Solid purchase
We just bought one of these to replace our old kettle. We used to have an older Sage model (courtesy of my brother) but wanted to replace with something more simple and affordable. We had our hearts set on glass, makes it easy to see when you need to clean it, and nicer aesthetics in our kitchen. Was very impressed by the Breville. The first thing I noticed was the weight - it's well made and solid, nice glass and steel look, and the handle is nice (not too clunky), but surprisingly light compared to the Sage we had before. Another perk is that it's quick to boil - wouldn't say lightening but a bit quicker than our Sage. Some reviews said that you get the white scale at the bottom - we had this with our Sage also, and we have a filter tap - that's just the water. It's easy to get off - 5 lemons juiced and then topped up with the same amount of water, leave for 10 mins then boil it off and it's good as new. There's one very small bit at the top of the handle that looks a bit shoddy - just a very small piece of plastic but that's literally the only thing wrong with this kettle. We did get it on a deal on Amazon, but good price and does the job of making boiling water very nicely. Definitely recommend.

Great modern looking kettle, well built and boils water fast!
We've used this for over a year now with no problems whatsoever. Quick to boil. Not as noisy as my last kettle. Nice blue LED. No leaking. The toughened ultra clear glass requires cleaning as you would expect to keep it sparkling and if not the grime shows very quickly. The cap is a quick put on and pull off which is far better than anything on a hinge (less chance of wear and tear problems). We live in a soft water area and I use Brita filters as well so no build up of limescale. The base itself is quite plasticky but works very well with good contact with the kettle. Really nice looking kettle so much so that friends and family have bought one as a result. My mother has requested one the next time I'm back visiting her! That's multiple kettles sold due to me Amazon! :)Highly recommended.

Fast, Stylish, Good Quality
I live in California where the fastest kettle on our standard 120v mains supply runs at 1500 watts and takes up to 8 mins to boil. I put in a dedicated 240v circuit to the kitchen solely to power a 240v kettle. I scoured both the German Amazon and UK Amazon sites for the fastest, highest-wattage kettle that I could find. This Breville was the highest rated of the 3Kw kettles. An added bonus was its stylish glass design and cool blue led illuminating the water until it boils. It's way more stylish than anything that I've seen in the U.S. It arrived in 7 days without damage. It's been two weeks of daily use and I'm still gob-smacked by the speed of this thing. I make pour-over filter drip coffee And now the water has boiled before I've finished grinding the coffee beans! It also greatly simplifies snd accelerates any task that requires boiling water, like cooking pasta. It was well worth the trouble that I went to to bring a UK kitchen "must-have," into this American kitchen!

Needs frequent descaling to keep it looking at its best
I thought I would put in a long term review.I bought this kettle in January 2018 and it is still going strong as of 25 Nov 2019.The kettle has a blue light that illuminates the inside of the kettle so it looks very pretty when turned on, especially in low light. It is also a quite nice looking kettle and boils the water reasonably quickly. The main drawback is the glass. We live in a hard water area so calcium build up is a familiar issue. Initially it forms on the base plate but soon will start to collect on the glass and this really spoils the look of the kettle and makes it noisier. My solution (which I found on a very popular video sharing website) is to use lemon juice. You can buy bottles of lemon juice very cheaply from most supermarkets. Just empty the kettle, pour in enough lemon juice to cover the heating plate at the bottom. Turn the kettle on until the lemon juice starts to boil (it will probably take less than 10 seconds). Then swirl the boiling juice around inside the kettle. Depending on how much scale there is you may need to reboil the juice & swirl a few times but eventually you will have a sparkling kettle.I do this every three weeks or so and the kettle looks just like new even after nearly two years. My other 'niggle' is that the kettle doesn't automatically turn off when you lift it off the base. All the other kettles I have used have a mechanism that switches them off when they are lifted off the base to prevent an empty kettle from accidentally boiled when empty. I would also say that whilst not excessively noisy, this kettle is definitely louder than my old plastic kettle. I guess this is the price you have to pay for a little style. All in all, I am very happy with it.
