Good looking and even better sounding, simply perfect for the price
Fast delivery (even faster than expected) and product as described, great job SuperFi. On the speakers, what can I say... Simply WOW, you are getting great bang for your bucks. The sound is crisp clear and those can go pretty loud for their size. I use them in small bedroom and constantly keep the volume pretty low, but I tried pumping up the volume few times and the Roth's kept their game just fine. Something to note though is those are a bit shy on the bass side. It's not problem with the speakers, but more with physics, you simply can expect deep house shacking bass from such small cabinets. This can easily be fixes by adding a sub, but even without one you still will be getting more than enough of those four to the floor beats. Hight's and mids are crystal clear, you will be hearing a lot of new details on your favourite tracks. Even listening to low quality MP3's or low quality free streaming services (yup Spotify, it's only 168 kbps unless you go premium) you are still getting high quality output. And before I close this already too long review a few words on the looks... Damn those things look pretty, pure white cabinet with black cones and twitters, soft round edges. As soon you put those out of the box you will want to put them somewhere where everyone will be able to see what expensive piece of hi-fi equipment you got. No worries I won't tell anyone those are actually less then 80 bucks ;)

An excellent blend of form and function
Already a fan of Roth speakers, having for some time owned a pair of OLi RA3 floorstanders and an OLi C30 centre, I was looking to upgrade the two rear channels from a pair of speakers that remained from another system of a different brand. The OLi RA1's pack a pretty good punch and they've added significantly to my enjoyment both of TV and audio. They're somewhat bigger than the pair they replaced, although as bookshelf speakers in their own right, they're quite compact and, while I've not auditioned them as such, I'm guessing they would serve as a very acceptable stereo pair for a budget system. In my case, as surround speakers, I've fitted them to the walls using the fixing brackets that came with them. The subwoofer is now the only element left for me to upgrade, but I find I'm questioning the need; I seem to be getting very adequate low frequency response from the system, making a subwoofer seem rather like a superfluous luxury. I've found the value for money offered by Roth speakers to be nothing short of outstanding, Great ambassadors for British design and manufacturing, they're really solidly made and beautifully finished. I love the softly curved casing. I make no claim to be an audiophile, but I do like what I hear from these excellent speakers.

... bracket the Roth OL1 RA1 audio speakers are THE BEST product I have ever purchased for quality of sound
In this price bracket the Roth OL1 RA1 audio speakers are THE BEST product I have ever purchased for quality of sound, build and overall good looks. I am extremely pleased with their performance which provides a tight deep bass, sharp treble and more than acceptable mid-range reproduction. I might just place them on my wish list for an extra pair in the very short term, to add to my system. A 10 out of 10 rating I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the Roth OL1 1RA audio speakers which, in my view, represent excellent value in the price bracket of ยฃ100. They reproduce a tightly controlled bass, a sharp and defined treble, and the mid-range performance is more than acceptable. I might just be looking to buy a further pair of these in the short term to add to my existing system and would not hesitate in awarding a 10/10 score to reflect their build, design and performance. Thanks so much Roth, and Amazon also for improving the overall sound of my rather ageing components.

Fantastic Little Beauties
After many months of searching for the right solution to my problem, I decided on these small speakers and, so far, they have not let me down. So what was the problem, you ask...? I was coming from big, expensive, room-shaking Bowers & Wilkins speakers (combined with amplifier and all the usual hi-fi shebang) and needed something small and subtle that could give me hi-fi sound without consuming valuable space. I had looked at powered desktop speakers and after trying a few they were never the right size or price-point for me - too small, too big, too loud. These RA's sit atop my desk, giving clear, punchy sound from YouTube and also play music with a great rounded sound. Whether sitting back to enjoy a movie or sitting close and listening in near field while I work, they sound terrific. Hooked up to a Topping VX1 headphones amp and using the USB from my Mac and the onboard DAC, my music (MP3, AAC or Lossless) sounds clear, full and - most importably - can provide a rich sound at any volume. I'm amazed at how easy and subtle they sound - as if my Bowers & Wilkins were the steam engine and these are the Mr Fusion. Highly recommended speakers. Great solid build and awesome sleek looks. The magnetic dust grills, stand adapters and pack of padded feet sweeten the package with a choice of shelf, desk or stand-mounting.

A great buy for the money
I purchased these speakers after looking for a set of good white speakers to sit on the window ledges of my garden room, I was looking for decent quality at a modest price. When the Roth's arrived I was delighted with the look of the speakers - ooze quality - and look good with or without the front cover which connects magnetically. The packaging was excellent so that the speakers were fully protected in transit. The package also contained some simple and discrete wall brackets, which I currently have not used but I appreciate their inclusion, and a pack of felt feet to be used if the speakers are to sit on shelves. When I connected the speakers I was delighted with the sound - I must say that I am not a hi-fi expert but they seemed to me to produce well balanced, clear sound which has increased my appreciation of my store of music. I have no problems recommending these speakers.

Incredible at this price
I may be a bit out of touch and as someone in his mid 50s in possession of less discerning ears than once upon a time, but these are an absolute dream. I'm currently using them as part of a hi-fi system based around a PC and a mini streaming amplifier and they more than do the job. Build quality is superb - solid and heavy. They look lovely and sound better than they look. Bass is fine - not overwhelming. Mids and highs well balanced without screechy top notes. I suspect for a serious audiophile that there are limitations, but I would imagine anyone looking to use in a similar set up or as part of a traditional CD/Turntable/AMP/Speakers combo isn't going to be able to complain. If like me you picked up a pair for less than 50 quid, you should be laughing!

Looking for a very good quality bookshelf speaker with a small footprint?
So was I, and this fitted the bill in many ways for me. I wasn't too sure at first about the Roth brand, but did a bit a research and realised this was a very well respected British company making quality components at the 'lower end' of the serious audio market. Lower end does not mean lower quality - this is a very well made, sturdy and modern-looking unit - the white finish is very classy and looks even better with the grill removed. The shallow depth does mean the bass 'thwump' that you get with more expensive units is lacking, but they are rear-ported and positioned correctly the bass presence on the RA1 is very tight and well defined. Pair them with a small mini HiFi like the TEAC CR-HR101, and you have a very responsive and enthusiastic mini-system for an office or bedroom, without the worry that your neighbours are going to be crossing you off the Christmas card list next year!
