Very good styler
Function: does a really good job keeping shape all day, I've only ever used natural products before that I made myself which are decent but this with it's extra synthetic ingredients clearly has a huge advantage over natural homemade wax balms for keeping a moustache curled all day. Balls up easily and spreads easily so it's far quicker and less faff to groom through a moustache than natural ones. For styling and shaping , this is a beast! Id recommend using an oil or natural balm BEFOR you apply this as it is a synthetic barrier that is dead and not an active ingredient. The petrolebum and synthetics sit on your hairs and don't drink in, which is why it does a great job holding shape, because of that id recommend using a beard oil before to ensure your STACHE is hydrated and oiled under it so it won't dry out or become perturbed.Scent: that Australian sandalwood is so good. So nice. Not overkill amount either.Use: as stated, unlike all natural formulas, when you scrape some out and melt it before applying , it balls up into a play-do ball because of the synthetic ingredients rather than how a natural balm woul jus spread like a butter, this allows It to be super easy to INSTALL into your moustache and it's also very easy to groom through because of that.Verdict:I'm typically an all natural kind of consumer but this is the one product where I compromise and say, hey , this is allowed to be synthetic considering it's function (styling only).Cost: good.

How can you not go for a product called "The Gentleman's Stiffener"...
I'm rather new to the idea of styling one's facial fur, but after seeing several gents sporting well-curled and striking 'taches, I thought I'd give it a go. Capt. Fawcett's was literally the first moustache wax I spotted, so I thought it was as good a place as any to start - plus the name is just awesome. It takes a little practice to use, but using the tip of a penknife or even a pen cap will get out a little bit of wax out of the handy little pot (or as another reviewer suggests, the curved end of a moustache comb does the trick). Then it's just a matter of working it warm between the tips of the fingers, smoothing it through the moustache, and then working it into shape. I found that a quick blast with a hot hairdryer once the wax was combed into the hair got it exceptionally workable, and once cooled set the hair in place perfectly. I certainly need a lot more practice with it, but the results are so far impressing my novice eye. It also works well in a beard also, and has finally allowed me to sculpt my chin-scruff into something a lot more neat and defined. The wax itself isn't overly tacky once worked into the hair, and thus far hasn't proved flaky. While I don't know about the other fragrances in the Capt. Fawcett range (Lavender - which was the scent of choice of Hercule Poirot - and Ylang-Ylang), the Sandalwood aroma is subtle but noticeable, and very pleasant. Based on this I might be tempted to try the others out at some stage, but it looks like this little pot will go a very long way. Certainly an impressive product, one I'm hoping to get a lot more use out of - I say old boy!

Does the job
Looking at the 'tache at the start of the year, I thought "It needs a trim... Unless I try styling it. Why have I never thought of waxing it before?!" Ridiculous, really; I've had one since I could grow one, which is more years than I care to admit here. But I'd never thought of trying to wax it. You can get almost anything on Amazon these days, can't you? Yep!It very quickly becomes apparent that moustache products come in one flavour - faux Victorian. Even some of the reviewers have caught the bug. I settled on trying this one & the Bounder. The Clubman reviews seemed, on the whole, to be a shade more critical. Being a first-time waxer, I've left it a few weeks before commenting here. I'm still not entirely convinced about waxing, but that's not a reflection on the product. It's a very firm wax, but pleasantly and (importantly) gently scented. This is going to be under your nose all day, you really don't want something that smells like a tart's boudoir! Sorry, my one descent into faux-V, honest, guv...The firmness of the wax strikes me as an advantage as much as a fault. I gather that it's all too easy to end up with too much wax & unsightly results. It's a little like adding salt to food - you can add a little, add a little, until you get the right amount. If you put too much in, it's a lot more awkward getting it out again. So if it takes a little rubbing to build up a layer of wax on your finger, at least you're not slapping it on like greasepaint! One trick I've found quite useful is to work it in starting from the lip & working up, rather than from the nose, working down. You're not smearing wax on your skin instead of the hair, it makes it easier to work into the tips of the hair & the body of the moustache from below and, at the end or rather the beginning of the day, it's the bottom of the thing that you want to style away from your mouth, so you'd surely rather have more of the wax below than above. When all is said & done, it's scented wax. I find it hard to get terribly excited about scented wax. It's a perfectly good product that does the job you want perfectly well, in that it holds your moustache in place without reeking all day (I have a marginal preference for the simpler scent of this over the slightly less firm Bounder). That, to me, is 4, rather than 5 stars. Besides, a proper Englishman maintains a proper reserve at all times & doesn't get over-excited. Demmit! I just descended into faux-V again, didn't I...

