I have owned many filters of different types across the years (gravel/bubble filters, internal filters, external filters, hang-on-back filters), and the hang-on-back is without doubt the most convenient sort to maintain.I bought this because I was starting to see some cloudiness build in the water and needed the UV to clear it. Within half a day of using it with the UV light on, the water was crystal clear. Also, I'm amazed at the strength of the flow rate of the water... I have no idea if it is living up to the 800 litres per hour, but the water movement in the tank is similar to that of external filters that claim to be 1000+. It was up and running in about 10 minutes without any fuss of trying to connect pipes and check for leeks that comes with external filters, and there was no messing about moving stuff inside the tank trying to make room for it and hiding it behind plants or rocks like you do with internal filters.Very easy to clean too; lift the lid off, lift out the filter media basket, wash it and put it back... you don't even need to switch the pump off. There is very little that can go wrong with it, and if it ever should, then at this price I'd just buy another one!Edit: just added video for you to see flow of water. It's the filter on the left, the one on the right is a different make but does show the difference in flow rate. The noise is an air pump, not the filters.

This works extremely well had whole tank muddy it cleaned it up also it's quiet kept my tank clear aswell may buy this again

Good filter and would work well on a suitable tank. Unfortunately the flow was too high for my tank and the filter made a lot of noise when turned down. The filter dictates your water level which was not suitable for my Axolotl tank that uses fans and causes the water level to drop quickly. The filter makes a lot of noise when the water level is too low and the even shuts off sporadically. The surface slimmer also doesn’t work when the level is too low. The filter stopped functioning for me after 4 months, likely due to my water level drops which caused it to run semi dry occasionally. Overall - good filter when water level is kept topped up.

Was a little sceptical as some of the reviews on your other products. However the cheap price and Amazon's fast delivery lulled me into buying this product. Initially on taking out of the box I was impressed. It looked relatively sturdy, well made. Was a little nervous about the UV as previous reviews on other products mentioned electric shocks ect . I am now not surprised. The uv is located next to the motor both which leak. They was water on the electrics and pissing out the bottom. When looking closer it seems they is little to no seals thus ending with a defective leaking product which could easily have shocked myself or killed my animals. I understand that it is a cheap product however I expected to atleast get a good few months use out of it nor did I expect it to potential kill my pets. Think Amazon should review what products and suppliers be sold via them. Despicable.

The media could not be loaded. Quite pump great pulling clean the tank very well and quicklyJust don't ever clean the pump never undo it. As it doesn't like it at all.I thought I'll do a good thing and clean the pump.Which was the worst idea ever? Stop working completely 4 timesSo my advices don't ever do that. Just change the filter media and sponge. That's it.

Can be alittle noisy but great for a variety of tank sizes. Easy set up/clean and customise it's contents due to the media trays (2nd one of these I have bought for my fish tanks)
