This is an effective practice mute - it quietens more than a performing mute, but not as much as a metal practice mute. Two slight issues (but not disastrous) - the feet from each side point inwards and with the general flexibility of the rubber, it makes it a bit fiddly to put on. Secondly, it has a rather strong chemical smell; given that when in use the product is a few cms from your nose, this is not pleasant. I am hoping this fades in time.

A good violin mute - it is sturdy and easy to put on and is functional in muting the violin.

Perfect little bit of kit for a value price. Reduces volume by over half. As an adult beginner living in a flat with neighbors either side and above, I was feeling self conscious about practicing and was trying to make less noise by using less of my bow/less pressure - but this isn't a good way to learn. With this mute, I feel so much more confident and my playing at home has immediately improved. I tried a few different styles of orchestral and practice mutes but this is the best (and least expensive). Clips on/off easily without any worries of damaging the bridge.

I bought a much more expensive mute initially (metallic) and had to send it back because it didn't even adjust properly to the bridge. This one, on the other hand, goes on the bridge very easily and still allows you to see the strings. Sound is muted but doesn't sound terrible. Great little gadget!

Easy to use and effective. Shame about the strong chemical smell but it is starting to wear off now, a month in!

great little damper that allows me to practice without too much concern regarding upsetting the neighbours. tends to cause some detuning of the strings and the tone of the cello is a little affected (a string can sounds quite scratchy) but overall allows me to fit a little practice in at times I would otherwise be able to. Great product for a very reasonable price.

As I live in a high rise block of flats, I need a practice mute to avoid getting complaints from the surrounding flats. and my violin is LOUD (I actually use earbuds or headphones to stop deafening myself) This product is an excellent value for the price. the downside, (which with many full 4 string mutes) its the sound becomes very very dull. That said, it is still useable, and it also depends on the strings you have. Besides, its not as if im performing in front of people when using the practice mute. It sits easily and snug on the bridge, so it quietens all 4 strings, unlike mutes i had in past which was only the two middle strings. Please note however, as it does not say in the description (at least at time of buying), that it ships direct from china. So expect it to take a month or so to arrive.

Rebaja mucho el sonido del violin, con un coste minimo. Se adapta a casi cualquier configuración del puente, por lo que al ser de plástico no da muchos problemas.

Cheap, it works, and when my package didn't show up the company express shipped me a new one, great customer service!!!! This mute is a tad slow to put on sometimes because it's made of rubber but I don't mind, for the price it's doing it's job of helping me not annoy my neighbors.
