Kloster Eberbach - Gift Set - 3 Premium Riesling (Classic, Dry) from Rheingau, Germany (3 x 0.75 l)

These are a far cry from the German wines I first tried as a teenager. Blue Nun et al. Although they played their parts in a lifetime (to date!) romance with wine. It took a few trips to Rhineland and beyond in later life - initially as a journo and then later at my own pace (there are only so many bentwood chair museums you can take under guided tour when there are lovely restaurants and vineyards nearby!) to show me what I'd been missing. These days the German discount supermarkets now run to some excellent wines but it's nice to be treated. I had this selection down on my birthday wish list but while one brother bought me a great selection of Aussie reds, the other said these were out of stock. I suspect he's either a skinflint or hadn't changed the delivery options on his Amazon account - as he lives in France (where there's no shortage of great wine). There were 12 in stock when I checked so I ordered one for myself. It arrived the very next day. Also it's worth noting it was superbly packaged. Nice big box delivered by Royal Mail, within a heavy duty and stylish presentation box, clearly labelled with the company's logo, and with a flourish, and worlds apart from the flimsy cardboard referenced by some reviewers. On the basis of their reviews I'd half expected broken bottles. If you're planning on giving all three or just enjoying them yourself - go for it. Prost!

The media could not be loaded. The only one I wasn't too keen on is the Riesling trocken rheingau for some reason I just didn't like the taste very much, but that's just me the rest were great, it would make a good gift for a white wine lover, I personally prefer red if given the choice though. I also think the white wine goes best either chilled from the fridge or with some ice. Between 49-55oF for white wine is best consumed, or give or take 7-12oC so pretty much fridge level.Does contain some sulfites though as most wines do. How much sulfites your guess is as good as mine. I wish it would say on all bottles how much they have as its not a healthy substance to consume, so drink responsibly!

If you are stuck for a present for someone who likes white wine, this is a good bet. It is supplied in a very stylish, very strong black cardboard box (see pictures in the description.I have to confess that I always drink red for choice, except for the restaurant in Frascati – explaining to my daughter “they’re offering six different whites and one very generic red”. My wife drinks very little alcohol these days, but if it’s wine it’s only white, but; she doesn’t like anything too dry, and I don’t like anything too sweet.There is very little information given about the wines, so all you have to go on is the fact that two have “trocken” in the name and one doesn’t – so one unknown and two, in theory, dry. The tasting went as follows:-Riesling Trocken: fruity, but as you would expect dry-Riesling Classic: semi-sweet, with more body-HochHeimer Riesling Trocken: My wife said this was her favourite, as it was the fruitiest and the one with the most body. Although this is classified as dry, she felt that the fruitiness made it taste more like semi-sweetAll three had a very clean, crisp flavour.This is more than I would usually pay for wine; as a cheapskate, I usually go for something with an alleged RRP of £8/£9, with up to £2 taken off this, and then supermarket 265% off for six bottles. However, as this pack will probably be a present, and has the appropriate gift packaging, reasonable value.

We drink a lot of wine in this household: mainly red (a good Pinot being our favourite) and white less so (because as a general rule I find white wines and, for that matter rosés, too sharp or acidic). Well maybe I’ve just been drinking the wrong stuff because these wines were a revaluation to me (and have forced me to reasses my previous stance on my red vs. white preference). Obviously they are very different, but this selection of Rieslings are very smooth and drinkable (and each bottle has a noticeably distinct character too). There is none of the acidity or anything redolent of weak vinegar here: just a really clean refreshing nose, medium-bodied and smooth finish. Price-wise it is difficult to gage: whereas they are perhaps dearer than your ‘average’ bottle of plonk, they do (in this case) taste noticeably superior than any white wines I’ve occasionally tried in the past so, on that basis alone, I would say the extra is worth paying (I’d rather enjoy one bottle of wine, than three I thought was just ok, or worse). Plus this trio of bottles comes in attractive packaging which complements the wine perfectly and provides a sense if occasion (and no doubt would make an ideal gift).In short: exceptional quality wine (that has managed to convert a strictly red drinker!).Recommended!

