Excellent
This is fabulous!Although other reviews were good I didn't have particularly high expectations but thought I'd give it a go. My 16 stone husband was released from hospital with significant mobility problems due to issues with his leg and back. The aids provided by the hospital did not really help but this did.We used it in our tiled bathroom by the loo and in the bath. You need a little strength to fit it to the wall as you have to push down quite hard on the levers but once we had done this it was very, very firmly in place and easily took his weight. It's quite easy to remove although you might have to tug at the suction pads a bit.I would say it's important that what you are fixing it to is secure as if you fix it to a loose tile it's going to pull the tile off the wall!Would definitely recommend.

Returned...faulty suction lock
First fixed it and thought it had potential. Seemed sturdy and strong. Cleaned tiles, followed instructions exactly and fixed on tiles not over joins. Unfortunately the suction which seemed fine initially, didn’t last. On one end the suction lock didn’t work properly and was no longer adhered to the tiles. It frightened us all falling off the tiles into the bath at 3am! I tried to refit numerous times...all times failed after a short time being attached...just glad it didn’t fall whilst my mother was holding it. I returned. Maybe we were unlucky with a faulty unit, but I didn’t take the chance of reordering. It seemed promising and sturdy initially, but as I say...if it fails regularly, one day she might be holding onto it at that moment....so a thumbs down here.

At last an affordable invention that actually works
Brilliant , did not expect these to be as good as they are for the price. So long as you are using these in tiled areas and your tiles are fairly even, clean of any surface dirt and are firmly fixed (ie bathroom) and you use as intended ie a 'helping hand' such as supporting you getting in to a bath , shower, a 'hold on to ' while towelling etc , and not a expecting them to take your 'absolute full body weight' ..they are amazing ! Saved my arthritic wife from falls in the bathroom a few times . I don't know why there are negative reviews .just push down on tiles (avoiding grout lines as per common sense) and push the levers down . There's a confidence indicator by way of a green/ red indicator , but I give it a wiggle to make sure. I find sticking to the tiles and then pushing down evenly and firmly with both hands while pushing the lock levers to be effective every time. These have an easy release system take it from me once these grab bars are mounted correctly they are pretty solid ! Anyway thats just my experience opinion , hope it helps somebody..

A generally good bathroom aid, but....
I will say that when it works it is perfectly fine. I found that I have had to manouevre it about on a bathroom wall to find a place where both suction pads will work ok - this could be due to some wall tiles not being perfectly sealed and thus enabling the airtight connection, but this has to be noted.. you might THINK your tiles are fine, but it needs to be tried in various positions. Safest way though is to not leave it on the wall all the time and just fit it as you use the bath. Oh... and just use it as an aid to get in or out of the bath, DON'T put all your weight on the handle, or swing on it etc... !!!Other than this, the handle works well.

Good to begin with
This performed well for the first 6 months, then gradually it started to loose grip on the exact same surface. Sometimes you could not rely on the suction therefore it was not to be trusted and in the end we had to take it away after a few incidents.

Useful handle
Sticks to the wall very well but the wall has to be dry and flat. However I will not take a persons full weight so must not be used to pull your self up out the bath. I use mine to just give a bit of support when in the shower.

Great purchase
I had my elderly mother to stay over for a week and I knew she would have issues getting in and out of the bath. I found this and thought I'd give it a go.A few of the reviews mentioned that the bar lost suction after a few hours, so I was a bit unsure about it.On first application, yes, it lost suction within a few hours. I tried it in a different area of the bath and it's been up there for several weeks, without budging. My mother loved it as she can't do without her shower in the morning and felt much safer climbing into the bath with the bar.

Cause injury. Do not buy.
This is the second hand handle I have purchased for my mother-in-law. Granted this one lasted longer than the first one but I would not recommend this product as it came straight off the wall whilst in use. This caused my mother-in-law to fall and badly injure herself. I've attached a photo as I want people to be aware that these products clearly do not work and are a total waste of money.
