Lucas Oil 10008 Power Steering Stop Leak, 355 ml, Beige089

I’m giving this 5 stars because the stuff did save me having to rip out a steering rack and find where it was leaking from.My power steering went from lasting a day and a half before being empty to lasting a week. One more bottle of this stuff later and it has stopped leaking.They’re in mind some people that have reviewed this product probably have a leak that is bigger than a pin hole or could be something that’s detached in which case this won’t work.

My Honda Civic hatchback, 1996 with 160K miles on the clock has been 'groaning' progressively more loudly for the past three months or so, finally getting to an excessively loud point were it was obvious that something was seriously wrong. I took the car to Honda, who told me that it needed a new Power Steering Pump - cost £730 (incl. VAT) + about another 250 (incl VAT) for fitting. - Nearly £1,000 (which is more than the car is worth, lovely as she is to drive)!!!Having checked the problem out on the internet, I found this product and read the reviews on it - At £9.00 or so for a bottle, it HAD to be worth a try.Using a turkey baster I drained the power steering fluid reservoir to the bottom, then replaced it with the Lucas stuff, which was almost exactly the same amount. Turning the engine on, I turned the wheel full lock to the right, which resulted in a loud grating sound. Then I turned it to the left and it was much, much, less. Back to the right again, then left again - Nothing. Quiet as a mouse. The (one finger) turning is now as good as it was when I first bought the car.I have been out and about testing it on tight corners, reverse parking, etc. and I really cannot BELIEVE that this Lucas fluid has sorted the problem so easily - AND so cheaply!!!I would highly recommend it to anyone, anytime. Really....It works!!!

I bought this thick goo to shut-up the rumbling and humming that had recently started in a vintage power-steering system. It worked for a few months, until the severe wear in the system got to a point where it just had to be stripped down. The reservoir also used to leak a little from the seal on the filler cap, and this stuff discouraged that from happening. Basically this stuff did exactly what I bought it for. It's a pity it didn't work for longer, but the pump really was on its very last legs so it's not a fault of the additive really.

The power steering rack was replaced on my Ford Focus in March 2016 (MOT failure). Two years on and the replacement rack started to lose fluid resulting in an MOT failure this year (2018). As this Lucas product seemed to have good overall reviews, I thought I'd give it a go before paying out 350 Pounds + for another steering rack !Like other reviewers, I removed the power steering fluid from the reservoir using a cheap plastic turkey baster and refilled to the MAX cold mark with the Lucas Stop Leak product. After starting the engine it's advisable to gently turn the steering wheel by just a small amount, side-to-side, from the centre position to allow the thicker fluid, just added, to flow into the rack and mix with the existing power steering fluid, hence reducing the possibility of internal damage caused by the initial higher pressure.After adding around half of the bottle (including a couple of 'top-ups') over a period of two weeks, the fluid level in the power steering reservoir has remained at the MAX cold level mark when checked. The car passed the MOT retest on this particular issue, so I'd say this Lucas product has been a great success, in my particular case, but may not be able to 'fix' more pronounced leaks caused by excessively worn oil seals in the steering rack and/or steering pump.

Unfortunately, didnt work for me. Initially topped up the power steering system as directed and it seemed to stop the leak. Once I took the pick-up out on the road for a while the leak returned.I'm not saying it wouldnt work for you but I guess it depends on the type of seal thats leaking.To be fair I contacted the company and explained the situation. I provided them with the details of the work I had to carry out as a result of their product not working with a scanned copy of the invoice for the garage work and they returned my money to me with no hassle at all. Couldnt say fairer than that.My opinion - Worth trying if you are on a budget as it may resolve your problem. If it doesnt, the company will honour their money back guarantee so you have little to lose!

This stuff actually works! Someone fitted a new steering box on my Land Rover before I bought it snd cross threaded a nut.Heard mixed reviews about these sort of things before but thought I would give it a go.Actually worked no more leak 👌🏻

Ottimo. L'ho inserito nel circuito servosterzo di una honda civic del 1999 che perdeva qualche goccia e per la quale mi avevano detto che era troppo costosa la riparazione.Ho fatto un bel viaggio di 400 km e per adesso, non ha perso piu' niente. Devo dire che ero scettico. Staremo a vedere.

STOPPED THE LEAK --- before it became a serious problem destroying the rack and pinion. Expensive part should you have to replace it. Worth the trying!

nach dem nach und nach einfüllen von bisher ca. 3/4 liter ist die lenkung nach wie vor nicht dicht. der beschreibung nach soll man dann, wenns mit dem inhalt einer flasche nicht klappt, noch eine 2. einfüllen. geldschneiderei ?

When I used this product my car was leaking about 200 ml hydraulic fluid a month for a drive of about 800-1000 kms/month. The car has not leaked in last 3 months after I have used this product, and has run about 3500 kms in this time which include 2500 kms of high speed highway run. Also checked the hydraulic fluid level last week, it is constant. I am presuming that it will remain this way. It has worked for me, and saved a lot of money.
