Is this suitable for sanding mdf using electric sander?

Yes commonly used for dusty site work. P3 filtering gets viruses, never mind dust. I actually bought for, if COVID really got out of control. I have never worn it all day, I woukd consider P3 disposable cloth masks. There may be a condensation issue but I don't actually know.

is this suitable for use with short facial hair

I have a a fairly short beard about a Nō 4, using the press to check feature its possible to get an air tight seal. squeezing the press to check filters thank breathing in the mask does draw in and I have worked in very dusty atmospheres and no dust has entered the mask.
