A modern day card for a 10 year old Sony Vaio VGC-RC204 desktop.
Firstly, let me start by saying that by 2016 technology standards this graphics card will not amongst the best for gaming nor will it do everything a £200 graphics card will. I did a lot of research before buying this card which was to replace a GeForce GT7600 in an aging Sony Vaio Desktop Model VGC-RC204. I had an intermittent fault which would sometimes result in the PC not booting but, since upgrading to Windows 10 it hasn’t failed to boot but, has instead had to restart after experiencing an issue. The PC is running windows 10 (it’s been upgraded along the way from XP Pro) with a Pentium D chip 3.2GHz running at 3200MHz, I had specific requirements which were 1. It needed to be low profile and quite thin as there wasn’t much room where the existing card is. 2. It had to be PCI-E 2.0 or PCI Express or PCI-E x16 – they are all the same thing! 3. It had to be an improvement on the GT7600 as I wasn’t going to fork out £34.98 for something that was worse than I already had. 4. It needed to be a reasonable price as the desktop is nearly 10 years old and I didn’t want to throw lots of money at it. 5. It needed to be quite low power consumption ideally less than 35W as the PSU is 300W and the old GT7600 was rated at 35W so I didn’t want to fry my motherboard. 6. I wanted new rather than take this risk of a second hand card that had a better specification. So I worked backwards from the GeForce website making comparisons on the basic cards for all the above points. I then went to a benchmark site to compare the old and new and what sort of improvement I might see. The GT 7600 had a benchmark score of 165 and the GT 710 scored 647 a vast improvement although the GTX 970 is 8660! Don’t get me wrong this is no GTX970 as it’s a fraction of the price. I benchmarked the desktop before and after the install with the previous card scoring 53 on and the new one scoring 77 from NovaBench telling me that 3D frames per second had increased from 176 to 246. As I don’t use the card for gaming I haven’t noticed any real difference except I now have a more stable PC which doesn’t crash as frequently as it used to. Other reviewers asked why you would buy this card. Well the simple answer is that you might be replacing a graphics card in a 10 year old PC and are restricted by size, power consumption, PCI-E 2.0 or price and therefore your options are much more limited. The card was easy to install for me with limited PC expertise. It comes with Low Profile brackets a quick set up guide and drivers disc. I installed the drivers direct from NVidia before install ensuring I had the right version for Windows 10 32 Bit. The only issue I experienced was that Windows was installing the drivers automatically via the wizard so this had to finish before the NVidia driver software would upload. Although this has HDMI and DVI-D outs I had to use the VGA as the desktop is hooked up to an equally old Sony Bravia 26” TV and the HDMI connection resulted in a worse picture than the VGA. Sadly the TV is only designed to connect to a PC via VGA according to the manual. All in all this had enabled my beloved desktop to carry on its day to day tasks at a reasonable cost so I’m more than happy. I will post an update if I experience any reliability issues.

Economic Upgrade for a basic PC that came with built in CPU Graphics
I have a PC in my workshop/shed that is only used for basic tasks, but had built in graphics. Whilst I had upgraded the memory and also the drive to SSD, the built in to CPU graphics were lacking, and only had one digital Output. I wanted a dedicated card, but not spend too much, as this is only a basic PC, but this card provided an economic upgrade, and has two digital outputs and one analogue. After installing the correct NVidia driver (manual install) this card works fine with two monitors, and performance has visibly improved.

Budget low end gaming card
It is a reasonable priced card for low end gaming use it was easy to install and windows 10 pro detected and installed the correct drivers for it no need to use the included cd i have only tested it on a couple of games so far so good definatly an upgrade to the intigrated graphics on my hp pro desk i-7 the main game i thought i would have problems with was modded minecraft but it didnt let me down i had 60fps to 70fps while playing where as my intigrated graphics would max out at 28fps its quiet as there are no fans and its temps remained at an acceptable level of 70c i did not try the overclocking feature as im told it can damage the card overall great product.

