Mirror [Blu-ray]

Ordered the Mirror, expected to be the same packaging as my other Tarkovsky UK blu-rays, but It Did not. Mirror came without the fullslip/slipcover, I complained to Amazon and asked, "if possible" that They sent to me the fullslip/slipcover alone in my next inmediate order; Amazon UK re-sent a replacement to me which was exactly the same product with the same package issue. Would have been enough saying that "Mirror with fullslip no longer exists in stock". Ths matter represents a waste of time and resources for both parts, Amazon and me.For collectors, this package issue of course It's not an Amazon fault. We sould blame the editor, Curzon-Artificial eye, for simplifying the package in re-issue re-prints of Mirror and the rest of Tarkovsky titles.As for the edition, It has a good transfer in 1080P (not as great as Solaris or Sacrifice) and interesting extras regarding a psychoanalysis approach. Well worth the order along with the rest of Curzon-Artificial Eye Tarkovsky editions (except for "Stalker" the only one with a very poor transfer).

Brilliant, enigmatic, extraordinary visual images. Best to watch it without analysis, allowing the oneiric cinematography, music, personae to seep into your consciousness.

Tarkovsky' most personal, mesmeric Mirror gets an excellent HD transfer here, with good features. Seeing stills side by side against the previous Japanese Blu ray is not definitive. They both look equally good, the AE a bit brighter. But it wins out on the special features front so is my choice.

I only hear abut Tarkovsky in recent years. So sophisticated it's hard to believe when and where he made his movies...

Tarkovsky's Mirror isn't one of his stronger films by far but nobody else could film a burning barn or drab soviet paper mill so beautifully.

For me, this is one of the greatest films ever made, and if you're thinking of buying it, you must do so!

Excellent film with nice subtitles. A classic.
