Since the rare appearance of sun in the garden - 'a once lush green haven of peace and tranquility' it has been upturned into what I initially thought was a moles beach summer holiday. Surprised to find that red ants had set up battle posts in more waves than a alien invasion I ordered this super talc disguised as ant killer. After carefully 'digging over' their minor mountains and filling them with the white powder (which comes out at lighting speed) I patted them down as carefully as a ogre walking on daisies and retreated to the shower... No longer looking like I worked as a bakers apprentice, I carefully gazed over their territory to see if they were going home. Pleased to say I put the flag of success high up on the washing line 3 days later. Hurrrah! No more ants! Or so I thought :( Alas after applying patch repair to the damaged areas and carefully nursing the small grasslings to life, the ants have once again begun a retaliation. Even now I can hear their battle drums - I'd feel braver if I was going back out there with a flame thrower rather than talc. What can I say? Become a modern day warrior, throw aside your spears and take super talc with you to battle! Clearly the strategy of a superior mindset (or a lack of arsenal I'm honestly not sure which) Either way it kills ants just don't confuse it with baby powder.

Are useful items to have around the house in the hot weather we had ants but after one coating on the outside of the house we had them no more well worth the purchase

The powder kills any ant it touches, so if you wanna run around and kill ants for fun, then great! However, it does not remove the ant problem as the queen will never set foot outside and never get in contact with this powder. So you'll still have ants. I should give this item five stars for the murder capability but anyone buying this will probably be buying this to get rid of an infestation, and you'll waste your money if you get this. Get boric acid instead!

Early every summer the ants start arriving. For the most part I leave the ants to get on with their lives and do whatever they want to do wherever they want to do it but I do insist on several absolute 'no-go' areas: the house, the front garden path and my (miniscule) patio - within those bounds a zero-tolerance scorched earth policy rules. This simple white powder is an effective control measure - just sprinkle some near to the ant nest or across their path and within a few days they will be gone. This product is a simple white powder, a little like talcum powder in its texture. That's good when applying it as it's very easy to sprinkle and to see where you've put it and how much you've applied. The downside is that being a simple white powder it’s very visible in the average garden setting and will continue to be visible as a relatively unsightly white splotch for several days after you apply it and it’s done its job (weeks if there is no rain). So be careful where and how much you apply in areas that are going to be in your everyday line of sight as you could be looking be looking at that patch of white powder for quite a while. I’ve also tried the Chatsworth brand powder (ASIN: B004NTENZW) which seems to be equally effective. Inside the house and in places where I don’t want a dusty white powder looking unsightly I use liquid deterrents such as Vitax Nippon Ant Killer (ASIN: B000TAUBSC) which is very effective.

It works. Any ants that make contact with this stuff, die. It takes about 20 mins but they are dead ants walking. I don't think this will do much to kill ants in the nest, if they carry some back with them...but it does encouage them to move on.
