One of the most loved and hated pedals ever
One of Boss's greatest pedals ever. If you are sensible with the gain level and don't go for extreme EQ settings you can get some half decent tones out of this.My tip is to use an EQ pedal AFTER the MT-2. I use the Boss GE-7 and with the powerful EQ on the Metal Zone, combined with the GE-7, I can get pretty much any tone I want.

Basically Line 6's 'Insane' setting in a pedal
I bought this pedal a little while ago to plug in to my Line 6 Spider III to see if I could get a different tone - I had returned it within a week. Maybe it was the amp I was using, or maybe the Line 6's effects are pretty good to start with but I didn't feel this pedal offered me 80 quid's worth of extra 'goodness' on top of what was built into the amp to start with. The pedal is extremely good and it's only because I already had access to a very similar tone in the Spider III's red insane setting that I returned the pedal. I would say if you practice with a Line 6 but gig with a different brand of amp this little black box will ensure you don't miss your Spider on stage. As far as the tones you can get go the other reviewer gets it pretty spot on - tones of modern metal such as Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, In Flames etc. can be achieved and there's even a helpful little diagram map in the back of the instructions to show you how to achieve certain signature sounds. Finally, to conclude, I would say this pedal is good if you don't already have access to decent distortion, otherwise it's unnecessary expenditure. Sorry for the rambling review but hopefully my point comes across.

Boss quality shines through.
Great Boss quality, Rugged and strong. Sounds from 80's hair rock to death thrash metal. Didnt like even though I'm a prime customer the item took two full days just to be dispatched, and six full days to get it.

boss mt2 pedal using it with a roland tr8
the boss mt2 metal brilliant I use it with a roland tr8 drum machine and the sound is mental just don't overdrive the audio going into the input, or it wont sound right. Only one niggle the buttons are tiny my husband has big hands but once you've set the controls just leave it as it is

Very hard to dial in
Hated this pedal at first but I've managed to find uses for it. Makes a rlly nasty bass distortion but you do end up losing alot of clarity. Sounds great on a keyboard too. Can sound good on guitar but the EQ is very hard to dial in and a little more complex than it needs to be. Amazing build quality though of course. Wouldn't really recommend it unless you know what you're doing. Better off buying a BOSS DS-1
