Best next stage lens.
This lens is brilliant I have been looking for a lens that could give me the ability to telephoto but without needing to change lens or without it skipping some zoom which my be a beneficial length. This lens does both, since the standard Nikon lens is a 18-55mm lens and this is a 18-105mm it is a great way of achieving both, great telephoto with a non loss of beneficial zoom in capturing and not needing to switch lens as it encompasses the standard size lens and then gives you almost twice the original max zoom length. I used this lens at my cousins wedding to take some great up close photos of their special day and in the process was asked by one of their friends to be their photographer for their wedding as they so impressed by photos I had taken using it. The lens does give a little less clarity (slight haze) right at the top end but it is very unnoticeable. lens works exceptionally well both indoors and out, I was particularly impressed by the fact it shoots just as fast on 18mm as it does at 105mm on Nikon's sport mode which I used for the confetti. The lens also shows it self very highly when it comes to astrophotography, with it's wide lens it really sucks in the light of the stars and gives them a crisp clear image. This to me is the best next stage up from beginner lens on the market for Nikon cameras. I use a D5100.

Cheap, light and handy
Bought this lens as a walkabout lens for travel. I already own the excellent 18-55mm Nikon VR lens but wanted that bit extra. I must say I was quite taken by this lens. The focussing is pretty darn quick and the VR does a brilliant job. The lens although F5.6 at 105mm is sharp and again with the VR it works in dim light. In poor light the old prime lenses come out to play 35mm F1.8, 50mm F1.8 and 85mm F1.8 but as a walkabout lens I love it. Paired with my D7000 its perfect for that weekend City break. The lens currently at under £200 is pretty good value and yes there are wider range focal length zooms but twinned with the Nikon 55-200mm VR both lenses are handy to carry. The filter size 67mm and internal focus means the barrel doesn't rotate which is great for polarizer filters. Would recommend this lens. It's great for portraits too. I must again stress well done Nikon for adding everything in the box. The hood comes with the lens. Canon seriously just put it in the box. My L series lenses have the hood in the box. It's not difficult to put the lens hood in the box. Nikon have no difficulty!

Oh, dear. I'm hooked...
The R715 AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED is a DX format lens and is fully compatible with my Nikon D-60. In fact, it will work with a whole swathe of Nikon DSLR cameras, but in general, the older the model, the fewer features may be available. It includes Vibration Reduction (VR), and - so far - fully auto or manual modes at the push or press of the necessary switches or buttons work at will, as expected. It only arrived a couple of days ago (at near record-breaking speed as usual, in spite of industrial action within the postal service - well done Amazon), so I haven't had the chance to give it a proper roaming road test. However, initial efforts do not disappoint. It's longer by 1.5cm than the 18-55mm lens that came with the kit version of the camera I bought. It needs 67mm rather than 52mm filters, hoods, and other attachments at the objective lens end. A bit heavier too, because of all the glass inside to cover the amazing focal length range, but still handy. A big plus is that the overall barrel diameter is pretty much the same, so it will fit into any smaller `day bag' that already takes, say, the D-60 or similar sized camera fitted with a standard lens, plus a longer lens, spare battery, speedlite and a few other bits, and certainly doesn't cause a problem with the full size bag. It comes ready-to-go with a `crown' lens hood, rear lens cap and pouch. The focus and zoom rings have a pleasingly precise, slightly viscous resistance, although, as I've found with other Nikkor lenses, the focus ring gearing is fast, and only the slightest tweak is needed to fine-tune once you're near the spot, using the camera's excellent viewfinder digital rangefinder. Apart from specialists - I'm not - this is almost the universal lens, covering most of the bases. To put its scope in perspective, the DX 18-105mm lens is approximately equivalent to a 28-150mm version in 35mm format. But much more compact. Very pleased, and you won't have to change lenses very often.

What a super lens
Probably the most cost-effective & practical way to extend the reach of your Nikon. The usual kit lens (18-55) doesn't allow for much composition in the shot. This leads to extra cropping work in post production that I can do without, Also the 18-55 just doesn't reach out far enough. The 18-200 is available but my goodness its very expensive AND very heavy - so the 18-105 is my go everywhere lens :) And no, I don't work for Nikon or any subsidiary & I don't sell equipment!

Nikon Lens
I bought this lens to replace my damaged 18-135mm lens, and although it does not have as great a focal length, it is a great bit of kit. So far I have not noticed any 'lens-creep'. The quality, build and feel of this is fantastic. When I unpacked it I must have spent the best part of an hour holding it, turning it round, admiring it and drooling over it. (Yes, I know, sad. Get a life and all that!) It comes with a hood, soft case, lens cap and rear cover. Even the box is sexy. Buy this lens. You know you want to. And, no, I don't work for Nikon, but after this review, maybe they should reward me if you buy this lens! Oh yeah, nearly forgot. Picture quality is brilliant.

Versatile and good quality
This lens was bought as i needed something a bit more versatile when out on location. I was tired of carrying 3 lenses and wanted something i could use for general purpose. This lens is a little heavy but is just what i needed. I use it along side the 50mm prime and find they are all i need in most situations of portrait and general use. Well built and quiet. Excellently priced too.

Excellent Camera Lens at a Great Price
This is an excellent camera lens. Good focus, excellent zoom, no visible distortion over the zoom range. Easy and quick to operate. Fits easily on my Nikon 6000. Stabilization helps. I bought it as a replacement for the same camera lens I damaged traveling. Not easy to damage. Someone slammed their luggage into my hand luggage in the overhead bin. The price on Amazon was excellent. It cost me less to buy a replacement on Amazon than Nikon bid for the repair. Plus Nikon wanted 4 weeks to do the repair, while I got the lens in one to two days.

Ottimo obiettivo
