Can you wear them while breastfeeding to aid with latching on?

You can wear whilst feeding on the opposite side to which the infant is suckling and in between feeds, they help with providing a buffer between your nipples and fabric (such as your bra) (- especially useful if you are already sore) ; and also help to make your nipples protrude more if you have flat nipples which does aid in latching. But if you are looking for a teat to cover your nipples for baby to latch on to, that is a nipple shield. I was going to resort to nipple shields but decided to try these first and did not have to as these have been so effective for my needs.

Can this be used as a milk collector while breastfeeding on the opposite breast? Can they be sterilised?
