Works a treat, very impressed.
I bought this to take some measurements to try some room correction software. My latest smart phone has USB C, but I have an old phone that has a audio analogue connection so I thought I would save some money, in case I wasn't impressed with the improvement. Downloading the software for the Dayton calibration was straight forward from their website, as was adding it to the room correction software. When setting up it is important to stabilise the phone at ear level to get the best results. I was very impressed, as it highlighted the dip in the frequency curve where I expected it. I decided not to implement the changes the room correction programme recommended, as I could if I wanted to, adjust just as well using digital EQ, the changes were not so big. All in all a good experience, be aware it may not work with all phones or tablets, as I found with an old LG flagship phone. Highly recommended, well made, well packaged and quality product with great capabilities.

Cheap-ish testing microphone that may get good to excellent results.
I recently purchased a new car amplifier and headunit, but even after some tinkering about, found the sound too harsh and also sounding dull somewhat. Research and guides lead me this, to enable half decent or good equalisation of my car audio install. It is by far the best value in the budget sector of microphones that are calibrated. For the calibration you download a test report file from Dayton audio, each unique the the units, and use the file in analysing softwares. For that I used an android app that supported the file and got myself a good budget setup. To my ears, after calibration, there was a noticeable difference, less harsh and better sound stage. I thought maybe a placebo, but non of the Alpine head units presets sounded as good or my own initial tweak done by ear alone. Having listened to music over the last several weeks, all sounds rather good. As the app used is very comprehensive but requires deeper learning, I could possibly fine tune the sound further thus truly getting the best of the microphone. For a non-pro but likes music and best I can afford, this is a great option in my opinion without breaking the bank. With other supported software, you could use this microphone to calibrate many audio setups in the home or perhaps on location. Its quite versatile and fabulous value.

depending on your use it seems accurate ideal for measuring audio
Size was ok for my use it's only small but it seems to work well.

Very useful device for Audio Buffs
This will prove invaluable for those who would like to set up Audio playback equipment using an RTA. The Mic has a unique calibration file that can be downloaded from the Dayton Audio website, and then loaded into your device for accurate audio signal measurement. You obtain it by entering the serial number of your actual Mic. Follow the instructions on the website to load it. It is a bit fiddly to do, but the instruction are clear and work well. This uses a 3.5mm TRRS Jack, so you will need a way of connecting tat into your device. My iPad accepted this easily, but my android phone required a USB-C to 3.5mm convertor cable. Using Mobile Tools by AudioControl is the best way to use this. Recommended product.

Perfect for mobile/amateur audio measurement
I used this microphone as a RTA to adjust the EQ in my car after audio modifications. It's functionality, compatibility and clarity are it's high points. You can even use the microphone for high quality recordings or video production on the go. For the money and form factor, it's the only measurement microphone on the market. Bear in mind that you need to upload a calibration file to your phone to get a pure flat response from this mic. This is done with an app recommended by the Dayton website, and it's a paid app. In the UK, be prepared to spend £8 more on said recommended app. Still worth it.

Good little cheap reference mic
Great little measurement mic that can be used with my iPad and the AudioTools app. Doesn’t replace a professional system, but when working on a budget it is better than just relying on your ears

It'll do.
Works fine. Build quality not that great.

Excellent value for the price.
Connected to my Android smartphone or tablet, and having downloaded the dedicated calibration file for my specific unit - full instructions are provided - I now have a more than adequate analyser to check the sound in a church. Yes, it is not of a type that gives wholly accurate 1/3 or 1/6 octave frequency response; to achieve such accuracy demands a considerably higher-priced mic and associated analyser hardware. If you need "absolute 100% accuracy", perhaps this is not for you. But for my usage, it works very well indeed. Highly recommended.

You're doing it wrong!!! -- This gizmo is an EXTREMELY HELPFUL TOOL at a fantastic price.
Works great, and the results match other calibration tools in my home theater. Also assisted in calibrating a commercial live-audio installation. Audibly helped the commercial system and I could easily visualize the changes. I would advise you to use an averaging tool in making the measurement (AudioTool has this option) as instantaneous reading of pink noise is not the easiest to see what is happening. For the purpose of doing frequency calibration of a stereo system, seeing the average of pink noise results is more helpful, and then use instantaneous to dig out things you hear or see. Who all those who blast this as: "This is a horrible microphone, my built in one is better" and the like, I'm sorry, but you have no idea what this microphone is for. You think this microphone is supposed to sound good, thinking that it has build built with "calibration". This is not a high-quality microphone (measurement-grade microphones don't come under $20, if even $200). This microphone has nothing fancy inside it. This is, however, a microphone what has been measured at a shiz-ton to frequencies to characterize the microphone's frequency response so you can have a reference point as to what you are measuring. Even if your reference is crappy, if you know what it is, you can make use out of it. What's the difference in amplitude between 4kHz and 30Hz on your iPhone/android's microphone??? You don't know. Even if one was measured for calibration offsets, do you really think every single unit will have the exact same response down to a dB? It MIGHT give you a ballpark... maybe.... if it's a full moon... wearing green??. Sorry for turning this into a rant. I just hate seeing an awesomely useful tool for <$20 that does what a RANE calibration system does for $500+ get blasted as being a crappy product. A wrench does a pretty lousy job of spreading peanut butter on toast-- if you use a tool wrong, you will likely get bad results. Dayton IMM-6