Great stuff
Capt Fawcett's Moustache Wax - Expedition Strength. No matter what high adventure the gentleman is on, he can be rest assured that this moustache wax will not let him down. And if he does need to touch up his glorious manly whiskers, in order to impress the ladies, then he will be grateful for the tins small size that can easily be hidden on his person. This wax offers a very strong hold for your moustache and can last many hours provided you don't keep playing with it (the moustache that is!). This comes a cost in the sense of being very difficult to scop out of the tin. You have to dig with your thumbnail in order to scope the wax out, and it will be a bit crumbly at first until you warm it up between thumb and finger which can be difficult, and will result in bits in your moustache and or beard if not warmed up properly. However this can be made easier by melting it with the use of a hair dryer on highest heat setting for a minute or two. This makes applying it to the moustache supper easy although it quickly hardens up. Apllication can be difficult and can tug at the hair which for me caused a couple of whiskers to come out. But with time and practice, you will soon learn how to best use this wax. And as it's a hard wax, you will be able to style your moustache the way you want it and be reassured it will stay the way you like it. Highly recommended.

Too hard to use, real waste
Nice idea, but it is so stiff that it is unusable. (i only bought once so if I had a bad batch I don't know). Consistency was like candle wax or even stiffer. TRied gouging pieces out and rubbing between hands and with friction becomes slightly more pliable. On applying to moustache, it sets so quickly even in a normal warm room temperature that it litterally rips your hair out. I persevered and tried heating first by sitting on radiator, and in a bowl of hot water. Made no difference to application, still just too stiff to use without yanking all your hair out. The Beard and the Wonderful cedarwood wax was much more useable. If it works for you and you've tough follicles like hogs hair bristles, then great, if you've finer hair, stear well clear unless you want bald patches and to lose your growth that has taken months to acheive!

Not an amazing hold.
Good wax, not an amazing hold to be sincere, I've tried out many waxes over the years but this does not hold well and flops after a few minutes when applied. Not a particular nice scented smell more like an old rubber smell it would also be good to make some wax in a darker colour. Good advice to keep it in your pocket to soften the wax. The plus is that it's quite large tin of wax and I also like the front design logo a lot of colleagues laugh when you pull out the wax it means your serious about the upper lip. Overall it's an okay product try it out. Delivered on time and packaged well.

What Hi' Chaps!
Well then. This is the first stache wax I've purchased and without anything to compare it to I would say its pretty smashing! I've been experimenting with facial hair ever since I could grow it and been though mu fair share of beards chops etc but never really taken on the challenge of a classic moustache, I used to trim my lip hair when it dropped below the upper lip and started becoming part of my daily meals... HOWEVER! this is no longer a problem as I now have my upper lip appendage growing well on its way to the title of a mighty tash and with the help of Captain Fawcett I have managed to maintain my stache very well indeed.Pros and consInitially I thought this wax was leaving an almost dandruff like feauture however after working the wax into the stache it looks very natural.I've been testing it over the last few days starting out with very little then working a bit more into it. Each to their own some people need more wax some people need less. It's much like sorting out you'r hair with wax or gel, you eventually get the idea through trial and error. It is very stiff stuff! A constistant product not oily or goopey in any way, Its wax there is no doubt about it take small amounts instead of big dollops!I found having a sink of warm water helped by this I mean after getting the wax on you'r finger tips take a very light dab of water on the ends of them. Not sure how well it will hold the tips of the tash, I've yet to experiment with defining a point at each end but its pretty stiff stuff like I said so I'm sure it would work well. Not sure how long it lasts, It generally keeps the hair from dropping onto the upper lip, keeps its shape very well. but it does get dryer over the day. I let it dry naturally not blow dried. but the tips of the tash have not stayed as sharp as they have been at the start of the day.I hope this was all of use to someone. All in all I would say this is a good product, I read other reviews first and this seemed the way to go.Thanks for reading =]

Hält was es Verspricht.
