Exceptional Value
seems ok using it as second back up disk for my new iMac. To use on Mac just delete the disk using disk utility and formatting in extended journal. I've connected the USB to thunderbolt socket using usb 3 (thunderbolt) to USBType C Adapter,USB-C Adapter,[3 Pack],by Ailun,USB-C to USB-A 3.0 Female Adapter and the first backup which can take ours only took 45 minutes or so. with a hard drive they are like light bulbs regarding longevity they can die within days or last for years. After a disaster with my last Mac I always run 2 drives on Time Machine after my one and only drive died and I lost (but managed to recover) my data. I can't see why this drive shouldn't last well, its a good make and well priced for the size 3GB for £79 is good! Data transfer is fast

Small, compact, built to last and a massive storage size.
Having owned a Toshiba portable 500GB hard drive for many years I decided to go with Toshiba again when the time came to get more storage. The drive is infact smaller than my other one, which is staggering considering it has 6x the capacity of it. It's great that it is powered directly from the usb, I have had no trouble using it with my laptop running Ubuntu, or my LG smart TV. My laptop says its total capacity is 3TB but the TV says just over 2.7TB, which is to be expected as with all drives. A program on my laptop says that it's NTFS file format, and it has been able to take large file sizes; it would be very easy to format it to whatever file type you needed / wanted though. I know for example Sony devices, in particular PS3 / PS4 can only read FAT32 type, leading to a stupidly small maximum file size of 4GB.I can't comment on the USB 3.0 functionality as my laptop only has USB 2.0. All I can say is that it works perfectly with 2.0 and my TV has USB 3.0 and it worked fine on that too; no copying or pasting done using the USB 3.0 in the TV though. The build quality is fantastic, very solid and compact, even more so than my old external hard drive. It has small indicator light which is useful as it lets you know the drive is spinning; it will also power down after a short amount of time whilst plugged in. This is useful to extend the life of it and not wear the disk out; whilst it's powered down and plugged in you can still view it's files and it'll fire back up itself when it needs to.The cable it comes with is quite short, I haven't taken mine out of the packaging as others had mentioned it was 30cm. I bought a 1m cable at the same time so that I could plug it into my TV; I chose this cable:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Matters-SuperSpeed-Micro-B-Black/dp/B00C7SPM4M?ie=UTF8&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0which works without a hitch with this drive.I did a benchmark test on my laptop, obviously this is only USB 2.0 so it won't be anywhere near the full performance that the drive can achieve. As many people still have USB 2.0 I thought that it might be useful. The results are very similar to the old drive as expected on USB 2.0, the write speed of the old one was better, the access time was a lot better for the newer one and they have almost identical read speed.Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to increase their storage capacity to a huge 3TB whilst spending less than £100 and not having to deal with powering an external USB HDD.

Tiny large capacity external drive
Got this at a bargain price so very happy. It is only 79x119x17mm - small and compact. Huge capacity. Can store a life time of personal files and photographs or the material from a large number of projects. Idea for backing up tablet, laptop and being able to work on any system not locking USB drives out. Just as back up and transporting copies of files - a lot of data to loose.

Does what it says on the tin.
Excellent little piece of kit. It is exactly as it says: A 3TB Portable External Hard Drive. The only reason I've given it 4 stars rather than 5 is because the instruction manual is on the Hard Drive as a .PDF document rather than as a physical booklet. I half expected to have to install it and have a bunch of that silly free ware that comes with some External HDDs and USBs but there was none of that.If you're looking for extra storage or quickly changable storage (somewhere to keep your music, films, work) I would recommend this.

Excellent solution for my 500gb Xbox One
I have had a couple of Toshiba memory cards before and have always been really happy with them, but researching this (and other drives) before I bought it I was a bit disappointed to see so many generally recommending to "just stick with Western Digital" and so was a little apprehensive. There was no need to be worried. This works excellently with my Xbox One - games load significantly faster, transferring existing games was fast and painless and the drive is silent in use. At the price I paid for 3tb there is no other brand approaching it in value I believe and, so far at least, the quality of performance is absolutely satisfying. So providing it maintains it performance and lasts a sufficient amount of time, I can't see there being any better value/solution to my small xbox storage.

Fantastic for Xbox 1
Excellent drive. This works perfectly on my XBox 1 for expanding the measly internal 500Gb hard drive. This one is a super fast drive and has had no issues in the two months since I bought it. I can now install all my games quickly and be playing all day long. Perfect

cracking hdd
Bought this hdd to add extra mining capacity to my laptop. Picked up by the laptop almost immediately on Windows10, and through USB 3 it has a fairly rapid rate of transfer and providing a boost to storage space. The only downside is the supplied cable was a little short for my needs, but a longer one was cheap enough to buy and works perfectly.
