Kilner Preserve Jar 1L (1000ml) Round Glass Screw Top Lid Preservation Storage Jar for Pickling Vegetables Whole Fruits Chunky Chutneys

I have been using a BPA free colour changing cup I purchased from a well-known Seattle coffee chain for years, which served me faithfully until the inside began to peel due to thorough daily scrubbing. I wanted to buy a glass cup this time, but found they mostly came in pairs and were more expensive than I wished to pay. I happened upon this preserve jar during my search and I initially bought the 0.5 ltr size in error (far too small for my daily smoothie), but kept it for iced coffee and iced matcha lattes in the summer months. It's the perfect size for those. Impressed by its quality, I ordered the 1 ltr size, and I absolutely love it. It's made from thick glass, has a screw top lid where the centre comes out separately (for use as it is originally intended for bottling preserves), and it keeps the smoothie colder for longer. It washes as cleanly as one would expect from glass and is comfortable to hold despite its weight and size. The added bonus is that it gave me such a lift using it this morning, I definitely unleashed my inner 'that girl', and who wouldn't want that vibe to start their day? Both were inexpensive at under £4, and I highly recommend them, whatever you use them for.

This jar arrived well protected, please see my photos. The glass is thick and clear of any noticeable defects, no bubbles etc tha tcan be an issue if you are using it for hot jams, it could crack at that point. It is thick and the base is large and stable when upright. The separated scrw bands and lids are good. They provide an airtight seal onto the jar with a large type of thread, that, with the lid grips, means it is reasonably easy to place on and off the jar. At the moment we are using this to grow and store kefir. Due to the potential corrosive nature, it is somewhat acidic, of kefir when it is firmenting we will use a clean piece of kitchen roll and eleastic band for the lid, rather than the metal ring lid tha tis supplied. The reason for that is, the kefir must be able to have its gases release and the lids, over time, can become tarnished or rust. The inner lid, not the screw ring, has the rubberised, orange, seal on the outer edge and then a cream coloured wipe clean tpye rubbered surface on the rest. It is good, but over time, depending wha tyou are using these jars for, they will stain. To help we will soak them within a weakened solution of hydrogeon peroxide. However, spares are available for the replacement bands and we are looking for the internal lids to next buy. These preserve jars are great for jams, pickles, kefir or pretty much anything else. The four stars are only a reflection of the need to buy additonal lids and at some point the screwing band for it, due to staining and rust. Also they can be a little fiddly to clean, but a long plastic wired brush helps. Very much recommended.

Nice size, it's airtight the lid is different but locks solid I make pickles and this jar keeps it nice and fresh very easy to use

Looks good. I make yogurt in it and will buy more. It's sturdy as well.
