Stormguard 11SR0666SQM 6Sq m Secondary Glazing Window Insulation Film

I'll admit, I didn't have high hopes for this (or rather I doubted my ability to put it up effectively!) I'm stuck in lockdown in the middle of winter with a very rotten wooden framed single glazed bedroom window and no prospect of getting it replaced till I can work again. Theres gaps all round the bottom of where the window opens and during windy nights the curtains sway back and forth in the wind! I remembered my Mum and Dad using a product like this back in the 80s and thought I'd give it a go. I did stick some bubble wrap over the gaps with double sided tape to stop the worst of the draught and then set about applying this stuff. Followed the instructions and got the film stuck round the edge but I had some fairly big wrinkles (at this point I didnt care what it looked like as long as it stopped the wind!) Stuck the hairdryer on it and it worked like magic! Everything shrank into place and it pings like a drum if you flick it! Looks great, no wrinkles at all! However the difference it has made in the temperature is incredible for what is basically a thin sheet of plastic. I have gas warm air heating and although its lovely and warm when its on, once the boiler switches off it used to drop in temperature super quickly. Now the house stays warm for ages and the boiler is hardly working, I must be saving a fortune in gas! Well worth the tiny £7.62 outlay, I put it up a week ago as I half thought it would probably fall down in a day or two so I'd hang off on the review for a few days but its still up and still tight as a drum and we've had snow, frost and a few windy nights and I'm still toasty in the morning. Well worth the money, I can't recommend this enough, in fact I've sent the link to my best friend as his downstairs bathroom is freezing! Many thanks

Living in an old Victorian house with single pane wooden sash windows, I have been using this type of insulating film for the past five years and the difference is amazing. It not only solves the problem of window condensation you can really feel the difference in the temperature of a room, plus it even adds a bit of soundproofing from outside noise. Leave it up over winter and simply remove it in the spring.I normally buy the Tesa Moll branded insulating film but thought this year I would give the Stormguard film a go as not only it's cheaper you get more coverage per pack. One the whole it's pretty good, it went up exactly like the Tesa Moll film, I've been using this type of film for a few years and I can get a 5x2ft sash window done in about 15 minutes. My only criticism of the Stormguard film is that the film had some marks on it, the actual film is strong and works but there are noticeable lines that look like some sort of manufacturing imperfection.On the whole pretty good, it'll be interesting to see after a few months if it's lasts as well as the Tesa branded film which has always lasted the whole of the winter without issues.

I am so happy to have found this product, because I first used a product similar to this one when I had a small hotel in Hamburg, Germany 18 years ago. I was having problems with draughts and heating costs and I read about this system and subsequently bought it. After fitting I was able to save at least 20% of my heating costs despite lower winter temperatures and increased occupancy.I have recently moved back to the UK and am living in a quaint Cotswold cottage that has the usual single glazing and condensation. In anticipation of winter chills and water running down the inside of the windows I researched the web and found this very product. I ordered immediately and got the goods two days later. Because the Autumn had brought very low night temperatures we were already beginning to shiver a bit in the kitchen early in the morning. After "doing" the outside door in the utility room we had an immediate improvement. Significantly warmer in the kitchen now. Since then I have applied this film to almost all of the downstairs windows, and we're reaping the comfort benefits. It's a bit fiddly for me to apply because the panes are quite small, but the benefits are more than worth it and also immediately noticeable. I was running out of film and tape, so I ordered some more. Again, only two days and the package was there! Brilliant.If you feel you are in need of double-glazing but are horrified at the cost of replacement windows you can do no better than to try this out. It does the job to a "t"! In my opinion much better than replacement windows as the gaps between the panes are usually so small that the benefit gained is considerably less that with this product where you have at least twice the gap. With me this is as much as 20mm! And all this for less than a tenner! Try it, you will be as amazed as I am.Update: 2nd December 2021. I am agin totally gobsmacked with the effects of this product. Down draughts and cold zones eliminated immediately in a property we moved in to in Cornwall, having given up the Cotswold cottage.Anybody awarding less than five stars for this product really needs to RTFI! The products works. No two ways about it. I have suffered all the things others have been moaning about and on analysis realise that they were all down to me not reading and applying the instructions properly.So, reduce your heating costs and do something for the environment at minimal expense by "double glazing" your home with this foil!

