Amazing world building
The beginning was definitely a slow start. At first I was unsure if I would be able to finish it. The world building seemed so detailed, which is great, but it took so much time to describe the chamber and den. So much was touched on it felt like we would never actually leave the first area. But then, sticking with it we were treated to a amazing world with Raptor lizards, a crash site in a pit and crysleeping humans.I loved ketahn and ivy's romance. It is a little Stockholm syndrome but also sincere and sweet. Ivy is determined to learn and survive and katahn is teaching her. I was concerned we would not get their ending and a new couples book would start at the end of this book. Luckily the next book is also about katahn and ivy.For those who love spice, let me just say the romance is amazing. Tiffany roberts does a great job making a spider man sexy. (I hate spiders myself) and even I would jump on katahn. There was some tie up bandage and it was done so detailed.Definitely recommended for readers of aliens that are actual alien in anatomy and behavior. Alot of alien romance is a human man that just is purple or blue. I enjoy when it is actually an alien

It was surprisingly good.
For the type of book this is, it was actually decent. The world building wasn't her strongest part. But the characters were likeable. I enjoyed it but most likely won't finish the series. It was fun though.

Surprisingly fantastic
While it took me until we got Ivy’s perspective to really make sense of our MMC, I loved the story and the development. It’s really perfect.

Impressive as long as you have no phobias against spiders.
Impressive as long as you have no phobias against spiders.I have often thought of plot lines involving sentient male insectnoids and arachnoids with female Earthers. Lots of ideas but never placed them on paper. So when I saw Ensnared on Amazon, I had to buy it.Some of the reviews say Ensnared isn't a romance novel. It is, but it is a slow-burner.Ketahn is a male weaver/now hunter for his people, the Vrix. The Vrix are arachnoids, the males with six legs and four arms while the females only have four legs and four arms. There's serious sexual dimorphism involved in that the females are seriously taller and larger (9-10 feet tall) than the males (7.5-8 feet tall). The female Vrix are the warrior leaders and serious fighters. The males, while fighters themselves when in battle, are usually hunters, miners, quarry folk, healers, etc. The Vrix females lay many eggs which, when hatched, are brood-siblings to each other. There is a sire and a dam, and the relationships between them all can be very close. As for Ketahn, all but he and his warrior sister Ahnset, who is one of the Queen Zurvashi's personal bodyguards — the Queen's Fang — are the only survivors. Queen Zurvashi wants Ketahn to sire her next brood as she considers. him the only one worthy enough, but he refuses as he cannot stand her cruel ways despite the advantages. So he banishes himself into the Tangle — the vast jungle of his world — to provide meat for the inhabitants of Takarahl, the stronghold of his people.Ivy Foster, on the other hand, is a Human who is part of a Human colonization project on another planet. For reasons unknown, the colony ship crashes on Ketahn's planet, and by accident, Ketahn falls into the humungous pit created by such a crash and stumbles across Ivy's cryopod. He inadvertently releases her and takes her to his nest. From that point on, it's a day-in-the-life of a Vrix and a Human. Like I said, the relationship is a slow-burner but not that slow.I found this novel to be far better written than many I have recently read. I enjoyed the world-crafting done by Tiffany Roberts. A lot of thought went into this planet's creation, including its own mythos and legends. Much time was spent in this world's development of its own fauna and flora. By the time I finished reading Ensnared, I knew exactly what Ketahn and Ivy looked like, what the Vrix looked like (without having to refer to the front cover art!), and a rough idea of the Tangle and its various beautiful locations.I was extremely sympathetic to the main character Ketahn and Ivy, but I also appreciated the time and effort spent developing Ketahn's friends and family within Takarahl, and I hope we get a chance to see more of them in the next two books! I didn't find much in terms of continuity issues. I was able to continuously suspend my disbelief (which is essential in a tale like this), and the writing and its style were excellent though not necessarily perfect. (But face it! Not even Tolkien was perfect!)I am definitely looking forward to the rest of this interesting trilogy. In fact, I have already pre-purchased the next two books — Enthralled and Bound — which are to be published in the next few years.Yes, I know some people might consider the ending of Ensnared to be a cliffhanger. Believe me, I've read worse and more frustrating cliffhangers than this one. But considering how long this book has been already, I doubt I could justify the recommendation to compressing the next two titles into one big book. Too much info, too much action. I could even see the resurrection of the others still in suspended sleep in future tales, but we have yet to deal with Queen Zurvashi and why so many of the Vrix in Takarahl are starving of meat deficiency. So much to know still... So much to know...I highly recommend this book to any who are hard-core monster lovers... except those with spider phobias. Nope. Those with arachnophobia are recommended to steer clear from this trilogy. Excellent writing, Tiffany Roberts!

