Simple, functional layout, tactical look, nice features.
Casio G-Shock. Model - GD-120MB-1ER. - Black (matt) - Negative display). This is the second G-Shock I've purchased since my excellent and long serving Casio Pro Trek PRG-40 finally retired itself after MANY years of service. Any new watch replacing a Pro Trek had some very tough shoes to fill indeed. My initial replacement was a different model G-SHOCK (GA-100-1A2ER (black, blue)). Despite being a stunning watch, the illumination is absolutely terrible and the watch can't be operated in low light! I still wanted to keep the GA-100, but that then left me needing another watch that provided FULL illumination when I required it. Side by side and excluding colours, externally the cases, buttons and straps of both watches are identical, essentially, it's just the parts inside that differ.1. Comfort. Truly exceptional. It's not even broken in yet I can barely feel I'm wearing a watch. The strap is specifically shaped to fit the profile of the wrist and as it gets warmer, it shapes to the wrist even more. The strap is wide with a double clasp to stop any twisting, etc. The strap is a very smooth durable resin, so no issues with sweat or moisture and very easy to keep clean. Casio really did think about making them comfortable and got it right.2.). Aesthetics. The watch and strap is completely "matt black" with a brushed SS double clasp. With a black face and the negative display, as far as colour goes little stands out (unlike watches with bright colours all over the face, straps, etc). This in itself oddly makes the watch stand out. If you're looking for a more tactical G-SHOCK that doesn't have colour everywhere. this may interest you. The strap and external layout is the same common design shared amongst countless other G-SHOCKS. In low light the negative displays can become more difficult to see. The white LCD digits don't stand out quite as well as is often shown in pictures or advertisements, etc, which can be misleading. The layout is simple and functional which I've found useful. It has all of the usual and well known G-SHOCK functions and features, yet the watch face isn't cluttered like other models. Simple, clean and easy to read display at a glance.3.) Ease of use. Standard G-SHOCK order of set up, these watches are not complicated to set up or use for first time users. Whilst some models obviously differ from others in purpose, etc, they all share the same or a very similar method to set them up. World time, stopwatch, timer and alarms, etc, are all very straightforward to select and use. The buttons have the usual surrounds to stop them getting damaged or inadvertently pressed. As with other Casio G-SHOCKS or Pro Treks, the buttons have quite a squishy feedback to them, not a click or solid feedback. May feel odd if you've never used one before but you quickly adjust to them.4.) Display. Negative display, which can be harder to see in low light (but this model has great illumination), easy to make out in good light or strong sunlight. In normal time mode you get the basic 12/24h time with seconds, day and date. The small dial far right lets you know which specific features are enabled at a glance, larger dial far left and central dial simply count off seconds in blocks. Depending on which mode you're in after that, the dials then perform other individual or specific functions, etc.5.) Illumination. Very good. It doesn't illuminate the entire watch face, but the main LCD screen and dials illuminate enough for you to be able to see and use all of the functions of the watch in any lighting conditions. It's bright enough to light up the display but not so bright it'll give your position away if you're using the watch for such purposes. (Some G-SHOCKS have poor illumination, so do check the model you're looking at suits your needs). As with my other G-SHOCKs, the "auto illumination" can be over sensitive and can often trigger from normal movements of the arm. Over time this hammers battery life. IMHO, best to simply disable this feature and manually illuminate as required. As with other G-SHOCKS, you can specify the illumination to remain on for 1.5 or 3 seconds. Unlike some other watches, the illumination doesn't remain on for as long as you hold the light button, you simply get 1.5 or 3 seconds per press.Overall, an impressive watch for the money. The all matt black case and strap, and black screen does look rather "Ninja". All of the usual G-SHOCK features included. These watches can potentially last indefinitely and they can most certainly take serious punishment and just keep on going. If you're purchasing to invest in a watch to last you for many years or for their ability to withstand punishment rather than as a fashion accessory a G-SHOCK will serve you exceptionally well for this purpose. Ultimately, do your research and choose the right model to cover your specific needs. Different models cater for different purposes, so compare several models before ordering that you're choosing the right one for you.Would I buy a replacement if this model of watch was broken, lost or stolen? YES! Durable, comfortable, ample display, good illumination, and.... It's a G-SHOCK!! Definitely recommended right across the board. 5/5!!

Great! Not bright screen on purpose... MB = military black aka COVERT.
Firstly I like this watch a lot. The MB in the model number is "Military Black" and it is designed to be more covert. So if you are looking for a bright and bold, big and clear watch this is not for you. It looks badass and has all the features I actually need.It has 5 alarms which can individually be set off, once only or every day.StopwatchCountdown timer (pizza in the oven etc)world time which I don't really needIt is a decently large watch, so perhaps not best for people with smaller wrists but who knows, that could just be a style thing. Also, the pictures on heinnie do not show the buckle on this model which is fantastic, it has double prongs to ensure a very secure fit.My previous watch, from Heinnie Haynes, the GD-X6900-1ER had a 10 year battery life on it's particular battery type, whereas this new watch has a 7 year battery life. While I would have preferred they stick with the larger capacity battery, 7 years is not bad at all... (costs about £25 to have a professional install the battery and pressure check the water seals etc)This is waterproof to 200m and the 6900 model I told you about was tested by an independant company and it was military spec protection against tons of things. This model here is very similar and since it also is a G-Shock watch it should also perform admirably, particularly since the MB is dedicated for military personnel who want all-mat-black.A very high quality watch.Oh also, the thing I hated on my 6900 is fixed on this model, because I would accidentally toggle the 12/24 hour mode on my old watch and since there's no AM marker, I would not realise till afternoon that it was in 12 hour mode. On this new watch you go into the actual settings screen to select which time mode you want, so you cannot just easily accidentally send your watch into 12 hour time or 24 hour time if you don't want to.

Best value for money watch out there
I ordered this watch because I needed something for my physical activity.I've been using it for a few months now and I absolutely love it. I'm wearing it all the time, it looks amazing (even better than on the photos) and it's probably the best value for money watch you can get.I shower, workout and sleep with it and it has zero signs of wear. I hit it on various occasions and it doesn't have a scratch on it...Unbelievable! For this price, it's a bargain. Now for the notorious display...I don't understand why people are saying they can barely see the time on the display. For me, that's not the case.Yes, sometimes it is a bit harder to see the time, but you just need to fix the position of your hand and problem solved.Even if that doesn't work for you, the watch comes with autolumination, therefore this isn't an issue at all.To finish the review, all I can do is recommend this watch to everyone. Absolutely worth the money.

Great beater watch for the price
I needed a new watch for being out and about, going to the gym and generally not worrying about getting beat up a fair bit and the g-shock delivered as always. Well priced, durable and effective. Straightforward to use, no problems using in the gym for timing sets and wearing in the pool/sauna/steam room. My only criticisms would be that the light button is in the wrong place for me (preferred it more central like the older models) and the display is a little dark in some lights hence 4 not 5 stars Not suitable for wearing long sleeve shirts with due to its size but I have another watch for the office so that's alright with me!

Simplicity
I love it. Simple to use. No complaints with reading time I just need to angle it sometimes but it’s not a dealbreaker. I love g shocks and if you want something simple and nice get this.

fascino puro

Bon achat, belle montre
Super rapport qualité/prix. Bien emballée, agréable à porter, semble résistante. A voir sur la durée si elle est aussi résistante qu'elle y paraît.