Really hard to use, needs at least 2 persons to do it properly. And the double sided tape - it is insanely hard to remove the cover. After dealing somehow with those, it helps to decrease the condensation from the window.

This has been on my windows, well, some of them, for just over two hours now. These windows were painted back in the summer and have a clean, new surface. We're a listed building and unable to use double glazing so we get condensation in winter. Yet there they are with their new film duly applied, misting up like they always did despite having followed the instructions as closely as possible and cleaning the windows as thoroughly as possible. It's very disappointing. Save your money. Oh, and unless you have large pains of glass in your windows, there won't be enough tape unless you want to just put film across the whole window in which case you won't be able to open the window after application of this stuff. Additionally, it's very hard to get flat on the tape and takes ages to achieve this. It comes on one gigantic sheet that's folded down to about the size of a piece of A6 paper. This means that you have to spread it out which is very difficult if your windows are on a room that anyone ever uses because it will have stuff in it that needs moving. You then have a sheet of electrostatically charged plastic stuff that's meant to remain dust free but attracts every bit of lint and dust in the surrounding area so you have to clean it before adhering to the tape. The hairdryer bit works well and is quite fun too. The result immediately looks like it's misty outside and within an hour condensation starts to form anyway so it doesn't work.This all means that whereas I used to have condensation on my windows, I'm now around a tenner down, am fed up and I still have condensation on my windows. I also have some very sticky tape on my newly painted window frames if I remove the useless film and then have a load of plastic to send off to landfill. All in all this product fails in pretty much every single respect apart from shrinking when heated gently but as that's its only feature for which there is apparently no practical application given its performance when used as intended, it's useless. I wish I'd put my tenner in the pot towards the cost of secondary glazing one day.

My house has wooden windows which, even though they have double glazing units fitted, lose a lot of heat. The insulation is just not up to the standard of modern uPVC windows. The seals around the openings probably aren't as good as they should be either. The house tends to cool down considerable in cold, windy weather.I have used similar window insulation film in the past but the prices in the DIY stores, when it can be found, can be exorbitant! Amazon's price for this Stormguard Secondary Glazing Film at £6.50 per pack is much more affordable. The free delivery via Prime also helps too.Fitting it is quite easy and I have not experienced any problems with the tape peeling back after the heat-shrinking process has been completed, as some people have mentioned here. No wrinkles showing in the film after heating it either!There are, however, a few 'wrinkles' I have picked over the years when installing window insulation film which readers may find of help.1. Thoroughly clean the window frames with White Spirit as stated in the instructions, but make sure it is completely dry before applying the double-sided sticky tape. One tip here is to use the heat source (hairdryer?) that you'll be using to shrink the film to help dry the White Spirit.2. When applying the sticky tape try to position it a little away from the side of the frame nearest the glass. That way any wrinkles in the film, where it is stuck to the tape, will be lost when the film is heat-shrunk. Put the tape too close to the edge and there will be no room for the wrinkles to be shrunk and they will show against the glass!3. Always position the film with the 'clean side' to the frame. By 'clean side' I mean the innermost side that is exposed when the film is peeled apart. That way any dust that the film has picked up should be on the outside where it can be wiped clean after it has been fitted.4. After applying the film onto the tape, and when you are sure you have eliminated as much wrinkling as possible, press the film firmly onto the tape using a cloth or tissue. Go around several times to make sure of a good seal.5. Using a hairdryer, heat the film evenly. I find that starting around the edges first, and in particular the corners, before finally heating the middle section works well and there should be no wrinkles showing anywhere.6. Trimming around the edge can be tricky but a good, sharp craft knife will help give a clean finish. Rub down the taped edges with the cloth once again, just to make sure.For the cost involved this method of window insulation is a real money-saver, even if it has to be re-done each Winter.When finished the film is virtually invisible and the increase in comfort level is well worth the cost and effort.A really good product and I hope this review helps anyone considering buying it.

