Q: Can this material cope with high temperature? I may need to put it very close to a rather hot light - is it non-flammable / heat resistant?

I have not tested the material with high temperature bulbs i.e. Tungsten. I have been using it with low power "fluorescent" lamps and at least 10cms away from the light box. I had noticed that the material get slightly hot with only 5 minutes of constant light pointed at it.

Q: Have you found this to be adequate or better, at diffusing studio lighting from a softbox/lamp? Thanks so much.

Hi Evan, I use mine to diffuse window light, drape/crumple over any harsh light, which cant be done with a softbox simply because there are no 2m square softboxes and they dont bend. I often double / triple it so I can change the level of diffusion at will. I can change the distance between the flash/light source and the material to change the effect. I can make it any shape I need and its cheap. The one thing I dont do is use it as shown in the add. Take care. Keith

Q: Hi can you screen a projector against this so you can see it the other side clearly?

Sorry, I have no experience of using the lights in that manner. I suspect that the projected image may not be clearly seen on the reverse side. The fabric is, after all, a light diffuser.

Q: Could this work for shadow puppetry purposes?

not sure...depends on how hard your shadow edges need to be to be effective
