works well with virgin hub 4. you might want to purchase a longer ethernet cable as the ones supplied are only about 1m long, depending on where your wall sockets are. creates a good strong signal. basically a very quick plug and play system.it does not create a signal from upstairs to down stairs if your socket wiring is on two different circuits, i used the wireless set to try to connect to the circuit via wifi which is working ok. will probably add more at a later date,signal stregnth via ethernet is great, by wifi it is limited to which set you buy, the lower the rating on the extender will be the max the system will send out, so best to connect all extenders of similer ratings.

Why did you choose this product over others?:I wanted Netgear adapters to match my existing ones, but they have been discontinued. Absolutely brilliant piece of kit, works perfectly, even with Netgear adapters on the AV2 protocol. Great to finally have the telly and Xbox on LAN, and a spare adapter for when the son grows up and demands his own setup in his bedroom - the dual LAN connectors are killer

For powerline this has been a solid product in that it is exactly how powerline products should be, No wifi, no included ethernet switch. The AV2000 falls far short of its claimed bandwidth but it is decent enough to match gigabit ethernet however it is good by design to have 2 ethernet ports to match the theoratical bandwidth.The good:As long as no one loosens it out from the socket there has been no dropouts.Speed is reasonable, comparable to gigabit ethernet (but still not better than gigabit ethernet), better than practical wifi AC speeds.Much cooler than older powerline adapters.Very easy to setupthe bad:For some this is wide that they may have trouble with the socket switch (i myself didnt really have much problem).Ethernet cables dont clip in, easy to accidently pull loose and lose connection.Speeds still far from claimed (i got between 600Mb/s-800Mb/s between floor 1 and 3),TP-link utility is very lacking (its not reassuring whether or not your adapters are in encrypted groups or just plain unencrypted, no latency information, no signal/noise information). More information and configuration options would be very helpful.priceyI dont know why manufacturers bothered with powerline products that integrated switch and wifi, they're expensive and a failure of any part brings the whole thing down. One suggestion would be to provide POE for added benefit instead of wifi/switching. Having a powerline adapter only sending data between ethernet and electrical cabling is much more reliable and better than trying to integrate other things like wifi into it. Good job on tp-link in building the AV2000 powerline adapter that only does 1 thing.

AV2000 lives up to my expectations and was a good purchase, TP-Link support was great too.I purchased the AV2000 TP-Link kit to replace some Devolo AV200 kit that had served me well for 4 years or so.However, with internet speeds increasing, computers getting faster and web apps getting more demanding; the older kit was starting to feel laggy, and not just for internet speed tests but also in use when compared with newer wireless ac mobile devices connected directly to the gateway.In addition, my NAS device was really underutilised because the AV200 devices max out at about 50Mbps throughput. As a general rule with powerline devices, you can expect about a 1/4 of the headline data rate (in real terms, after you take all network overheads into account).Bottom-line: my older kit just wasn't cutting it for multiple users, backups of photos etc. to the NAS - all taking too long!So, I thought I'd see what 4 years+ have done to the tech and after reading many reviews myself, I settled on this TP-Link AV2000 as a good upgrade that seemed reasonably priced.After installation which took less than 5 minutes, I had to double-take as the 1/4 rule went out-the-window and I was getting dismal speeds of about 100Mbps.I then started rereading some of the reviews and found several that complained about this model, even saying this was a downgrade on last years AV1200 version.I contacted TP-Link support via their web chat and they were fantastic, however, they couldn't help me get to the root cause of my issue though!After some investigation (after a couple hours testing various aspects of my network and confirming with iperf3) it turns out that I basically had a broken CAT5E cable that came with the router ISP provided. I hadn't noticed this before as 50Mbps was all I could get with the AV200 kit.To cut a long story short I reran all my tests and confirmed that the new AV2000 kit performed to my expectations, sitting at about 380Mbps (or about 40MB/s file transfer to the NAS which was acceptable to me.It's interesting I'm getting speeds that many professional reviews claimed were not repeatable. Maybe my device has newer firmware, or maybe the reviewers got a bad sample! All I can say is my sample lives up to expectations.After running more internet speed-tests and iperf3 tests to hosts in another part of the house I confirmed that I was happy with the device performance. AV2000 is a major improvement over the AV200 both in terms of throughput and also more surprisingly latency that dropped from about 10ms or so with the AV200 to around 3ms with the AV2000.Latency reduction is very noticeable when browsing the internet and possibly more so than throughput. I found websites load faster because most sites don't get lots of data, they have lots of links to open and therefore hosts to resolve via DNS which is where all that latency adds up.AV2000 will provide 300 to 400Mbps sustained throughput depending on your house wiring and computer speeds etc. This isn't quite like a 1Gbps cable solution (~950-980Mbps real-terms if you're lucky!).However, for a zero cabling approach, this new powerline AV2000 is plenty fast enough for most use cases that I have anyway and latency is much more comparable with cabled solutions which are really noticeable.Final thoughts: Although they couldn't discover my broken cable, TP-Link support was excellent. AV2000 device power consumption seems to be about right (5w each in use) and they really are plug and play (my advice is, if like me you get issues at first, check your current network cables for breaks / bad cables :) and on that note the two 1Gbps ports enabled me to lose another switch and save an additional 5w of power to boot.Highly recommend the upgrade for AV200 or any AV first gen powerline and probably not so much of an upgrade f you are already using AV2 devices already.
