ASUS GeForce GT 1030 2GB GDDR5 low profile graphics card for silent HTPC build (with I/O port brackets)

This is the card to get if you need a fanless card for normal desktop work on 4k type screens with decent UEFI support. A lot of fanless cards can't even display 4k let alone manage decent performance like this card. It only over heats and throttles if you try and use it for computation flat out for too long and don't directly cool it. I tried it's video encoding and it spent most of it's time throttled down. The card is also small enough to not need a slot support and will easily fit in a compact case (e.g. a 2U rackmount). I didn't actually buy it for a silent build but in order to have a less cramped build when using multiple graphics cards while passing through a high powered graphics card to a windows VM. This high powered card has a similar db to a jet engine under load when it gets too hot and wasn't going well cramped in with a super high speed NIC, high core CPU and silly fast NVME drive. This card solved the problem and has hugely reduced temperatures without me adding any fans. So .. buy this if you need high res. and minimal 3D. It's great for any 3D desktop effects your into, and You can certainly play older games and some simpler modern games with this card, but you may need a fan / open case with low ambient temp. to prevent throttling. If you have such a retro CPU you need it for video decoding you probably can run a decent looking dekstop at a decent resolution anyway and would be better paired with a cheaper card. It pays to use the propietary drivers under linux if you want a slick high res fancy desktop like kde and gnome with loads of effects .. but as they aren't open source they aren't well integrated and can cause no end of problems .. e.g. required more work than I could be bothered with to integrate with my monitoring software (libre) .. the only hardware I have in a large stack like that, doesn't like wayland at all, required hacks to allow DDC (which I used for switching displays when doing VM passthrough) .. oh yeah .. and required fixes to work with the recent kernel I was using. I or someone like me would have patched all them of course .. but it's not open source .. so .. you're really better off with AMD for linux or if you can bear it .. using the open source drivers (they're not that bad .. but personally I get tweaked out by clunky mouse pointers or 2 bit colour 4k res desktops). As far as I can tell .. there is no extra pain under windows vs other graphics cards so do not hesitate if you're going for main use in windows.

Needed an upgrade for improving graphics on an older pc, not for gaming. Works well arch and hyprland and am happy with my purchase.

This graphics card actually works perfectly with PCI X4 slots, you don't have to put it in an X16 slot even though it has an X16 connector. It still fits and works on the X4 slot. It fit in my Dell optiplex 9020 SFF X4 slot. The large cooling fins (silent model) do mean that the X16 slot is blocked, but that's not an issue for my current usage. Doesn't seem to create too much heat, it's totally silent and the main fan in the PC is still very quiet. Note however that I'm not using it for gaming, but I am using it for Twitch streaming a cam and audio feed for live music. So it's not as heavily taxed as playing a AAA game. This GPU does take a lot of strain off the CPU and also RAM, the machine doesn't hang or glitch at all and I've currently only got 8GB of system RAM (though I ordered more before this was delivered and now wonder if I needed the extra RAM).

I have an old Core i7-860 PC (no iGPU, that old!) which used an ATI Radeon card (HD 5770). A recent update from Win 10 bricked the PC, and I found by trial and error that the ancient AMD Catalyst driver was at fault. I had pulled out the card and ran the PC headless using RDP but was agonisingly slow to update the screen. I fitted this easily (10s, into the now vacant PCI-e 16 2.0 slot) and this has brought life back into the old PC. I don't game, so not sure how fast or slow it is in 3D. However it is blissfully silent, which I really value, and the fastest passively cooled discrete GPU card I could find with current (actively updated) Win 10 drivers. It is fast enough in 2D compositing that screen updates via RDP is instantaneous. Is the card worth £90? No; articles on established hardware sites have the card at around $60 in the past but as the only card I could find whilst passively cooled and not something from 20 years ago (ATI Rage Pro!), will have to do. I would make sure you get the GDDR5 version, rather than the DDR4 version which is reported to be markedly slower.

I am not a PC gamer [Xbox man, myself], so I don't need a high end card, but I DO need a card that will handle full HD, preferably at 60 FPS, as I watch a lot of stuff. And I like peace & quiet - so I want a passive card - i.e. no fan. My existing passive card was running hot, so I worried about upgrading with another passive card, but I reasoned that a more powerful card ought to have to do less work and so ought to run cooler. And I am right. This card runs consistently between 34 & 39 degrees C - which is 15 degrees cooler than the older card, which consistently ran at 50-55 degrees. The card does not require a separate power cable, as it gets what it needs from the PCIe. It comes fitted with a full height bracket, but there is a low-rise bracket in the box. All in all, a good piece of kit if all you want it to do is watch stuff.

