Works perfectly
I bought this for our living room door because if it's not shut properly it would block the view of the TV! I get fed up of shouting "DOOR!" at the wife every time she entered the room. Having kids in the house also meant that I need a very slow closing action. This does the job perfectly. I have it on the very low setting so that the door gently closes. The good thing is that it also stays slightly ajar so that the cat can come and go. Very easy to adjust the tension and could tell if I wanted it to it would close the door fully shut.It was very easy to fit, even on curved surface as was the case with my door frame. I fitted it to the bottom of the door so it is not clearly visible and out of view. This is not too much of an issue because it is white it blends in nicely and is not unsightly. It also works silently for me which was another requirement. WIll be buying more to fix to bedroom doors to stop the cat going in.

Groans and squeals a bit too much.

Works well
I found this easy to fit, it requires four screws into the door frame and a little bit of wrist strength to tension the spring. Fitted to three doors for over two years now, no signs of any failing. They cannot create enough tension in my cases to close the door onto the catch, not sure they can apply enough force for this even if I did increase the tension further. Not really an issue for myself, but the reason for the 4 star rating not 5. Small and relatively unobtrusive, good for keeping pets out of bedrooms, as per my desire of the product.

Excellent for preventing our door swinging open!
25 years ago my kitchen door hinges started squeaking, so I oiled them. From then on the door would swing open, even if just left an inch ajar. The most popular cure online seemed to be to remove the hinge pins, bend them and replace them. It worked well, until the second or third time of opening, when the pins had miraculously straightened and the door continued to swing open. This wasn't really a problem until last autumn, when we had a new kitchen fitted. With the new configuration we are now using the work top behind the door far more. It's really irritating when working in that area for the door to swing open and hit one in the back, or hit a mug or jug, or bash the open microwave door.Cue the need to find a cure.A lengthy perusal of Amazon led me to this.First very minor negative, it arrived not in its packaging as shown in the photo, but loosely, in a bubblewrap envelope. Perhaps not a bad thing as it reduces packaging. A slightly bigger negative was there were no instructions. It seemed pretty obvious how it was to be fitted, but a quick google led me to the Reilor website and a PDF of the instructions. Yes, fitting is very easy and straight forward.I fitted it to the bottom rather than top of the frame as suggested by some other reviewers. The kitchen cupboard doors open at 90º to the kitchen door but because of the kitchen design the bottom door has more clearance when fully open.Adjusting the tension once the closer was fitted was also straight forward. The tool provided was very useful, though I suggest wapping it in a cloth or at least holding it carefully to prevent a nasty bruise in the palm of your hand. The tension can be set in increments of a quarter turn. To shut my door completely with a click needed 3 increments. 2 increments shut it right to but without clicking shut. We thought this would be OK but after 25 years of being able to carry plates etc into the dining room through a usually open door it was difficult to get used to a door permanently shut. Set on the first increment, while probably useless for most people's purposes, is ideal for ours, as it prevents to door from swinging right back to hit the work top, but shuts it only far enough to leave it perhaps 70º open. We've only used it a couple of days, but so far it's proving virtually silent in operation. I will return with a review update if things change...

Disappointed
Worked fine for a day and now every time it shuts it makes an awful sort of croaking noise - rather annoying.

Noisy as hell - check video
The media could not be loaded. Simple to install and does the job with a light interior door. However, the noise is unacceptable (see video). OK inside a garage perhaps, but not within your home. There's no obvious way of lubricating it either - and I shouldn't have to do that with a brand new item.

Surface Mounted Door Closer
It works perfectly but the instructions didn't really go in to detail about adjusting the tension. Basically you insert the steel rod into one hole, rotate it 90 degrees then insert the permanent white rod. Repeat this until the tension is such that the door just clicks shut without slamming. Good value for money but instructions are non existent. Keep the adjusting rod in a safe place as you need it to adjust/dismantle it. I fitted it to a glass paneled door so had to fit it on the skirting at the foot of the door but this helped keep it out of site.

Exactly what I needed
Seems well built, easy to install (drill 2mm pilot holes, screw to door frame) and swings the door closed as wanted. Using it on the lightest tension setting as I only wanted it to make the door close gently with no requirement to latch closed. Silent in operation with none of the creaking reported in other reviews. Very pleased.