The product is good and seems to work well.The downside is the box I received had been opened and was torn. The film seemed to be intact, however, the double sided tape had obviously been unrolled and rolled back badly and covered in dirt and fluff. I cut off the first bit and proceeded to install. I can't finish the job as there is nowhere near enough tape. I'm thinking some tape has been removed. Can't return without undoing all the work I've already done. No other options except to return. Now have to buy more tape. Disappointed. Be warned to check if all intact, another review says some film had been cut off! You have the option of a replacement if you can return it. I've knocked stars off but more for amazon than the product

There is nothing negative I can say about this product. It is easy to apply if you take your time. The plastic sheeting remains taught and invisible for weeks. There is a noticeable bit where the plastic sheet is attached to the double sided tape but this is a minor irritant. When you place the back of your hand on the plastic sheet you can feel it reflecting the heat back as the plastic sheet feels warm. I have no more condensation on the glass of my window and very little in the plastic sheet.Bearing in mind that this is basically plastic sheets and sticky tape it is doing a fine job. I will leave it on my windows for as long as it lasts. I would recommend this product as a cheap stopgap that will protect against drafts and condensationUpdate:This has been on my windows for over a year and still as tight as a drum. I cannot fault it at all. Apart from a noticeable wrinkle on the widow frame the sheet is invisible. Would still recommend.

Einige meiner Fenster sind nur einfach verglast und beschlagen schnell. In nicht beheizten Räumen läuft das Kondenswasser auch gerne den Rahmen hinab.Solche Einklebefolien benutze ich seit einigen Jahren. Diese spezielle hier im 3. Jahr. Sie ist wesentlich günstiger als z.b. Tesa und hat nach meiner Überzeugung keine Nachteile gegenüber teureren Folien.Ob ich damit tatsächlich Heizkosten spare weiss ich nicht. Allerdings ist das Beschlagen bzw. das Kondenswasser zu 99% damit abgestellt.Das Einkleben erfordert keine großen handwerklichen Fähigkeiten, aber den Umgang mit Fön (Föhn?) und Teppichmesser sollte man schon beherrschen. Die Transparenz des Fensters ist absolut gegeben. Allerdings weiss ich nicht, ob ich das auch im Wohnzimmer machen würde... Da könnte ich mir durchaus vorstellen, dass es da etwas stört.

Fini les litres mouillées et qui coulent.Pour le son, ça le réduit aussi.Toutefois, ceci ne colle pas à la vitre existent, il y a un vide entre la vitre et le film (l'effet double vitrage).Attention donc, si comme moi, vous avez des baies vitrés aussi bien qu'un enfant en bas âge (ils adorent taper sur) et un très gros chien (qui peux éventuellement poser ses pattes dessus en s'appuyant).Posé par moi même toute seule, aussi bien sur de l"alu comme du bois (si la menuiserie est peinte, vous ne pourrez plus enlever le scotch... la peinture vient avec).Certes, un peu de la "bricolade" mais cela veut le coup!Il me faudra en recommander, les 12m2 ne m'on fait que la baie vitré (et pas d'accident de pose) et une fenêtre.

La qualità è la migliore che ho provato in questa categoria di prodotti. La termoretraibilità è reale e abbastanza facile da ottenere con un phon. Ciononostante la pellicola è robusta.Per una casa in campagna ricopro dei telai in legno di due strati di pellicola. I telai sono 220 cm x 135 quindi molto più ampi di normali finestre. Eppure riesco posizionare la pellicola da solo e quando monto i telai non c'è una minima piega.Il nastro adesivo è più che sufficiente, a differenza di prodotti di altre marche.
