A Good Entry Level Wireless Mouse For A Good Price
This is my first wireless mouse, so after approximately a month of use, I'm still getting used to a few features, one of which is turning the battery switch off if I'm not using the mouse for an extended period of time. Initial hookup was just like I want all my tech devices. Turn it on, plug it in, use it, and forget all the details. It's a simple device that uses AA batteries (fortunately the manufacturer was smart enough to include a Duracell and not a cheap battery) which easily slides into the bottom compartment. The USB connector does stick out about 1 1/2", so if that could be an issue for your computer, take that into account. I chose the black/silver since it wouldn't show fingerprints or dirt buildup that can occur on a mouse over time. Occasionally I'll use a soft cloth with a cleaner on my other keyboards and mice to keep them sanitary. For this mouse with the rubber sides, you probably won't want to use any cleaner on that portion of the mice since it could result in staining. Speaking of the rubber sides, they feel great and add an extra sense of a "secure grip" when moving the mouse. Another pleasant surprise is the mouse moves the cursor across my screen very quickly with very little hand motion. That feature alone is worth the price. I much prefer this mouse over the touchpad on my Toshiba Satellite A665...so if you're frustrated with your laptop's touchpad, you'll love this mouse. I've not hauled this mouse around much, so I can't speak for its durability in being carried around in a backpack or messenger bag, but if you're careful, this should give you several years of good use. The price on Amazon is excellent for this item as well. I could have bought the same item for several dollars more at a local "big box" office supply, but it's worth waiting a few days, paying $10.00 less, and getting free shipping on top of that. Whether you're using a laptop or desktop, for the price, this is a very good buy that I can highly recommend.Review Update: April 11, 2011. I'm pleased to report that the Duracell AA battery for my mouse has lasted several months and only now needs replacement. There's a small light on the top of the mouse that will be green when the mouse has plenty of battery power and is operating correctly. When it glows red, it's time to change the battery. I double checked the battery with a battery tester (just to make sure that the battery was indeed low & I wouldn't be wasting my money on new batteries) and it's indeed very low. I'm waiting a few days to see how long the low battery will last before replacement. Inexpensive batteries will probably not last as long, especially since I use my mouse up to 14 hours a day several days a week...so sticking with a Duracell would be wise. Otherwise, still very pleased with the mouse & highly recommend it for any laptop, netbook, or desktop.Review Update: December 21, 2011. This mouse still works like a charm. After well over a year of use, I'm just now on my third battery. Impressive, especially when I consider that this mouse is often in use for up to 15 hours a day. Duracell AA batteries are the way to go. I've gotten so attached to using this mouse that I almost hate using the fingerpad. A great buy...and probably the best mouse I've ever used.Review Update: March 10, 2017. After over five years of use, this mouse is still going strong. I don't use it as often as I used to, but am impressed with it's durability and battery life. If you're looking for a good mouse that runs on AA batteries, this is a great choice.

Best Wireless Mouse I've ever owned
I've had this mouse almost one year now and I love it.I read the negative reviews for this mouse and I think it might be due to the USB stick being too big and possibly fragile. I use this mouse when I'm at home or on a desk, so this is never a problem. I've been really careful not to bend the usb stick when it's plugged in (when I'm using my laptop on my lap for instance). And, yes, the USB stick is WAY too big, but the mouse works so great (see below) that I don't even care. 10 years ago most of us were still using trackball mice. haha.PROS:Performance:This mouse will work ANYWHERE! On my leg, on the couch, on the carpet, on my wooden desk, kitchen counter, any fabric, the bed, on almost any surface except my lab bench at university (probably not a surface most users will encounter).I've used this mouse for gaming and it's been wonderful.Aesthetics:It's really compact and has a good feel, the scroll wheel works great. Because it's small, it's easy to transport and the USB stick can slide and lock into the base (turns the mouse off automatically).Battery life:I think it has a smart shut off feature, because a lot of times after I shutdown my laptop I forget to turn the mouse off and leave it on overnight or over the weekend, etc. So far that has not caused the battery to die on me, the battery lasts a LONG time-even when I'm gaming. Of course as I mentioned above sliding the USB stick into the mouse causes it to turn off as well which is nice when I'm packing up my stuff.Cons:The only cons I've heard (aside from what the users have complained about on amazon reviews-large USB stick and it gets broken easily) is that the mouse is small. For large hands, maybe they want something bigger, especially for gaming.Bottom Line:The size fits me well, and this mouse works amazingly well ANYWHERE. The battery life is good. The price is great too.I already own one and I'm buying another because I think it works so well.

After 9+ months of abuse, still good as new!
I needed a new cordless optical mouse at the end of 2009. I wanted something small, so a netbook or laptop mouse was just the thing. I had qualms about buying it without getting to hold it in my hand, but once I got the mouse, they were quickly eased. There's a flashdrive-like controller for the mouse that plugs into a USB port and the mouse itself has survived being dropped on a wooden floor I don't know how many times; I've lost count. The battery cover comes off, but seldom does the battery itself do the same. On two particularly bad drops, the scroll wheel became non-functional. It turned out it had just been knocked partly to one side and popped easily back into place and continues to work as new. There is an on/off button on the bottom of the mouse, which can help stretch out the life of the single AA battery it uses, and if you're going to be away from the computer for an undetermined amount of time, it just takes a moment to turn the mouse off so what you're working on isn't disturbed. There is also a small button on the bottom that you can press to open the mouse to change the battery. The scroll wheel feels like you're rolling over bumps, but I like the textural sensation compared to that of smooth feeling wheels. It's obviously a matter of personal choice as to what you prefer. When I use my laptop in the living room, I don't even use a mousepad as it works fine on the arm of my recliner. The only things I don't like about it are that it can accumulate dirt in the on/off switch slot, but a safety pin or small screwdriver removes any 'gunk' easily. The sides are textured to be slightly tacky for a secure grip, which means they need an occasional cleaning. These are extremely minor issues for me. I would recommend this and buy this model again if I needed another mouse.Update: It's March of 2013 and it's still working great. In fact, I got another one for a family member when they needed a new mouse and they're also very pleased with it.
