No it comes in a plastic cover, haven't used them yet but they feel ok

whats the length of the skewer from the handle to tip, if its 15" including wooden handle, handles will burn on my bbq

10" from skewer points to the small spreader bar (10" of usable skewer space)13" of metal skewer in total. 15" from tip to handle. (Handle approx 2" of 15" total length. They work well I'm very happy with them.
