Hi BelladonnaWolfsbane I bought this for my son.....who to be honest has a pixie like haircut short on the back and sides of the head and longer on the top. He used this on dry hair! So the answer to your question is yes use it on dry hair a little at a time rubbed between your fingers and style. Hope this helps:-)
