Great when using a smartphone.I use it 2 x weekly with my stabiliser and iPhone (see photo) for filming our YouTube channel.I bought 1 a few months ago and the bracket for screwing into base of camera/phone holder was of poor design and broke within 1 dayI posted a review and Rhodesy Tech sent me the a new one. It has a much improved bracket design over the old one:GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE RHODESY TECH !!!LIKES:Very light.Flexible legs, can grip things and bend to the right height.The price is good.Easy to carry around, I can put it in my rucksack, pocket , etcBad points:None?

Rhodesy Octopus Style Tripod StandThere are many, many tripods out there to choose from so to be worth while a particular feature is needed to make you want to buy one particular brand over another. I have a whole lot tripods and other camera mounting device in varying sizes and I will use each of them at some time to fulfil a particular need.The Rhodesy Octopus Tripod fits very neatly into a particular type or style of small tripods. That being the type that are compact and can have the legs bent and twisted to get the camera into position and often also wrap the legs around something stable to hold the camera steady whilst taking photos.The Rhodesy Octopus Style Tripod Stand ticks several boxes for me. It is compact and light, it will fit quite easily into a camera bag and won’t overburden you. It is very flexible and can be bent into all sorts of positions and remain steady. It is steady even with quite a heavy camera, I mounted my Sony DSLR with a fairly heavy lens and the Rhodesy Tripod showed no signs of sagging or tipping over. It can be used to hold other photo accessories like lights. The ball head is a bit larger than some similar offerings, this means it locks and holds firmer without having to strain the clamp.I also liked that the legs are covered with a rubber foam material, some similar tripods have hard plastic leg joints that don’t grip well. The Rhodesy Octopus Style Tripod Stand legs should be able to grip better and not slip around on things like tree branches.Finally, the price, at under £10 it has to be an absolute bargain.

The tripod is the best bit, it's pretty study, can adopt numerous positions flexibility but without risk of moving. The ball socket can be loosened to let you adjust the angle of the "head" and each leg can be moved at its joint at the top and also is bendable along the length of the leg, allowing all sorts of adjustment to account for different surfaces and even hanging off objects.Like many of these tripods the mobile phone mount is the point that lets it down a bit: who in their right mind would put anything but the cheapest of phones into a bracket with such an excessive vice like grip? It certainly should not be used directly on a phone. I only use it with a phone in an older case that I don't mind getting a little crush damage on the case (eg denting the case surface where they bracket squeezes it). Clearly they went overboard on the "don't let it drop the phone" requirement! If it were a mount bracket required to hold a phone on a bike or some other scenario undergoing rapid movement and force, it would be more appropriate but this is a static stand holding what are generally very light phones, so it's massively too tight. There's obviously someone in the Far East knocking out these brackets as I've had several just like this with other tripods and holders. They should offer the tripod with a bracket that reflects the hundreds of pounds people invest in phones.

I’ve had a few phone tripods over the years and so far I’ve been very pleased with this addition. I tend to mainly use it when I’m sat at the breakfast bar in the kitchen, watching a YouTube video over my cereal. The tripod is sturdy and comes with Go-Pro type mounts as well as a mobile phone grip should that be your requirement.I’ll admit I was surprised by how big this flexible phone tripod was when I took it out of the box, but those long legs give extra flex to securely wrap around posts/trees etc. It’s a bit more expensive than some tripods I’ve seen, but I’ve been impressed enough by it that it warranted the cost.

Brilliant tripod. I have bought this for my partner as he is really into photography. And this will be perfect for when he needs to take pictures with his phone. The three legs are pliable and bendy. So you can put this in many positions. Also the swivel part moves in all 360 degree angles. It is very lightweight. And easy to carry. Easy to attach and detach accessories. Brilliant buy.

I'm really happy with this little guy! I had one of the first gorillapods - I paid about £100 for it (!!) - and while it was nearly bomb-proof, it weighed AT LEAST five times as much as this little octopus. Price aside, I actually prefer the flex system on this tripod - my gorillapod had ball-and-cup type knuckles, which worked okay, but they did have a maximum bend radius that made it hard to grip thin objects, and if you pushed them too hard they would just pop off. This tripod is more like stiff wire, so you can bend it at really acute angles, and it's totally covered in grippy rubber so I've found it gives a really nice stable hold. The built-in ball head is a nice touch, too - at first glance I thought it was plastic, but it's actually solid metal so it should take some abuse. And did I mention it's LIGHT?? This is the first tripod I've owned that I would always throw in my bag without needing to worry about the extra payload. I'm impressed!

On 1st glace, I thought this tripod was well made. The legs are great and really sturdy and flexible however this is where it stops. There are no instructions so it should be simple enough but when I put my phone I couldn't get the phone fix in one position. It couldn't deal with the weight of a mobile phone & kept swiveling round,. Really disappointed & found that I couldn't use it at all.
