layers and it did cut the fabric smoothly. You do need to put little pressure and hold the blade steady and in one stroke; 'voila'. Makes my job easier. Now, let's see how long the blade's sharpness lasts. Hope it goes a long way.

Love the ease of this cutter, is a fraction of the price of what is sold at my local Janome store - so glad to have found it here.