Mein Mann und ich sind häufig im Rheingau unterwegs und schätzen die Weine aus dieser Region sehr.In diesem Geschenkset vom Kloster Eberbach erhält man 3 Premium Weine aus eben dieser Region zu jeweils 0,75 l. Die eher schlicht aber edel und ansprechend gestalteten Flaschen werden in einer großen Geschenkbox geliefert. Dabei enthält das Set den 2021 Riesling Classic, den trockenen Riesling "Hochheimer", ebenfalls 2021, und den Riesling trocken unter dem Label "Staatsweinkellerei Eberbach" von 2021.Alle drei haben uns wirklich sehr gut geschmeckt, der Letztere allerdings ist unser Favorit und sticht sogar neben den beiden sehr guten Weinen nochmal positiv hervor. Sehr aromatisch mit einem hervorragend fruchtigen Nachgeschmack. Ganz toll!Gemeinsam ist den drei Sorten ein sehr frischer, spritziger Geschmack. Besonders im Sommer und zu leichten Mahlzeiten wie Antipasti, Hähnchen oder Lachs kann ich mir alle drei sehr gut als Begleitung vorstellen.Insbesondere die Sorte "Riesling Classic" verkörpert für mich den idealen, erfrischenden Sommerwein.★ Dieses Geschenkset mit 3 x Premium Riesling ist mit Sicherheit ein Volltreffer für jeden Freund von gutem Wein. Die Aufmachung ist sehr nett und daher gut als Geschenk geeignet. Voll und ganz hat mich die Auswahl der drei Sorten - die jede für sich außerordentlich gut schmeckt - überzeugt.Absolute Empfehlung! ★

Riesling und Rheingau bürgt eigentlich schon für Qualität.Der Rheingau ist für seinen Riesling bekannt, obwohl es dort auch sehr gute andere Rebsorten / Weine gibt.Um es kurz zu machen: ihr könnt hier nichts falsch machen.Kloster Eberbach ist das älteste Weingut in Deutschland und bekannt für u.a. die jährlich stattfindende Auktion von Raritäten.Ihr bekommt hier alles, was einen Riesling ausmacht: Frische, Zitrus-Aromen, Apfel / Pfirsich / CitrusSuper für jede Art von Meeresfrüchten, Fisch, Krustentiere, Spundekäs, usw.Nicht nur zum essen, sondern gut gekühlt auch bei jedem Sommer-Event ein Treffer.Riesling kommt mit relativ viel Säure, gerade in diesem jungen Alter. Wer auf liebliche Weine steht, wird hier eher nicht glücklich.Das ganze in sehr guter Verpackung (im Versand) und mit einer schönen, schwarzen Pappschatulle. Sieht sehr wertig aus und für 35 Euro ist das ein Schnapper - mit ruhigem Gewissen zu kaufen, da man Qualität bekommt. Schöne Auswahl, klasse Weine.Ich habe 1 1/2 Jahre im Rheingau gearbeitet (Koch) und ich kann euch nur empfehlen dem Rheingau mal einen Besuch abzustatten, Strausswirtschaften und das Kloster Eberbach zu besuchen. Es lohnt sich!

Wer einen guten Riesling mag würde sich über diese Geschenkverpackung sehr freuen.Zum einen ist die Verpackung optisch schon ansprechend und auch sehr praktisch gestaltet. Kann man so nehmen, Schleife drum und fertig ist das Geschenk.Es gibt hier drei verschiedene Riesling Weine und alle Flaschen haben einen Schraubverschluss. Praktisch, man benötigt keinen Korkenzieher und es ist kein Zeichen dafür, das der Inhalt nicht schmeckt.Man muss aber schon ein Liebhaber eher trockener Weine sein, obwohl ich sagen muss, dass hier auch oft eine recht fruchtige Note sich untermischt. Was aber dann doch eher den Reiz dieser Weine ausmacht. Ich würde eher in die Richtung halbtrocken tendieren, sie sind noch recht spritzig und haben eine sehr dezente Säure. Schon recht gefällige Weine, die man zu verschiedenen Anlässen genießen kann. Empfehlen würde ich leichtes mediterranes Essen, Salate, Hühnchenfleisch, Pasta. Fisch geht auch oder eine leckere Käseplatte. Oder aber, wenn es wieder wärmer wird, als Solowein auf der Terrasse zum Abend hin.Eine gute Auswahl an sehr guten Weißweinen. Da ich eher der Rotweintrinker bin, haben es Weiße bei mir etwas schwerer, aber diese hier wissen sehr wohl zu überzeugen.