Monster lover romance that’s heavy on the plot and also the cliffhanger
As a vrix hunter, Ketarn has a duty to his people. A duty that does not include mating with a brutal queen. While on his way home in the tangle, he stumbles over a weird structure containing cocoon-like structures. When He accidentally opens one, he releases Ivy, a human colonist who has been In cryo-sleep for who knows how long. They quickly grow together forming a bond that shouldn’t be possible. A bond of love.—This book cleaned heavier into science-fiction trips and I expected. It’s very sci-fi. And the hero and hero don’t actually meet with both of them being weak until close to the 20% mark. This is a slow burn. It’s also very clear that the authors had a lot going on that they wanted to cover which is why they broke it up into multiple books. I just wish that they had been more open about the fact that this is an interlinked series and not each book being a different colonist and alien book. “Trilogy” is about the biggest clue you get. This book does contain dark themes and the following trigger warnings are necessary: Parental death, sibling death, attempted forced mating, Non-consensual touching, dubious consent due to custom differentials, Occasional misogynistic language, non-consensual taping of sex acts, Parental abandonment, child neglect, and more that I’m probably forgetting. There’s also a pretty misogynistic sexist theme running through this that women are bad or need to be taken care of and men are the oppressed gender but actually the better gender. I’m not sure if this is intentional or if the authors just leaned into some old school science-fiction tropes without understanding the unfortunate implications of them. Things like a female rulers are bad… There’s always the evil queen. Or that women don’t know how to do anything like survival or things like that. So that something readers of the series might want to bear in mind. There are parts of this that I liked and I didn’t like. I absolutely liked the slow burn romance. And there were aspects of the culture that I found fairly interesting. There was definitely a difference in writing style in certain places it’s fairly clear that one author really focuses on the world building and backstory while another focuses on the thoughts and feelings and emotional connection of the main characters. There’s a difference in writing style and sentence structure that really stood out to me. I’m not sure if others would notice this but I certainly did.I also was frustrated with both of the main characters. The hero at a certain point thinks of the heroine as Pat and that mindset really doesn’t change. He doesn’t seem to acknowledge that she has different skills than him and that she is in a situation where her skills are not as useful. But that doesn’t make her useless. I would like to see him try to navigate earth of this time period. I also didn’t terribly like Ivy’s colonialism. That it was just sort of OK to go to colonize other worlds. And while I know this is a very big trope in science fiction I just am not sure that it’s a great trip to lean into right now.So ultimately I’m sort of conflicted about this book. There’s an absolute good in here and it’s in good romance and it’s a believable monster romance. But there are some other aspects of this that I don’t love. And based off of the length the story that they’ve got a towel I don’t mind it being broken up into multiple books. I just wish that it was indicated better in the blurb. So because I’m conflicted and because I’m not sure if I’m going to continue with the series I give this:Three StarsNote: Due to a disability, this Review was written using talk to text any mistakes made are due to the program not understanding my speech.

This might be my new favorite obsession!
Good plot, truly excellent world building, and the two main characters are loveable. No awful tropes like misunderstandings or mean MC.My only issue was that there was clearly no professional editing. The odd spelling/grammar mistake (not including dialog since that was intentional) and some scenes dragged on with descriptions. Normally that would cause me to rate lower but the story itself is too good.

I loved loved loved this book.
I got to explore an alien planet and it's exotic flora and fauna. I got to meet a girl with a dark past but a bright soul. I got to know a spider-man who's a fierce monster on the outside but a compassionate being on the inside.I loved Ketahn's possessiveness. I loved how the author duo tackled the language barrier. How they solved it was genius and you will love it.It felt both like reading a sci-fi novel and a heavy fantasy piece (only with spiders) but there was also so much romance and the spice during the last third of the book was immaculate. 10/10🌶️I recommend this book with all my heart!

Magnifique