In the pictures on Amazon's website, the single-width bracket gave me the impression that it only required one slot but, because of the heat dissipator, it actually needs space for 2 slots and didn't fit in my computer. I think that it would have been good value if I could have used it. I'm attaching a photo to give a better idea of how bulky it is.

Purchased the card for a PC used to transcode video. With sufficient cooling in the PC there was no need for additional fans on the card itself taking up extra power. When running at 100% it can get very warm but the transcode software takes care of things and slows up until it cools a little. I am going to adjust the airflow over the fins to increase the cooling. For the price it is doing an excellent job, transcoding both video and audio daily. It isn't a patch on modern gaming cards but does what it was purchased for.

Not tested on more demanding games but great on simpler ones. The display is really impressive and adjustable. Was very easy to install, recognized by Windows and its drivers were updated by Nvidia automatically. Well presented with back-plate fitment which I did not need on a Dell Optiplex tower desktop. Very pleased overall.

Ho acquistato questa scheda grafica ASUS perché pensavo che ASUS fosse il top ma purtroppo ho dovuto ricredermi almeno su alcune caratteristiche di questo articolo. Nonostante sia stata pensata per sistemi Gaming Entry Level e per sistemi HTPC non riesce a gestire se non con affaticamento eccessivo la modalità DirectWrite (Direct2D). Infatti se uso una applicazione che ha bisogno di questa modalità il mio PC inizia a rallentare parecchio e la temperatura della GPU sale di 5 punti. Avendola acquistata per usare un Monitor 4K HDR da 28 pollici Samsung sono rimasto molto deluso nel vedere questo glitch. Per il resto è esageratamente alta il ché ha comportato che lo slot PCI-E 2.0X4 è stato occupato dalla scheda che come ingombro ha finito per nascondere lo slot, potrei anche spostare la scheda video sull'altro slot PCI-E 3.0X16 ma è troppo vicino alla CPU e alla sua ventola da 120 mm, dunque per me è un grosso problema, per il resto essendo un cooler di tipo passivo non fa rumore e anche se sale la temperatura non c'è rischio di bruciare o rompere la ventola perché non ci sono parti meccaniche. I 4K HDR li raggiunge a 60 Hz senza problemi, gli aggiornamenti dei driver li faccio direttamente dal sito ASUS invece di nVidia perché i driver che rilascia ASUS sono ottimizzati per questa scheda video. Ho una scheda madre ASUS Maximus Gene VII, un processore i7 4790K a 4.00 Ghz, 16 GB di RAM DDR3 a 1600 Mhz in dual channel, SSD da 512 GB, Monitor 4K HDR 28 pollici Samsung e due Hard Disk meccanici da 3 TB ciascuno WD RED. In 4K HDR la scheda fa 55 gradi centigradi a riposo d'estate, in inverno 47 gradi centigradi. Raggiunge i 70 gradi centigradi sotto sforzo, i giochi faticano tantissimo e li devo giocare alla risoluzione FullHD sia pure con dettagli al massimo. Nel complesso è un buon compromesso, occupa un solo slot del case e viene fornita con una staffa anche a basso profilo intercambiabile. Ovviamente ci faccio girare tranquillamente Windows 10 64bit. Vi lascio alle mie foto dalle quali vi potrete rendere meglio conto di ciò che ho scritto qui. Installed smoothly in a compact build. Delivers solid performance for media playback and light gaming. The passive cooling keeps it silent, ideal for HTPC setups. Not for demanding titles, but perfect for what it's designed to do. Great value if you're upgrading from integrated graphics.

710のファンがうるさくなってきたので、それを機に静音化しようと思い購入。 Core2Quad Q9550S機でゲームはあまりやりませんが、 FFXIのベンチマーク程度では（とても快適評価）熱も思ったより上がりませんでした。 筐体が熱のこもる形状でなければ静音化にお勧めの一枚です。

Pour remplacer une GT 730 dont le ventilateur émettait par moments des bruits inquiétants. Dans le cadre d'une utilisation essentiellement bureautique, cette carte me donne entière satisfaction pour un prix relativement modéré avec un silence total et absolument sans risque de bruit de ventilateur puisque équipé d'un gros refroidisseur passif.

This is a great little card. If the specs are accurate I would have been very happy. The HP PC I attempted to install the card in has the PCI slots facing the power supply. There was just two little clearance as I didn't actually have the extra PCI slot available for the heatsink clearance.