All I needed and much more
Primarily bought for a HDMI output as the RGB I had been using was so blurry that doing any kind of work on my computer was impossible. Like many people in the reviews here I purchased it to use with a refurbished Dell office PC I bought on here a while ago and as far as I can tell it's the only option for a low profile, low wattage graphics card south of £100 and despite having never done so before i had it installed in minutes. There's a number of videos on YouTube imploring people not to buy this card if they're wanting to 'game' on their computers but apparently what they mean is that you won't be playing the latest first person shooters in 4k 60fps with this thing but that was never what I was looking to do anyway. Steam games like Euro Truck Simulator 2 (yes I am that boring) run smoothly at almost highest settings and for emulators (my primary interest) it's been a revelation. I'd hoped to get my old Saturn and GameCube games running reasonably well with this thing but have found that it's more than capable of upscaling the latter quite comfortablly up to 1080p. Out of curiosity i tried to run a few Wii games on it as well and was delighted by their performance also. Getting greedy and having too much time on my hands I tried to run a Wii U emulator and have found that it can even run a number of games on that platform quite smoothly and I suspect that the times it does stutter are more to do with my processor than this card. I'm currently experimenting with overclocking and it looks like you can get quite a bit of extra oomph out of this card without it becoming concerningly warm. I wish other reviewers took into consideration that not everyone has the budget to buy higher end cards as some of the negative takes I read almost put me off getting it but considering the breadth of things I can do with this up against its very accessible pricing I would buy this again in a heartbeat and recommend it to almost anyone.

Great for the price
Great for the price.... I'm not a gamer ( maybe this isnt great for gaming) my PC is for business use. I put this card in to make use of the 3 ports available (DVI, HDMI and VGA) and it works a treat, just pop it into a PCIe port, no power lead needed, no drivers needed to be manually installed ( not on windows 10) it just worked on boot up

Triple-head Bargain
Cheap triple-head card. I'm not interested in the GPU (for gaming) so no idea of its performance, but am comfortably running two 2048x1152 and a 1920x1080 landscaped/portraited monitors for coding/desktop apps. Fanless so quiet too. (Also use one of those USB3 to HDMI dongles to add a fourth monitor at 1920x1080 and, despite my reservations, this also works beautifully so quad-monitor rig for under fifty quid!!! :-) )

Dual Screen
The card is working fine with my main use for this card was my computer only had VGA output but now have HDMI on one screen and DVI working on the other so a perfect upgrade for my old W7 now W10 computer. Installing is very simple and setting up was all done by W10 and worked first time start up. I have had problems with the drivers with my computer updating a couple of weeks ago to the latest W10 1909 version that stopped the computer from updating and being stuck in the boot up screen that required re-installing Windows to get going again. I think, but can’t be 1005 sure, this problem might be down to the latest Nvidia driver for this card as I have not updated them after re-installing Windows and all is well and hope the next W10 Spring update does not crash my computer again. Overall though very happy with the card for how much it cost me but don’t use it for games.

Great for hackintosh/VFIO
Absurdly slow by today's standards (about the same as onboard GFX so no good for gaming) but its supported out of the box by macOS up to and including Catalina, so for hackintosh or qemu+VFIO it's ideal - no drivers to install. Also obviously works out of the box on Linux using nouveau and eventually got it working on Windoze with Nvidia drivers. Smaller and cooler than my passive GT610 which has a massive heatsink in comparison! Would get 5 stars if it had DisplayPort - VGA/DVI is a bit oldskool really, but at least it has HDMI for audio and video. Update: downgrading this as had two from Amazon Warehouse and the first had non-functioning HDMI audio and the second had some of the box contents missing and almost no packaging - was obviously a return not a refurb, one came from Germany and one from Scotland or something.

Good Value Card
Good value card, don't expect miracles from a GT710. Use it on my little home server, it's passive so no noise -- awGuru.com --
