Useful if your emersion cylinder has lots of lime buildup
being shorter than standard, it doesn't reach the limescale buildup at the bottom of the cylinder. This means it heats the water first, not the lime. Should save money on an old installation, and maybe last longer too.

Difficult to calibrate. Keeps cutting out.
The thermostat has a “+” and a “-“ but no values, it can therefore take several heating cycles to find the desired setting. My previous immersion heaters have always been graduated in Celsius. The safety cut off cuts off at least once a week and sometimes more than once in a day. Edit after 18 months use: the immersion heater has failed and blows the main house RCD. The previous one lasted 12 years.
