Doctor Who Trans Temporal Screwdriver

The main thing you have to remember about this item is..... its a toy. Even so, it does look very good and even has the hidden sound effects when pressing the button numerous times making different whuurs and buzzings.its excellent for fancy dress if you have decided to go as a "new" Doctor or even perfect as a SteamPunk item due to certain parts looking very Victorian as well as space age.the only thing I didn't like is that due to it being part of the "Personalise Your Own Sonic Screwdriver Set", it came in pieces and so when putting it together, it isn't as secure as I would like it to be such as the bottom needing to be screwed on and it being slightly loose.But as Screwdrivers go, not a bad one!

Long discontinued, this was an absolute bargain at this vendor's price. It's a little eccentric, as toy sonics go, as it's a brand new design and not one ever featured on television. But it is a very nice design (particularly the window on the barrel which lights up as well as the emitter).

I bought this for my grandson for his birthday. He loves it but last month the bottom section of the screwdriver fell off due to a section breaking off and so this section won't stay on!! He's so disappointed. I am enclosing a photo for you to see. Please let me know what you would like me to do next. Thank you Fiona Atkins.

Had to replace the batteries as they presumably are the original ones from 2012 and all pieces are so loosely connected that I might have to resort to super-glueing them together. Giving it two start because one star is worthy of how quick it came and the other is that it is rare and not part of the dr who cannon but there is a nice little story of this screwdriver on the back of the box

Quite a fun little gadget, chunkier than expected, I think they'd do well to produce a smaller line of screwdrivers for older "kids", but the larger size is probably best for youngsters.Once put together, it's pretty lightweight, easy and comfortable to hold and seems pretty tough, but there was a bit of trial and error putting it together(managed to get the button misaligned on the first go and it's not an instinctive toy to assemble and the pieces don't click together well without a bit of wiggling). Should survive being played with even if handled a bit boisterously, but be gentle with the individual parts when fitting them together/taking them apart as the connecting parts may not fit as well as they should. Once it's properly clicked into place though, it's very solid, parts don't seem to come loose with shaking/playing at all.The paint job on mine wasn't great. There's a few flaws, most noticeably some tiny bubbles/dust marks in the white paint and a bit of red on some of the "brass" parts. The flaws in the white paint are pretty noticeable, but ignorable(it's still white, just with textured parts). With this and the bad fit of the parts, it's obvious they've been made cheaply, but they still look pretty nice and for the price it's to be expected really. The quality of the parts is the reason I've given it 3 stars overall, it would've been 4 otherwise.Just a note to adult collectors: This item really is a toy and looks like one. With time and effort, it could probably be customised into something a bit nicer for display, though. Even just replacing the white handle part would be an improvement really as it's painted white with some kind of gloss(white plastic would have been a much better choice).With all that in mind, I do really like it and at the price I paid, I think it's a bit of a bargain(£7.48), but I would have paid more for(and preferred) something with better quality parts and a smoother paint job. I think it's a fun and tough toy for kids too, definitely worth buying as a gift for a young Dr Who fan! It should be easy and comfortable for small hands to hold and there aren't any small, loose parts. The light and sounds are fun and it's relatively easy to get different sounds to play. The noises aren't obnoxiously loud and can't be heard from a room or two away, but it did wake the dog from his late morning nap on the first go(he's ignored it since and doesn't seem bothered and he's not a fan of noises of that sort, so it seems pretty "dog safe" so far).I'm happy with my purchase and satisfied it was worth what I paid.***I've got the "Personalise Your Sonic Screwdriver Set" arriving later this week, so I'll update then with how interchangeable the parts are.

a nice addition to your collection. has an abundance of sounds even if some are similar. only complaint is that the handle seems out of place - even giving it a texture would have helped. not a deal breaker by any means.People in Canada/US - order it here. even with shipping it was far cheaper than anyplace in North America and I still had it in around a week.
